This makes it not worth following. Glad I am not a sponsor of this race, as it would be a waste of my dollars. ### 2/5 — Very unstable app *2023-05-27* This app is gradually getting less stable. Lack of development and updates is showing with various usability issues being encountered. For example (using the RORC Myth of Malham race) the app has frozen 3 times during zoom. It now only loads with a blank page or displays the map but is locked. Yellow Brick you need to do more work on this as it won’t cope with the Fastnet 2023. ### 2/5 — Poor *2023-03-22* Trying to look at the Golden Globe race positions, but what’s the point of mixing sailors of the current edition with some of previous ones? This makes the map unreadable. Totally ridiculous. ### 2/5 — Terrible app *2023-01-31* One of the most prestigious races in the world, and an app that does not keep up. It’s almost totally unusable for all of the races that I did this year since it crashes almost immediately. It lacks any features that would let me follow the team I want to keep track of in a race other than that they still exist. ### 2/5 — Looks good but doesn’t update *2022-09-09* Just downloaded the app to follow the GGR2022. Worked the first few days of the race - now no longer updating positions. This requires setting up laptop and looking at the website. It will be extremely frustrating if this is the best it can do as the race will be over nine months! ### 3/5 — Kinda functional, poor user interface design *2022-06-19* I appreciate this is a free app and by and large it works ok. However there’s no obvious way to remove races you’re no longer interested in, which reflects a generally poor user experience. I’ve also noticed that I will sometimes have to launch the app three or four times before it actually works. ### 1/5 — Worst app ever to follow sailing races *2021-08-09* Following a sailing race from the armchair is all about understanding what is happening on the course and on each vessel; it is all about data: wind, currents, and boat speed and course, comparing these data in a specific time range give the juice of it. Well NONE, absolutely noneof this is doable in this horrendous app, wind representation is absolutely horrible. Using this app is a continuous accidental jibe! Stop it! ### 2/5 — Confusing *2021-07-19* I cant make heads or tails of the listing for races. No explanation of what the column headings are and i they mixed data types in the table cells. Nice visuals and didn't crash for me as some complained. But hard to tell what some of it means. ### 1/5 — The worst version yet *2021-07-18* I’d give it zero stars if I could. I’ve been using this app to track the Chicago Mac Race for years and this is by far the worst version yet. These are my top three issues: 1) You cannot save favorite teams, you have to go through the process of finding your teams every time you open the app. 2) You cannot tag a boat and have it highlighted on the map. 3) You cannot select and follow a single boat within a team, you have to see all of them. You’ve done much better in the past, fix this for next year! ### 2/5 — Vendee Globe *2020-11-13* I can’t understand why the Vendee Globe, the most impressive and important race along with the Golden Globe isn’t part of the listing. That’s a major mistake. I hope you guys will fix this as soon as possible, as the race started already 5 days ago. I would have rated this app much higher if I could find the Vendee Globe among all the races you follow. ### 3/5 — Good MVP, opportunities for improvement *2020-09-15* I’m happy to see more races converging towards this tracking app. However, some improvements need to be made to enhance the user interface. For instance: - the density of wind direction arrows should adapt to the scale of the map (currently when zooming out, the maps gets entirely covered with arrows); - settings should be conserved for the next visit; - the home button should take us straight to the home page instead of asking for confirmation; - time to the next update of boat positions should be provided on the map. Best, Yann ### 1/5 — Frustrating *2020-02-08* Really disappointing when you’re trying to follow a race, but since you’re using IOS device and you are not *allowed* to follow it in a browser instead of having to download this buggy, constantly crashing app that lacks something as simple as being able to search for a racer on the map page. Props for trying to support racing, but give us the option to use the browser app until you improve this app. Miserable experience, especially when there’s no option ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Next to useless *2026-07-18* As others have noted, this app is next to useless. The controls on the “new” viewer are horrible, and the legacy was barely passable to begin with. Nothing scales properly, and trying to rotate your screen to get some improvement somehow works even worse. If you can, try to use the website which is at least “ok.” ### 1/5 — Trash *2025-07-28* The app version will not let you read notes about boats that have retired, but when you go to the web version on an iOS device to try to read the notes there, it won’t let you as you need to use the app. They’ve now tried to fix this with their new race viewer, but after looking at 3 boats in the Fastnet Race Tracker, it crashes. ### 1/5 — They ruined it. *2025-07-22* New update is unusable, cannot click on a boat to save your life and glitches out when you try to use it. No one asked for a 3D viewer!! ### 1/5 — Destroyed *2025-07-22* This may be the single worst update to an app since apps began. Too much fun. Thank you. Great fun! ### 5/5 — Ms *2016-01-17* I'm following the London- Cape Town world record attempt. Loving the app. I've become addicted to checking the progress obsessively throughout the day. I look at the lads speed and where they are, then zoom out to see where they are in the current country. The history bar at the base is also interesting. On this particular journey it would have been informative to see the accumulative distance travelled. ### 5/5 — I love this app! *2015-07-15* The app works great and is an excellent way to follow the races. Like any app you have to learn its tricks, but it works like a charm. I don't understand the criticism about price. It's a relief to be able to pay a fair price for an online experience and have to worry about privacy issues. I wish my favorite online haunts even gave me that option. Kudos to the yb team! N.B. This rating interface is horrible- text disappears as I type and I keep having to manually insert "return." I don't recall rating an app before so I have no idea what it's going to look like. ### 5/5 — Good app *2014-08-15, version 3.04* Great for tracking plus a very helpful support team that responds and solves any issues. Top app. ### 5/5 — Update and customer service *2014-05-25* Updated this morning and nothing would work 😠. Emailed the company and got a response shortly after (on a Sunday as well!). Nick worked through the problems I was having with the app, even offering a refund if the suggested fixes didn't work. It took a while but we finally got there...
