## What is YardTime?

YardTime keeps neighboring dogs from meeting at the fence.

If your dog and the dog next door bark up a storm whenever they're both out back, YardTime gives you a shared, real-time yard status so you can take turns — no more changing a group-chat photo to "dog" and hoping everyone notices.

One tap tells your neighbors the yard is taken. A timer frees it up automatically. And the moment it's clear, everyone gets a heads-up.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT

• One-tap status — "Let Rex out," and your neighbors know instantly.
• Timers that check in — pick 15, 30, or 60 minutes (or open-ended). When time's up you get a nudge to extend or bring them in, and the yard frees itself if you've moved on. No more forgetting to flip it back.
• "Yard is clear" alerts — get notified the second it's your turn, and let your dogs out with one tap right from the alert.
• At-a-glance widgets — home screen and lock screen show clear or occupied without opening the app.
• Live Activity — a countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while your dog is out.
• A shared recent-activity feed — who let dogs out and when the yard cleared, the same on every phone in the group.
• Hands-free — say "Hey Siri, let the dog out," or map it to the Action Button, for when you've already got a dog by the collar.
• A heads-up before your dog goes out on top of a neighbor's — in the app, from Siri or an NFC tag, on the widget, on your watch. Nobody's dogs meet at the fence by accident.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3 — 2026-09-13

YardTime now speaks German. Every screen, the widgets, the Live Activity, the Apple Watch app and its complication, Siri, and every notification follow your iPhone's language. If you'd rather pick a language just for YardTime, the new Language row in Settings takes you straight there. Deutsch ist da!

### 1.2.5 — 2026-09-07

If a neighbor's dogs are already out, YardTime now asks before letting yours join them — no matter how you tap. Siri, a Shortcuts automation on an NFC tag, the home-screen widget, your watch, and the buttons on notifications all check first. Where there's a screen, you get "Sarah is out until 3:40 PM — let Rex out anyway?"; the widget sends a notification with a one-tap "Let them out anyway" instead. Confirming always wins, and the ask goes away on its own the moment your status changes.

### 1.2.4 — 2026-09-06

Everyone now sees the same recent activity. The feed of who let dogs out and when the yard cleared is shared with your group, so a new phone — or a neighbor who just joined — sees the last few comings and goings right away instead of an empty list.

When the "Yard is clear" alert arrives, one tap lets your dogs out for 30 minutes, straight from the notification.

If you share a household, the timer reminders reach everyone in it. Whoever let the dog out can walk off; the other phone still hears "still out?", the last call, and "time to head out" for a planned yard time — and answering on either phone clears it on both.

A neighbor's upcoming yard time now shows on your widgets, your watch and the Live Activity, the same way the app shows it, so "Sarah's heading out at 9:30 PM" is there at a glance while your dogs are out.

### 1.2.3 — 2026-08-31

A timer running out no longer clears the yard by itself. Now YardTime asks first: when the timer ends you get a nudge — extend or bring them in — and the yard stays marked occupied while it waits for your answer, with a last call before it finally clears itself half an hour later. Until then, neighbors see the honest "out past 3:30 PM" everywhere, instead of a yard that reads free while your dog is still sniffing the fence.

That also means the "yard is clear" ping only arrives when it's actually true.

Plus some polish: VoiceOver now speaks which day a planned yard time is for, and leaving a group says goodbye in words that fit who you are in it.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-08-25

Plan your yard time. If you know you want the yard at 7:30, say so: pick a start time in the next 24 hours and how long you need, and your neighbors see it coming — "Heading out 7:30–8:00 AM" — instead of finding out at the fence. When your time arrives, YardTime nudges you and the dogs go out with one tap.

It stays a heads-up, never a lock. If a neighbor already has that window you'll see it before you plan, and either of you can still go. A plan you don't use clears itself.

The main screen reads easier too — a lighter roster, and a neighbor's plan shows up front when it's about to start.
