### 4/5 — One of the better ones

*2026-03-19*

This is one of their better games. But be prepared to use a lot of walk-through hints. Some of the puzzles make absolutely no sense, even with a hint. Like unlocking the safe at the bank. Still makes no sense to me whatsoever. But overall, a very good game, And it’s well worth the money.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review!

### 4/5 — It’s hard.

*2023-09-27*

I just downloaded this game last night . It’s a hard game . I’m not good at figuring out clues ( I’m old) so maybe it’s me and not the game. But I’m enjoying it.

### 5/5 — Difficult But Fun

*2023-07-27*

This game was a bit hard at times and had to use the hint guide, but I really enjoyed it. I liked the story line and traveling through time. You can tell that a lot of thought, time, and effort was put into this game. If you like challenging games with humor, original storylines and gameplay then I would recommend this game. I am off to buy another one of their games, because I liked this one so much.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review and for trying another of our games! Hope our hint guide was helpful. In future games, we're working on including more hints within the game itself as well as online.

### 5/5 — A classic in the making

*2023-06-26*

Fun, humorous, very tricky in places but never frustrating. Hints were essential but didn’t feel like spoilers. Now off to play everything else the team has ever made.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the nice review! We really appreciate it.

### 4/5 — Be prepared to bookmark the hints page

*2023-06-24, version 1.03*

It’s a fun game, but unfinishable without help

### 4/5 — great game, wish i could finish (SPOILERS)

*2023-06-10*

loved every minute up until the alien keypad. i used the alien repellent to scare everyone away but when i try to approach the keypad, my alien friend still says there are too many four-legged behind me. when i turn around the field is completely empty. i messaged the developer through their website but didn’t hear back. :(

still giving it four stars because i really liked the story and it’s been a long time since a point and click has challenged me without being totally illogical. i did use the hint system on their website a few times but the solutions always made sense (well, as much as p&c solutions ever make sense). the navigation was a bit confusing at first but i got the hang of it pretty quickly. i’m really disappointed that i didn’t get to see the ending but i still got hours of enjoyment out of it and i’m really looking forward to mysterycaper’s next game.

**Developer response:** Hi - So sorry about the confusion. Did you leave a comment on our hint message board or email us? We always try to answer every hint request, so we're really sorry to hear your message got lost somehow. In any event, we don't normally like to list hints here, but we can make an exception this time.

** Spoilers **

There are two things you need to do before your buddy will relax. Well, actually, three. You've already done one - scared the aliens away. But your friend is concerned they might return, so you need to cut off their access from the lighthouse island. This is done by going back in time to the earliest time zone and knocking the wall down from the hilltop. This will knock boulders into their path so they can't leave without crossing the water - they hate water. You also need to prevent the aliens in the "kennel club" from joining in. This is done by going to the empty house in the latest time period, going upstairs and pushing the bench in the way of the dog door.

Hope this helps, and sorry again your message was never received.

### 5/5 — Crazy play, puzzles and HOURS of fun

*2023-05-07*

Such fun, occasionally frustrating, but the devs have a robust hint system (Google is your friend) 😁

Loved the concept, the to-ing and fro-ing maybe could have been less subtle on the change overs at the fountain. But LOVED. The challenge.

Not just a point and click, but a very well thought out PUZZLE ADVENTURE that has humour, time loops, cute cats and even a very useful mule!

Thank you for all the hours of gameplay, that needed some time to work out devilish puzzles.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review! And glad you like the cats (and the mule). They're our favorite!

