## What is Yap?

Yap is a language learning app that provides daily vocabulary in your target language and level. Throughout the day, Yap will also provide example sentences using the new vocab word to reinforce your learning.

You can add the Yap widget to your phone homescreen to get constant and convenient language learning.

30+ languages supported. Is your language missing? Email contactyapapp@gmail.com and we'll try to add it.

Our sentences are generated by ChatGPT to be interesting, challenging, and appropriate for any level. By reading full sentences in your target language, you acquire vocab and grammar naturally and in context.

Why use Yap?

Two critical keys to learning a language to fluency is (1) consistent practice and (2) consuming comprehensible input.

1. As any language teacher will tell you, consistency is key. If you aren't practicing your target language daily, your progress is bound to be slow, and you'll have a much harder time internalizing new grammar and vocab.

2. Equally as important is the concept of Comprehensible Input, or consuming the right level of content. You need to be studying content just slightly outside your comfort zone, so that you learn new vocab and grammar in context, much like a how a baby naturally acquires their first language. Too easy means you aren't learning anything new, and too difficult means nothing will stick.

Unfortunately, finding the time and discipline for consistent practice is near impossible for most people. And, finding language learning content at a suitable level can be even harder (is Duolingo too easy but movies are too tough?).

That's where Yap can help. Yap is a language learning flashcard app that gives you full sentences in your target language, challenging and interesting for any level. By reading full sentences, you use context to figure out unfamiliar words and grammar. We use AI to generate sentences fit for your level (and soon enough, tailored to your interests), ensuring our content will always be productive for you.

By limiting content to one sentence at a time, we break language study into convenient, bite-sized chunks, making it easier to make time in your busy day to consume input in your target language. As an added bonus, we created the Yap widget, so you can add the sentence flashcard to your phone's homescreen and get quick language exposure every time you open your phone.
