### 4/5 — Great workouts but the app itself needs more functionality,

*2025-05-29*

I just signed up for the monthly subscription and the functional hypertrophy program I’m using currently is fantastic.

Some functions I’d like to see added..

1. Ability to input and track weight & reps for each exercise week on week throughout the program.
Since the premise of each program is typically progressive overload.. I currently have to track my weight and reps through another note taking app which is rather annoying,

2. Ability to skip exercises or reorder them during a workout.
Currently, once you enter a workout you’re kind of stuck with it until the end. Some level of flexibility here would be great when working around injury/ tight joints / muscles etc.

Overall though, I love the quality of the content and look forward to trying more programs.

### 4/5 — Good, could be Great

*2024-11-14*

Need some new content, breathing specifically.

### 3/5 — Pretty good but needs improvement

*2023-09-11*

Subscribed to try Andy Galpin’s functional hypertrophy program - the man is a genius. Generally happy but have been frustrated with bugs and glitches: this morning I couldn’t find my program anywhere so had to click through to find it via “learn more”. Up to Week 2 and was confused as Day 1 session was slightly different from Day 1 in Wk 1, even though it said “not much different his week.” Then not long ago my program appeared in My Feed - clicked into it and yes, the session I was SUPPOSED to do was different from the one I actually did. Really frustrating. Bug 2: certain exercises in the program don’t seem to be same for left & right side; differing rep numbers or slightly different exercise. Don’t know if this is intentional for some reason. Bug 3: you can complete a session but if you exit it in the wrong way at the end, it doesn’t register as being completed. Surely there’s a way for the app to know that all exercises have been done and mark it complete that way?? I suggest the developers do some user interviews and make some improvements. Could easily get to 5 stars if fix some of these things. I would be happy to provide more feedback.

### 4/5 — The workout programs are great.

*2023-03-09*

All the other information and guidance I also found valuable. Great well rounded workout. The app itself can use some work, that’s why the 4 stars. I’m at a gym and I can’t get to all equipments whenever I’m supposed to so I prefer to skip it get back to it when the it’s free, but the app doesn’t allow me to do that. I’ll have to ff or keep going back through all the exercises I’ve already done. Quite frustrating.

### 5/5 — Totally amazing and comprehensive elite fitness app!

*2021-12-26, version 2.0.0*

Totally amazing and comprehensive elite fitness app!

### 5/5 — I wish I never updated…

*2021-12-22*

I’ve used the XPT app for at least 2 years now, nearly every day for the last year. I’ve encountered a lot of hardships since COVID and cannot afford the paid version.
At least I had access to the breath-work and other sessions that were invaluable to me for the past year. Sadly, it seems I won’t be able to continue to use this app since those selections that were free are free no longer. I am grateful for what I could learn while it was available to me, and look forward to a time in the future when I can afford to have access to those protocols again.

### 5/5 — XPT

*2021-12-21*

Great app for understanding your own body and its fundamental mechanics. Highly recommend for the curious mind.

### 3/5 — Now only paid tier

*2021-12-21, version 2.0.0*

A heads up would have been nice, some of those free sessions were ones I used every day. I understand the way, just some communication up front would be good.

### 5/5 — The Best

*2021-12-10, version 2.0.0*

You want this app

### 5/5 — Breathwork applications are excellent!

*2021-12-10, version 2.0.0*

Great App!

### 5/5 — Amazing App!

*2021-12-07*

Absolutely love the variety of training programs and breathing protocols.

### 5/5 — aloha

*2021-12-04*

laird is a legend. would love to train with him one day!!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the comment legenday218, we agree. All we can say is that the XPT Life app will be the closest you can get to training (remotely) with Laird outside of our in-person XPT Experiences. Keep an eye on the website for new dates for XPT Experiences in 2022.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-12-17*

XPT is a scam. They raised money for a recovery center that they never opened, and now they refuse to refund any of the money despite acknowledging that it won’t open. Stay away from this app, but more importantly, stay away from the company.

### 1/5 — Protocols aren’t working

*2025-11-06*

I’ve used this for years but recently the breathing protocols haven’t been working. They never actually load up and play. Those are the sole reason I use the app. Otherwise I’ve loved the app but this needs to be addressed

### 1/5 — Locked out of my premium account

*2025-01-05*

Locked out and the forget password does not work

### 1/5 — App is extremely buggy

*2023-01-28*

I think the content on this app might be great for what I’m looking for, but the app is very buggy. Pictures don’t load, workout programs don’t load, etc. I see they haven’t released an update in a year. Maybe this app is no longer being maintained.