### 4/5 — Navigating is confusing

*2023-04-24*

Having finished the game, I’ve edited my rating and review. (The navigation tripped me up throughout the game. The developer’s response made sense and I appreciate it, but I think muscle memory kept kicking in and I couldn’t remain aware of different navigation on different screens.) IN any case, I forgot how well written this developer’s games are and how humorous. =) They know you’re going to tap on everything and so everything does something and/or there’s a comment. The “puzzles” ranged from pretty clear to mind-bending. I used several hints and sometimes thought Doh!, other times wasn’t sure I would have figured it out. Def recommend.
* * *
I have played all of this developer’s previous games, so I bought this one immediately. I expect the content will be similarly excellent once I can stop being utterly confused about where I’m going. Touching the screen “ahead” might bring you ahead or it might turn you around. After playing for 10 minutes, there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason and I had to stop playing.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the updated review. So glad you enjoyed the game. We try to add a high level of detail, and it's nice to know it's appreciated. And thanks for the feedback. Navigation is something we're constantly tweaking in new games, and it helps to know what works and what doesn't.
--
Sorry for the confusion. There are a couple places in the game, especially after traveling a long distance, where the game might turn you around so you're viewing the screen from the opposite angle. We tried to limit this to a few areas where we didn't want you to miss something important or for dramatic effect. In the early part of the game, this is mostly in the town square. When you come to the cafe, you have been walking for some distance and turn around to see the people seated around you. If you turn around (tap the hooked nav arrow) you are facing the fountain, which is the same direction you came in on. It probably seems a little strange, but it was important to see everything on both these screens. Later on, there are a few places where you come upon something dramatic, and the game turns you to face them because that seemed more natural. Again, sorry it frustrated you. We hope you give it another chance.

### 4/5 — Hervorragend

*2023-04-07, version 1.03*

### 5/5 — Fantastic! One of the best

*2023-02-28, version 1.03*

I’ve played so many point and click adventure games on iOS over the years and this one is easily in the top 10. I’ve played their previous games and this one is a huge step up. I can’t recommend this game enough.

Puzzles: The puzzles are logical and creative (which is a lot to ask). But even more impressive is that they fit into the story! The fantasy elements are even justified, which very few games are able to do in a satisfying way. (Typically other games just do a “this is all a dreamlike state” so that anything is justified. That gets old fast.)

Story: Great. It’s fun, surprising, and creative. The writing is funny and there is a sense of mystery. There is a lot of interaction and this is the first game in a while that I was happy to try every combination just to see the responses. The ending is certainly rushed, but that’s not a big knock.

Gameplay: This is where it shines. Hints at regular intervals, enough openness and non-linearity to make the puzzles difficult but not so much that I was left feeling completely lost.

There are a couple things that could be improved:

Navigation: This was a weird choice and the game hits you with it from moment one. If you go Forward 3 times, you end up turned around? I don’t know how they justified that to themselves. I see they wanted to give alternate angles to some scenes, but why? Now that I’m done playing it, that pretty much never came into play. Just have each angle be it’s own scene and then have linear, and more importantly, predictable movement. It isn’t at all important that you can only see the cafe while facing the ocean.

NON REPEATING RESPONSES:
This is really annoying when any game does this. In adventure games you end up tapping like crazy. If you then skip dialogue or a clue that way then I consider it a design flaw. Specifically: If you click the ‘facade’ it says the message only once and doesn’t repeat unless you leave and return. That got me stuck for a while.

SPOILERS:
I used two hints. One on the dollar bill, and this really hurt to use, because this type of puzzle should be up my alley. But in what has to be a massive coincidence, if you take the differences of the numbers (assuming blank is 0), and then multiply them, the result is 808080. And given the significance of the number 8 in the game, I was convinced that was the right track.

The second was the location of the thyme. I didn’t mind using that hint.

### 5/5 — Another exquisite mystery!

*2023-02-24*

This game is marvelous. Absorbing, delightful, well-plotted (a true feat when time travel is involved), and very beautiful. Some puzzles are easy and some are challenging, which makes for a nice balance (and so I’m not always rushing off to read the hint guide). What was really nice in this one was how foreshadowing and clues built up over time and became relevant again later. There were moments of real suspense and surprise, but with characteristic humor and moderate nonsense throughout (the pigeon sets the tone in the beginning, and like everything else gets taken to 10 by the end). And the concept is really creative and exciting. I’m off to replay Fleeting Memory, and I’m looking forward to replaying this when I’ve forgotten enough of the details.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review. It really means a lot that you enjoy our work and appreciate the little details we try to include in all our games. We are hard at work on a new one right now, and it's players like you that ultimately make this process so rewarding.

### 4/5 — Love these games, minor navigation issue

*2023-02-03*

THANK YOU for releasing another game! Please keep them coming.

