I attached a fridge magnet to my swift’s shoulder and followed the app instructions. I use my iPhone. 
Used the app a few times already , no hiccups, makes handspunner life so much easier!
I will also use it for my store bought yarn to check the leftovers yardage.

I use an Ashford Kiwi skein winder with a regular fridge magnet and it’s awesome! 
An amazing app for anyone who uses yarn - knitters, crocheter, spinners! Accurately measures:
• yardage in those old stashed skeins
• hand spun off the bobbin
• rewinding leftover balls into skeins for better stashing