### 1/5 — Removed all the free exercises

*2021-12-27, version 2.0.0*

I just downloaded the new version and everything is locked unless you pay the $125 per year fee. They used to have some free workouts breathing exercises.

### 1/5 — Used to be somewhat free…

*2021-12-26*

Don’t update the app if you can help it. Everything is now locked unless you pay a heavy subscription fee… really bummed because I loved what was available here.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed with the update and new interface

*2021-12-10*

Lost all progress and now the app is clunky feeling. Unfortunately made me cancel my subscription.

### 1/5 — Update took away all the access!

*2021-12-02*

I used to absolutely love this app. Used it multiple times a day and it became a really useful tool to calm my nerves during a stressful day, or help get amped up for a workout using the breathing protocols. Unasked for update removed all of that!! Very frustrated

**Developer response:** The new XPT Life app experience was designed to bring our community the very best from XPT including workouts, training programs, breathing protocols, and more. In order to create, serve and support the highest-quality content and experiences on a continuous basis, certain sections of the app, including Performance Breathing, are exclusively available to paid subscribers.

We’re so glad you have and continue to see value in XPT’s breathing content and encourage you to sign up for a 7-day free trial to experience everything the app has to offer before deciding if you would like to invest in continuing access to XPT Life app content. The experience and offering will only continue to get better.

### 1/5 — Xpt app

*2020-02-04, version 1.0.8*

This app does not working :( i hope fixeit as soon as possible

### 1/5 — I don't understand the purpose of this app

*2019-10-10, version 1.0.3*

Nothing seems to work as intended. There is a lot of intention on the sections being connected, but don't think it was done well enough before launching. Hopefully in the future, the app performs better. No way to log your own workouts and the ones they provide are poorly explained for the average person to understand. Sorry guys, missed the boat here.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best workouts

*2025-09-27*

This is by far my favorite work out app. They do everything right.

### 5/5 — The best of the best.

*2025-01-31*

Cutting edge physiologists, cutting edge workouts, practical tools, endless possibilities…it really is the best. Remarkable product.

### 5/5 — Best Ever

*2025-01-07*

First time using the XPT APP … clear instructions great videos easy to follow along to counter is a bonus .. gift from my daughter best one ever

### 5/5 — Best I’ve found

*2024-08-23, version 2.1.2*

As an ex Spartan/OCR racer at a decent level, I’ve had PT’s and tried numerous apps. I stopped paying for this one a year or so back as live in a super outdoorsy active place. Then I realized I’ve only been running, mtb, moto, skiing and using the outdoors as my gym. Got injured and tried a few other free apps and looked at Calibre, wow $200 a month for the plan suggested! Immediately went back to this, my productivity shot up, instructions are clear, great programmes with or without weights, links to Spotify, it has to be one of the best for the money out there IMO. Absolutely love this app, breath work, endurance, strength, mobility, it’s got everything. Well worth the money. Great job guys 🙏🏼💪🏼

### 5/5 — Best fitness app for peak primal, functional fitness

*2024-08-07*

Hands down best fitness app I’ve used for body and mind. Love that there are activities for functional fitness, then breathing exercises for psyching up or winding down. Laird’s breath exploration is worth the price of admission alone. Sauna and ice protocols are cool too.

### 5/5 — Design elements of the app

*2024-07-10*

XPT App is intuitive to use, and well organized. It is designed to be clean and have an element of simplicity. Not cluttered. It’s reliable and tasteful! Content is 100.

### 5/5 — XPT

*2023-12-28*

I have been using XPT for almost 2 years now and it has been a game changer! I workout in my home gym and am able to do most of the workouts and programs with the equipment I have (Dumbells up to 50, pull up bar and assault bike). The one thing I would like to see more of is stretching or a cool down at the end of the workouts. It seems like that is the only missing piece.

Keep up the good work!

Ryan

### 5/5 — Incredible

*2023-08-26*

Truly an incredible well thought out program. The price is great and the programs are even better

### 5/5 — Mungo Murray

*2023-07-05*

Love what xpt represents and the vision they have . Did the breathwork course and loved it . This app is loaded with good stuff

### 5/5 — Awesome upgrade

*2021-12-28*

After having the previous version of the app for two years and being a paid member, the new app is far more user friendly and intuitive. Great job XPT team!