Yes, the puzzles can be challenging but my biggest critique is how you navigate in the game. For instance, I find myself clicking the arrow to go to the next scene, expecting it to be in a linear fashion like most point and clicks. But sometimes clicking to the next scene has you randomly oriented a different direction (looking backward at where you came from rather than looking forward in the direction you were going toward).

So I find myself frequently getting stuck between two scenes— accidentally going back to where I came from, because I thought I was walking/facing forward. It’s helpful that you put a small “reverse arrow” to indicate “turning around”, but it is very confusing to have to think about the arrow. I hope that my comment makes sense!

Please know that this is only a minor complaint. I am obsessed with your games and can’t wait for the next one! I admire your effort to respond to nearly all questions and reviews— you helped me when I was stuck in the past!

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. We're so glad you enjoy our games! We also appreciate the feedback on the navigation. Your comment makes perfect sense. This is actually something we thought about a lot when we designed it. We wanted to add an arrow to turn around, which would differ from the arrow to back away from a closeup. With just the back arrow, it too often felt like we couldn't show what was behind you easily, or in scenes that were many screens deep, you were walking backwards too long to return to your starting point. We do know what you mean about the system sometimes picking an angle, turning you around automatically as it were. This was a choice specific to Yestertide. We even mention it on the help screen. There were some screens where it was important that you saw the turn-around screen first, or else something could be missed. It's sort of like coming into a room and immediately turning toward something peculiar. You don't even think about it, you just do it. On the other hand, it would feel more unnatural if you "walked" right past this peculiar thing and only looked at it when you turned around manually.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2023-02-02*

I had the TIME of my life. I admit, I had to use the hint sometimes but what a great game! You guys are something. Keep the good work and hope to have more games like this one!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the wonderful review! It really makes what we do worth it.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2023-01-30*

Am loving this game and was frustrated to have become stuck. There contact available with the developer who has given quick response which is so good and given lots of support to help you continue with the game. I think this is brilliant to be dedicated so much to there work that they actually care to respond in this way. Get yourself engrossed in this game it’s so good. Great puzzle solving with story line too. You will not be let down. Can’t wait to try the other games too

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review, and glad we could help!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dreadful

*2026-07-27*

The navigation system is awful, hard to believe you could get this so wrong. The puzzles don’t make logical sense or form part of a narrative, things just change at random once you’ve done other things, no rhyme nor reason, just wandering round to see what might be different. I gave up as I found it too annoying, not too hard mind, too annoying. I love a decent and difficult point and click but it has to make sense and this just doesn’t.

### 1/5 — So stupid

*2024-08-03*

This markets itself as an adventure game. It is not. It’s a stupid, illogical “escape game” that cannot be solved like a true adventure game. Total garbage.

### 1/5 — A waste of 5 dollars

*2024-04-01, version 1.05*

Going around in circles.

### 1/5 — Yestertide

*2023-01-06*

Really disappointing. The whole thing is clunky and illogical. Even the online hints are unhelpful. The safe combination given in the hints doesn’t work so I can’t open the safe to continue the game.

**Developer response:** There are several safe puzzles in the game, so we’re not sure which one is giving you trouble. You may be trying to open the safe too early. Some steps and scenes cannot be skipped because they are important later on. If you’d care to post a question on our website’s help page, we’d be happy to help.

### 2/5 — not intuitive or logical and buggy

*2024-11-25*

The game is not intuitive or logical, waste of time really. You need to spend lots of time just pointlessly clicking on things. And who has so much time :) (I am working adult). I finnaly decided to delete the app when the cafe safe code (found at welcome sign) didnt work. I cannot even compare to the Agent A game I recenlty finished, where everything is moving fast and flawless. Gave 2 stars for design.

### 2/5 — Bucs guy

*2022-11-23, version 1.01*

I can’t get past the keypad to the alien ship. Both lights are green and I have the three keys to enter in the order the alien told me and it will not work.

### 3/5 — too difficult

*2024-01-26*

i’m not a stupid person. i shouldn’t have to spend half of my time on their hints pages. there are some puzzles that i very much doubt 95% of the population would get unless by accident. it took all of the enjoyment out of the game. not worth it to finish, it’s irritating.

