## What is Yap!!?

Yap!! is a local-first voice memo app for people who think out loud.

Tap the mic when an idea shows up, keep moving, and come back at wrap-time. Yap!! records your voice memos, transcribes them on device when available, finds action items and recurring themes, and turns the day into a polished report you can open, save, or share.

Version 2.2 adds Loose Ends: Yap!! now threads commitments, decisions, risks, and questions across days, parses spoken deadlines, and shows follow-through context alongside the existing Decision Brief workflow. Every number on Loose Ends taps through to the exact sentence on your own recording.

### 2.2 — 2026-08-18

Version 2.2 adds Loose Ends — commitment threading across days. Yap!! links the decisions, commitments, risks, and questions you speak across different days into single threads. The Loose Ends tab shows follow-through, your oldest open thread, and contradictions — and every number taps through to the exact sentence on your own recording. Spoken deadlines become due dates. Everything is computed on-device from your transcripts.

### 2.1 — 2026-06-28

Version 2.1 adds Decision Briefs for daily wraps. Yap!! now pulls decisions, risks, next moves, and follow-up questions from your transcripts, then includes them in the wrap result and exported PDF. This update also refreshes the App Store screenshots, website copy, metadata, and review notes.

### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-26

This update sharpens the interface: the iPad layout now uses a centered, comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge, plus small display fixes. iPhone is unchanged.

• On-device mood: every memo is scored for sentiment, with a mood emoji and a daily read.
• Insights tab: your mood trend, top words, peak hour, and busiest day of the week.
• Mood calendar heatmap: a whole month at a glance.
• Talking-habits analytics: words per minute, filler words, and vocabulary richness.
• "On this day" memories and a topic cloud from what you've said.
• Action Inbox: the to-dos pulled from your memos become a real, checkable list.
• A daily reflection prompt deck for the days you're not sure where to start.

Your audio is transcribed entirely on your phone — nothing is ever uploaded.

Yap!! 1.2 - What's New

Search your yaps. A new Search tab lets you find any voice memo by keyword - title, transcript, or focus tag. Results are ranked by relevance and show a highlighted excerpt from the matching transcript. Everything happens on-device.

Capture streaks. Yap!! now tracks your daily capture habit. A streak banner on the Today tab shows your current streak, longest streak, and total days captured. A full stats card in Settings shows total yaps, total minutes, and average minutes per day.

Export transcripts. Export all your transcripts (or a single day's) as a plain-text file (.txt, markdown-compatible) or a CSV spreadsheet. Plain text pastes cleanly into Obsidian, Notion, or any editor. CSV opens in Numbers or Excel. Exported from the Library (per day) or Settings (all time). All files stay on your device.
