I used to review photo apps for a living, so this one is great in it’s simplicity & reminds me of simple apps in the early days like camerabag. It has straightforward simple pricing, but needs a few features to really be great. The developer seems responsive & quick to update which is great. I’d like to see them keep tweaking the film sims. Portra is my fave but most films are heavy handed with the blur/mist/halation/soft focus whatever you want to call it, which make them feel a bit like the tacky 1980’s portraits that all looked like the lens was covered with a stocking or Vaseline. Less soft focus please! Lots of new features have been added. New film styles, ability to change lens, exposure compensation, exif, etc etc. I look forward to future versions. Keep up the good work. I love the simplicity of the app, I have found other photography apps off putting as they try to cram as many features and manual controls as possible to mimic the functions of an SLR/mirrorless camera. Would love to see these additional options over time: - Portrait Mode - Tap to Focus (and focus/exposure lock) - Selfie mode (front-facing camera) - Self timer - An “HDR” or max-latitude mode to allow us to do post-processing (since RAW is not available) - A no-filter mode - Tri-X 400 😍 - Sprocket emulation (see sprocket rocket and other cameras). Could be neat to simulation harsh processing that results in surge marks coming from the sprocket holes, randomized so they’re not always the same. ### 5/5 — This App Is Fun! *2024-10-15* Love it. I don’t know if I’m gonna take photos which aren’t selfies in any other way ever again! I wish I could share the photos I’ve taken just this weekend! Epic! Love it and thank you so much to the developer for the article on Medium about which modes work best in which situations. Amazing work! ### 5/5 — My standard photo app now *2024-10-12* Seriously - I even open the app now directly with the action button. I mostly shoot film and almost didn’t take any digital iPhone photos anymore. This app works absolutely perfectly, the film simulations are great and not overdone (appreciate that you didn’t add grain etc) and iPhone photos are fun again! Thank you very much for this little miracle app! One suggestion: when showing the frame lines, I feel the final image should only be what’s inside the lines, not everything also outside. I would really like to be able to set the focus point. I know most people will use this for far away landscapes where focus point is not important but I’d liked to get a bit closer & more creative. This app is delivering so much value, it’s almost painful. Hands down, the best niche photo app I’ve ever used. Skylines? Awesome. Street scenes straight out of film noir? So no more. Random wide angle shots you never would have considered before? Of course. Startet nicht. ### 3/5 — Worthy Effort, and Much Appreciated *2024-10-06* I most definitely like this app, however it still lacks some things that I hope the developer is working to add. The biggest thing to me is to add an option for NOT applying a film simulation. Yes, I know we can have it save an unprocessed image, but I’d rather have the option to turn off the film simulations and not save two images per shot. It would also be nice to have some additional options for black and white, like color filters, and NOT force us to use film simulations. And lastly, perhaps most important, please give us a preview of the image in the viewfinder! If I’m shooting B/W, it’d be nice to see the preview in B/W. In any case, thanks for creating this app. I love the wide angle format, and to be able to do it right on my phone is HUGE to me!!!! ### 3/5 — Meh *2024-09-09* Simple interface makes it easy to take a “classic” style pano. However, the app only produces a 6mp jpeg on an iPhone 15 Pro which is basically useless for anything other than a lackluster social media post. I’d say the app is just about worth the current 99 cent price. **Developer response:** You can enable the 48mp sensor in the Settings.app page of the app. You can also select lossless HEIC saving there. I looked into supporting RAW but you can’t crop or alter raw images so that makes it not very useful for this app because it needs at least cropping. ### 3/5 — Not good quality! *2024-09-09* Idea not bad, but the photos will be with 6 MP from 48 MP, too bad. **Developer response:** You can enable the 48mp sensor in the Settings app (and choose lossless HEIF too). I know ProRAW can’t be saved with crop and adjustment baked in. It doesn’t do much to be honest- simple filters and framing. But it makes a huge difference to how I perceive the shot. Amazing. I’d love to be able to record videos with it though. Update: I think I was mistaken. Please correct me if I’m wrong but it seems that it bypasses all the apple’s processing producing much more natural and pleasing pictures. I’ve wanted an xpan forever, but they are so damn expensive and if they break, no one nowadays can fix them. This app, while not exactly the same experience as shooting an actual xpan, creates amazing results, and is an absolute joy to use. I also appreciate the film sims and zoom modes. A simple point and shoot. My preferred mode is Daylight since Portra was one of my favorite film stocks. Wish there was a way to turn off the volume buttons from being the shutter button, otherwise great app. ### 5/5 — Exceptional! *2025-02-09* While I’m by no means a professional photographer, I know my way around film simulations—both through post-editing and as a Fujifilm camera user, as well as an occasional 35mm/120mm shooter. This app continues to enchant with its wonderful simplicity and exceptionally well-calibrated simulations.