### 3/5 — Wha??

*2023-11-04*

I love these games. They are thoughtful and engaging. But I cannot get off the initial screen on this one. Too complicated, too fast. It’s so annoying! And I paid for it. 🙄

What am I missing??

**Developer response:** If you'd like to reach out to us on our website, we'd be happy to help. Not really clear the issue you're having. At the start of the game, you go up the stairs into town and arrive at the town square, facing back the way you came. This is so you are sure to see everything on the way to the inn. The inn is your ultimate destination. Turn around (using the curved navigation arrow) and it's on the right.

### 3/5 — Too expensive for what it is.

*2023-01-20*

It’s an ok game, good premise, fun cartoon and everything but compared to some others for the same money it’s overpriced.
It’s very frustrating even though the puzzles are varied and good, the clues are terrible! I consider myself to be a relatively intelligent person (spoiler) but to get a three letter code at one point you have to know to spell a letter? I was looking for other letters eveywhere. I’m English and I don’t think I’ve ever had to spell a letter to know how we usually spell it.. Or the picture clues on the board.. ‘Drawers’ yeah that’s not clear saying things aloud, if you write it down a draw-er (someone who draws) I was seeing ‘charts’ but I’m sure others thought that was obvious ‘allo pen…’ face palm. I don’t think some of the puzzles are gettable. I hate having to ‘cheat’ to progress but in all honesty there are some points where I was glad to get an answer just to get on with it as I would never have got there.
I won’t buy any more from this team, the answer page is just as frustrating to navigate than the puzzles. If you enjoy this one you probably will like the others but I don’t think this is for me!

### 3/5 — WAY too difficult

*2022-11-19*

I’ve enjoyed this developer’s other games, but this one is much too difficult and not enjoyable. The puzzles are way too obscure for my brain….and I play A LOT of point and click adventure games. This really needs to have in-game hints. Going back and forth to the developer website for hints is very cumbersome and ruins the game play. I got to the point where I was stuck, despite the website clues. For some puzzles, the website gives you the exact answers, and for others it only gives vague clues. I play games for fun and relaxation, not to feel frustration. This started out as fun, but quickly became frustrating…so I deleted it. I’m giving 3 stars, instead of 1, only because the graphics are great and I didn’t experience any bugs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing 10/10

*2026-01-31*

To begin, I bought the half price caper bundle so I got 5 games, including Yestertide which I completed last (and am very happy I did!)

Yestertide is by far the best game in the bundle. It is very long, difficult and honestly very fun to play. While I did enjoy the other games, this one just hit different.

I saw a few reviews mention how difficult it is and that the website with hints doesn’t help sometimes. I found this to be inaccurate, as I used the hints A LOT. For all the games, but especially for this one. The hints very much gave you the answers directly. I think what trips people up, is that sometimes the hints and/or answers are spread across several sections (questions?) so you have to read 2 or 3 to figure out what to do.

Personally, I enjoyed there being a dedicated website with hints vs in-game hints or having to watch a video. I also appreciated that you could get a simple hint to point you in the right direction, or you could read the entire solution and get the answer. So props to the developer!

The game is difficult to navigate and can also trip you up. However, I personally found it enjoyable. It also was easier for me, as I played 4 other games with the same type of navigation prior to starting this one. I found this one to be way less confusing than some of the other games (talking about you, Beast of Bodkin Hall lol).

I have only been playing point and click games for a little bit, but have been on a huge roll of playing all available. I would definitely recommend this game, and especially getting the bundle with all of them. Albeit, the other games included in the bundle are not nearly as noteworthy as Yestertide regarding length, difficulty, etc.

**Developer response:** Wow, we can't thank you enough for taking the time to leave such a wonderful, comprehensive review. We're so happy you loved Yestertide. As you pointed out, it's our longest standalone game, not counting our Bested series, which is divided into chapters across multiple games. Yestertide also took us the longest to develop. A lot went into it, and it's nice to know that that's appreciated. It's also good to hear that you like our hint system. We thought about adding in-game hints several times, but we prefer this system. We're happy you do too!

