Yam Display is great and still works fine on macOS Tahoe. I can’t get Yam Air to work at all however. Would be great to be uncalled but it’s just not working for me despite strong wifi.

I’m so sick and tired of buying apps that promise the world and then fail to deliver. This one allows me to control the MacMini when I’m in the basement with my iPad 9amd even iPhone!)Yes, it’s a bit laggy, but not to the point where it’s annoying. But no, not okay for movie watching. I got the USB app, but didn’t need it, the “Air” version works great. It would be 5 stars if I could also stream the audio from the MacMini, but maybe wishful thinking. This solved a MAJOR problem for me, so thumbs up.

This app is probably one of the best duet alternatives ever. I downloaded this version because 1. The free version has a cap of 7 minutes every time you connect so you have to reconnect. 2. The wired (non-free/regular) version is 8 dollars and the air version is only 4 dollars.
I thought this was going to be great, and it was, but it’s very laggy, and sometimes it bugs out.. for example:
1: sometimes the screen goes black and it just shows and tracks the movements of the Mac cursor. To get it to work again, I have to close the app and open it again.
2: It’s just laggy in general. I don’t know if it is a problem with my Mac, or if there is something the devs can fix.
That’s my whole review on this app. If the devs of this app see this, please try to fix the bugs I am having, that would be great!

Hi. App is very nice and useful but since I have purchased it, screen hangs and lags a lot while moving cursor or doing activity. Please help me to improvise off this. If this is the case with Air, could you please refund me the amount, so that I can try Yam Display instead of Yam Air.

Im using an old iPad air 2 as a second monitor, its a little bit slower than connecting through cable but it’s worth it!

Ich nutze die „Yam“-Apps sowohl auf macOS als auch auf iOS. Dieser erleichtern mir die tägliche Arbeit enorm - und kosten dabei so gut wie nichts! Für Produktivanwender nicht nur eine uneingeschränkte Empfehlung, sondern auch dem Konkurrenten Duet (das im Abo RICHTIG viel Geld kostet …) haushoch überlegen.

So nutze ich die Apps:

- mit ZWEI MacBooks, wenn ich mir zwei Bildschirme wünsche (auf dem Hauptgerät läuft YamDisplay, das es auf der Homepage des Herstellers gibt; auf die Zielgerät „Yam Air Desk“, das im Appstore für 8,99 € zu haben ist)

- mit einem MacBook und meinem iPad als erweitertem Bildschirm (warum nicht die Apple-eigene Lösung hier? Einfach: iPad und Mac laufen über zwei unterschiedliche iCloud-Accounts, da geht das einfach nicht …); wenn man die Geräte per USB-Kabel verbindet, lädt das iPad nicht nur, sondern der Bildschirm läuft auch zu 100% Verzögerungsfrei

Also: Nicht von dem niedrigen Preis abschrecken lassen 😅. Wirklich kein Vergleich zu „Duet“, das nicht nur schweineteuer ist, sondern auch immer wieder Probleme aufwirft (wer dennoch mit dem Konkurrenten liebäugelt, sollte sich mal die Reddit-Beiträge dazu des letzten Jahres anschauen - und dann ganz schnell Abstand halten).

Grandioses App-Paket! Ein Segen für alle, die ihren Mac oder ihr iPad produktiv, mobil und dennoch mit ordentlich Screen Real Estate nutzen wollen. Bei den Entwicklern kann ich mir nur ganz herzlich bedanken - das hier ist nichts anderes als ein verborgenes Juwel 💎.

iphone16PlusをM1macBookAir(2020)のサブディスプレイとして使用しています。問題なく動作しました。やはり、画面がカクついたり動かなくなることもありますが、基本的には非常に滑らかに描画されます。遅延は、私にはもはや認識できません。

For me it works as expected! I could revive an old iPad 2 (yeap, it’s still alive) that I couldn’t use not even to navigate through Safari.
Now it is a third monitor that I use to play YouTube or to keep Figma open.
It’s cool that it’s not laggy. I bought both Air and Plugged apps and I really think the Air works better (I don’t get why).

I like this app, don’t know why it has bad reviews. I use it with my Mac Mini M2 and iPad pro, it works very well if you stable internet connection. 
Hope they keep working on it.

If you haven’t already tried Sidecar, give it a try before buying this app since it’s free functionality built into may Macs/iPads. However, if you’re like me and experiencing constant freezing with Sidecar, Yam is god-sent. It works flawlessly and adds touchscreen functionality (beautiful). I also considered Duet, but ultimately went with Yam since it’s a one-time fee versus subscription. So pleased!!
