## What is YDS Today?

YDS Today turns daily vocabulary study into a habit that actually sticks.
  
  Cramming long word lists the night before an exam doesn't work. YDS Today uses spaced repetition — a technique backed by decades of cognitive science
  research — to show you each word at exactly the moment you're about to forget it. Study a little every day and remember far more.

  HOW IT WORKS
  
  Each session shows you a flashcard with an English word. Tap the card to reveal the definition and an example sentence in context. Audio plays automatically
  so you hear the correct pronunciation every time — the word itself, the example sentence, and the definition, one after another.

  After revealing the card, rate how well you recalled it:

  · Again — forgot it completely
  · Hard — recalled with effort
  · Good — recalled correctly
  · Easy — knew it instantly

  Your rating tells the algorithm exactly when to show you that word again. Words you know well come back less often. Words you struggle with return sooner.
  Over time, your review sessions shrink while your retention grows.

- Dark Mode is here. Every icon, button, and setting now looks crisp and readable when your device switches to dark mode.
- Rating buttons you can actually tell apart. "I know" glows green and "I don't know" glows orange — no more identical beige buttons.
- Smarter activity colors. Your yearly study heatmap now adapts to your own pace, so casual reviewers and power users both see meaningful progress.
- Study cards now hint "Tap to reveal" on the front. First-time users will never wonder what to do next.
- Settings got a polish pass: audio toggles have better breathing room, the sheet gets a proper drag handle, and all on-screen instructions now match the actual two-button layout.
- VoiceOver and accessibility improvements throughout, including cleaner heatmap navigation.