### 5/5 — Great great game

*2025-09-30*

With a minor non-essential bug: fruits must be dragged twice to get blended, as for the first time it won’t trigger anything and just bounce back to the inventory bar. And many puzzles are quite hard for a non-English player. The herb names are various, blended into the all time narrations, quite unnoticeable. And till now I still don’t understand that vault’s 3 letter puzzle, and why opening the no. 22 box, even after reading the full hint related to this part. And the white line on the dog door is quite faint, blended into the surroundings, not as distinguishable as the cat door.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. We can't really answer your questions very easily here, but we'd be more than happy to do so on our website. You can post on the game posts page for Yestertide or send us an email.

### 5/5 — Great Story & Fun!

*2025-06-14, version 1.06*

Loved the humor, art, and clever story line. Such a fun game to play from start to finish!

### 5/5 — A truly great, original and fun game!

*2025-05-05*

Seriously, I never write reviews but I had to let others be aware of how great this game is.
It was totally engaging, funny, scary at times too and all round just excellent.
Just buy it and play it.
You will not be disappointed.
Five stars,
Good length too and I was sorry when it was over.
Great hints too.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We can't tell you how much it means to us that you enjoyed the game and took the time to share your thoughts. We really appreciate it!

### 5/5 — Mind Bendy Fun

*2025-04-21*

I had such a fun time with this game! The puzzles were really challenging and cool. I love the time travel aspect and the art was really beautiful. 5 stars!!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for all your reviews! It really means so much to us. Yestertide was a very ambitious project for us. Really glad you appreciated what we were trying to do.

### 5/5 — great game!!!

*2025-04-03*

i love this game and all of the others by this developer!! i only have one issue. my problem is that i’ve finished half of the games by this developer and i NEED MORE!! at the rate im going i’ll finish them all soon and idk what im going to do when theres no more left for me to play. 😭😂 for this reason, id like to request more games pleeeeeeeeease.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the great review! We're hard at work on a new game, which should be out in a couple months.

### 5/5 — A Game Worth Playing

*2024-02-20*

I didn’t know anything about this developer or what to expect from their game.

Simplistically, the game design is like a “hallway” & you’re opening up “doors” on the right & left side — but, depending on what puzzles you’ve solved, what’s in the “rooms” change. Just because you’ve been there before doesn’t mean there isn’t something in there you need now.
This is one big puzzle adventure game & it actually feels quite long. There are games I’ve played & if it can be beaten in a few hours, you feel ripped off. But not this game. It lasted me a week. & now that I know the quality game my $ buys, I’m happy to explore the rest of their catalog.
The hint guide is really well done. If you’re stuck & just want to be pointed in the right direction, the titles give you a clue w/o spoiling the game.
My only note is there’s a bug in the hot plate puzzle. I never set the dials. I added the ingredients, but never set the temperature & time. The msg wasn’t clear that I’d done it correctly, calling the mixture“slop.” I filled the sprayer expecting when I used it for the game to say “something when wrong, it wasn’t made correctly, etc.” But no. It worked.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review! And thanks for letting us know about the glitch with the hotplate. Fortunately, as you pointed out, the puzzle still works, it just appears you can skip a step. We’ll get that fixed in the next update.

### 5/5 — Why did I just find out they released a new game 😭

*2023-12-05*

Please keep making these games
I love your company’s games truly
I will purchase every game you make 😜😜😜😜

**Developer response:** Thanks so much! We really appreciate that. Our next one is coming out early next year.

### 5/5 — Holy $@&

*2023-11-27*

If you want to spend time with a game, this is it! Between the length, the story, the characters and the challenges it hit every mark for a great game! And it was fun to play! I probably achieved over 80% of the logic, but there was a hint system that went so far as to give the answers. I had played the previous games and look forward to their next! Kudos!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great review! It really means a lot.

### 5/5 — Epic point and click adventure!

*2023-08-18*

Just finished this. There’s a LOT of fun gameplay for the price. I got hooked on the story and had to keep playing until i got to the end.

The art is charming. The writing is funny and fun. The puzzles are creative and challenging and go beyond the usual point-and-click fare in clever inventiveness.

I got stuck sometimes, but they have a terrific hints page that gives you tiny bits of info before the full answer so you can still have the fun of working things out.

Very much looking forward to playing the rest of their games. If you’re a fan of this genre, you should check this out.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful, detailed review. It really means a lot to us.
