### 4/5 — Update needed

*2024-01-12, version 3.2.1*

Unfortunately it seems that the developers have forgotten about this app.

### 3/5 — Xert metrics yes, iOS app not great

*2024-01-11, version 3.2.1*

I love Xert but the iOS app really needs some attention. The last update was 2 years ago! It is so far behind the web interface but is still the most convenient way for me to run workouts

### 4/5 — Please make for Apple TV

*2023-04-19, version 3.2.1*

Love the concept but indoor trainer all set up with Apple TV..
All sensors are linked to this.
Please create app suitable for this

### 4/5 — Great tool

*2022-01-03, version 3.2.1*

I’ve used Trainer Road and Zwift for years and eventually tried out Xert. I’ve used Xert on and off for 3 years. If you’re looking for highly structured training plans or the enjoyment of virtual peers, Xert is not the right tool. Xert is great at catering workouts to your exact fitness and physiology. You definitely benefit from knowing what type of workout you are looking instead of being told. Being a smaller rider (<60kg) with smaller power outputs, on other platforms I often found recovery intervals and sweet spot too hard being just a simplistic % of FTP, but Xert I don’t have the same problem. I credit Xert’s concept of LTP in helping make Xert workouts better suited and in my case with less unnecessary and unexpected workout failures.

Requests:
I find the workout user interface clunky
I would love rotated screen or at least upside down support so I can have my iPhone plugged in at the “top side” instead of jammed at the bottom.

### 4/5 — Interesting power-based training and bike computer

*2021-08-07, version 3.0.1*

Xert have unique analytics, aimed to optimise training and determine your fitness signature (power vs time, max power available). The fitness signature is continuously updated. I'd say the analytics are geared towards short, high-intensity, above threshold training. The system is very motivating for that kind of work, and recommends workouts to achieve user-specified goals. I do a bit of that, but I'm not sure their analytics work well for longer endurance training, where there is little above-threshold efforts.

I got the app because it could connect to one side of a Favero power meter pedal using Bluetooth. The app works as a pretty decent bike computer. It's missing a lap function, and the average power drops during stops (which may be fine for short high-intensity sessions, but I don't think it's helpful for >5hour rides). The app uses about 15% battery per hour on my iPhone X, so can get a 6 hour ride in pretty easily, and that's with the screen on (using the auto-dim function). If it had a lap function, and configurable screens, for outdoor rides, it'd be close to 5 star for me I reckon

### 5/5 — Solid training tool

*2021-03-29, version 2.2.8*

Xert is remarkable for measuring performance and setting achievable progress. Biggest surprise for me was how it accurately predicted my 6-week performance target!

### 2/5 — Phone on a phone but rubbish on an iPad as doesn’t use the full screen

*2021-01-31, version 2.2.3*

Why not make the app use the full screen?

### 5/5 — Awesome training

*2020-08-04, version 2.2.2*

This player is perfect in combination with zwift and your Garmin. But it is important to switch off all notifications to avoid crashes. So now it works fine for me. Their support is fast if you have Problem. Keep going!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2020-06-08, version 2.2.2*

This is a great product. Had been using trainer road for a couple of years but this works brilliantly with iPhone a Wahoo kickr. The workouts are varied and xert recommends them in accordance with your fitness signature and what you usually do on that day of the week. The TR workouts were sometimes impossible - and often I would fail predictably at a given point - suggesting that FTP was missing something. MPA ( maximum power available) in Xert describes this perfectly. With xert workouts get harder as you get fitter but I am usually able to complete them. Plus every few weeks you try and better your signature with a breakthrough. The fitness signature is very accurate and predicts what I can do outside. It funny to find yourself wishing that a hill was longer so that you can get a breakthrough. A lot of the xert info is quite scientific but I would recommend just going with it and feeding it data. It won’t make you strong without pain - but it helps a lot.

### 3/5 — Improve with health app

*2020-05-05*

Hey,

It would improve greatly if the app read the health app data and exploited the apple watch.

Thx

### 2/5 — Latest version drops ERG trainer control

*2019-11-06, version 2.1.2*

When you pause the workout, I now lose ERG mode and have to disconnect and reconnect my trainer to continue the session properly. As long as you don’t have to pause and step away, it seems to work as it always had. Support has the ticket and are looking into it, but I’ve just been told this is expected behavior.

### 2/5 — Slow adaption

*2019-10-03, version 2.1.1*

On average, it took 6 seconds to adapt the trainer (Wahoo Kickr) in ERG move to the planned resistance. User experience is not for me. Didn't save my workout (might be my mistake).

### 5/5 — Great training tool.

*2019-09-25, version 2.1.1*

The Xert team is constantly improving their system and support software!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is a very lazy & poor adaptation of the website

*2025-05-01, version 3.2.1*

There is not an intuitive way to look at interval power numbers or send workouts to Zwift/Garmin/etc.

This app is functionally useless.

### 1/5 — Wouldn’t connect

*2025-04-09, version 3.2.1*

The app recognizes my trainer and I can select it, but it won’t connect. The app recognizes my hr strap and shows data though. I don’t have this problem on my iPad, only my iPhone.

### 1/5 — Absolut Unbrauchbar👎 ein Stern noch zu viel!

*2024-01-17, version 3.2.1*

### 1/5 — Timer on app not working properly

*2023-09-25, version 3.2.1*

The countdown timer goes by 2 for few seconds then by 1 for few seconds!
All other similar apps work properly with my bike/ipad mini6/iphone14promax (zwift, fulgaz, mywhoshh.)
If the countdown is not reliable how do you know that all numbers spewed by the app are reliable? I guess they are not! Even with this issue brought to their attention i was charged like nothing happened! “Is your setup, thank you for your money, we cannot fix it (not even try!)”
Worst app support; there is no support! They just let you know what you already know! 0 stars

### 1/5 — Nothing loads

*2023-03-06, version 3.2.1*

Seems like they’ve abandoned this app as it doesn’t do anything

### 1/5 — Can't login

*2021-10-24, version 3.1.9*

Ipad 3, password/login checked via Safary

### 1/5 — How?!

*2020-04-13, version 2.1.7*

I've just registered through the app. (No description of what it is the app does or what I'm signing up for!)
Created a profile through a horrible mobile interface that overflows off the edge of the page.
Now I've been told my FTP is 200 and I can't see any way to update it.
No indication as to what I'm supposed to do now.
Really REALLY poor experience.

### 1/5 — It’s a workout trying to register

*2019-09-01, version 2.1*

Download this app, filled out registration.. still waiting for email notification to complete the registration process!

### 1/5 — Unimpressed. Too high expectations possible.

*2019-06-27, version 2.0.3*

Great self coaching concepts but some long, long, miles away from competing with other indoor options in both the software GUI and this users experience.

### 1/5 — Bugs bugs bugs

*2019-06-13, version 2.0.3*

Don’t save results in 50% of training sessions. Support not respond. :(

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Better than TR

*2025-02-27, version 3.2.1*

After using Trainer Road for two years, I decided to try Xert. By far a superior training platform. Truly specific to the individual, not a cookie cutter plan. The setup/on boarding is more difficult to sort out, but worth it. I watched the YouTube videos and it all made sense.

### 5/5 — Changes the way you view cycling

*2024-11-19, version 3.2.1*

You can’t review this app without reviewing Xert in general. The app itself is just a small extension and it does its job.

The real value is Xert itself. Not only can it continuously adapt your training to your life (not the other way around), but they have genius ways to mathematically model your cycling efforts and progress.

There’s a learning curve to wrapping your head around all the new KPIs, but the payoff is greater fitness and a much better understanding of your cycling ability.

### 5/5 — Comprehensive, sophisticated, accurate

*2023-06-07, version 3.2.1*

This app knows what I can do in terms of work and performance

It accurately predicts my abilities when I am in hard effort, and knows my point of failure. When you need to recover, when you are ready to push your boundaries.

So many features with a user friendly interface.

You should try if you are serious about your training.

### 5/5 — Great all around training aid

*2023-05-30, version 3.2.1*

This is one amazing app. It tracks your statistics and measures them for you from your power meter data, and tells you important data like FTP, LTP, peak Power, etc. it then takes this data and gives you a virtual training plan on a daily basis based on your data, your progression and tiredness level (which the app also calculates). There are. A time of awesome workouts and you can join groups and do group sessions together. It’s the one app you need for virtual training and monitoring of all of your activities.

### 5/5 — Great training aid and cool metrics

*2023-05-20, version 3.2.1*

This is the best training app/software I’ve used. The adaptive trainer takes all the guess work out of planning your training and keeps it interesting. I come out of winter training now in better shape than I am at end of outdoor season. The on bike metrics you get are super cool. The fitness modeling it does is amazingly accurate at predicting what you can do. I can’t ride/train without XERT anymore.

### 5/5 — Great training app

*2023-05-19, version 3.2.1*

Love Xert to track my fitness, analyze data and understand fatigue levels.

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2021-09-27, version 3.0.1*

This app and the underlying tech realize the dream of analytics applied to conditioning and fitness. It is supported by an energetic user community in addition to the devs themselves. I tried several other bike trainer apps before discovering this. Deleted the others. Can you tell I love it?

### 5/5 — All you need to train

*2021-07-15, version 3.0.1*

Using their smart training programs, you always have a bunch of suitable workouts to choose from that will fit your needs and current training load. It’s always spot on.

### 5/5 — Great Platform to Keep Training on Track

*2021-05-28, version 2.2.8*

Can recommend this app. Keeps training on track. Many different workout / interval types not included in other platforms. At a minimum you will need power for doing interval sessions indoors. Works great with my Tacx Neo.

### 5/5 — I love this app!

*2021-05-02, version 2.2.8*

I’ve got Xert to power my indoor cycling setup. I’m loving it so far...4 weeks into it. Still have some features and parameters to learn about but it’s not that difficult to learn as you go. Tech support has been super responsive, even suggesting a Zoom call to speed up the setup explanation. As I said, 4 weeks of Xerting every morning and I’m still loving it.
