I don’t see really anything but a car occasionally passing by. When I’m trying to make sure nobody comes on my property takes anything because the area I live in isn’t that good and there’s nothing I can do about it. It was fine 20 years ago when I moved here. So I need for this camera to pick up what is supposed to be picking up like if it’s easier a human really moving around across the street on the street on the sidewalk pick that up don’t just let me have a blank video of the area my camera is pointed ### 1/5 — Terrible App *2026-08-29, version 6.9.4* Two good features. High quality live view, “Away from Home” alerts. That’s the end of it. It can take up to 30 seconds to launch because of the ridiculous amount of ads they have. Oh! But not just at launch, want to switch view? Ads. Want to go back to menu? Ads. I got confident because I use and love a Yi Dashcam (different app) and the experience has been quite good. This app is so bad, that I am no longer willing to try any other Yi products. ### 1/5 — Horrible App *2026-08-29, version 6.9.4* This is the worst camera app I have ever used. I have used the YI camera and app for years and Im ready to dish it all for new products. You are constantly swatting down ads the entire time you use the app. I used to love these cameras and now they are just horrible and going in the trash. ### 1/5 — The app and service has become unreliable and unusable *2026-08-28, version 6.9.4* I’ve been a consistent subscriber to this service, and the times I’ve needed footage, the cameras, and systems have provided minimal to no help. Theft, cars stolen right in the line of sight, and it’s a pain to extract footage to give to authorities. Now the app has become one giant advertisement even for paid users with useless features that make it even harder to use the services paid for prior. I’ll be deleting the camera profiles, scrapping the cards, and deleting my profile. Their push for innovation and AI with watered-down focus areas has degraded the products usefulness beyond repair. Bait and switch *2026-08-28, version 6.9.4* Bought these cameras and they came with the free app. The app is now basically unusable as they’ve just incessantly added apps that prevent you accessing the functionality of the app without a subscription, avoid if possible ### 1/5 — Impossible to Cancel Subscription *2026-08-27, version 6.9.4* Despite many months of chats with customer service trying to cancel my subscription, I continue to be charged monthly for this service. Each time I chat with them, they offer 2 months of service for free. They then proceed to charge my credit card for those months, and I repeatedly try to cancel the service, and the cycle continues. But they have totally wrecked the app in order to try and sell you a heinously expensive subscription. They are trying to brick the camera via the app! It's totally predatory and unacceptable, and the worst part is that I don't use the cloud - I purchased an SD card and they still want to make it difficult for you to use the camera. So I'll be switching away from Yi and will never buy another Yi product again. Absolutely disgusting. Now you cant even open the camera without ads or pop ups, i get it nothing is free anymore but there are plenty of cameras that have better quality and dont have as many ads and are free to use even the cloud. ### 1/5 — Unusable avoid products all cost *2026-08-26, version 6.9.4* App is unusable and cannot be relied upon with a premium service plan. When the item first came out this wasn’t apart of the platform. Steady they have moved onto another method for generating more revenue not associated with the original product. The pop up adverts usually are stuck and are extremely difficult to take off the screen, the premium plan can remove them but you rather invest in another system that doesn’t require a subscription. I have two other brands and this one and the app are by far the worst. There are so many ads on a camera that I BOUGHT, that’s it’s basically unusable. I’m not paying to remove ads on a device that was already purchased. If there’s ever a real emergency, you wouldn’t be able to see it cause you have to wait through a minute of ads and two minutes of mini games that you have to play in order to get the ad to close. The app was great in the beginning. BUT now after stupid camera updates and app updates all they do is fail. They miss recording objects and people. They have literally become a nightmare. Especially if you hang them up high then customer service is like oh just reset them. Find another brand. I promise you this isn’t it. ### 1/5 — IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL BEWARE *2026-09-01, version 6.9.5* You’re better off going with a competitor for the lackluster quality of app & products alone but Yi Home also makes it impossible to cancel service. We were just billed an entire extra year despite canceling and attempting to remove payment info. Just get Blink ### 1/5 — Terrible App *2026-08-31, version 6.9.5* To be fair it used to be a great app, then they got greedy, it’s to all intents and purposes unusable now because of a never ending cycle of advertisements for junk , I’ve binned the app and the hardware and certainly won’t be buying anything off them again. ### 1/5 — Customer services sucks and turning off auto pay is a headache *2026-08-30, version 6.9.4* My first ever review. This app is Terrible tried to cancel subscription or turn off auto pay. Why is it so hard to turn off autopay? Why do I need to contact customer service for it. Also when you reply to them you have certain amount of time to reply or they would end session you won’t get a notification if they reply back been asking to turn my auto pay/ subscription off for the pass 3 months. ### 1/5 — Great Camera, Ruined by Ads and Forced Subscription *2026-08-30, version 6.9.4* The cameras themselves are actually great, which makes this even more frustrating. Unfortunately, the YI Home app completely ruins the experience. The amount of advertising has become ridiculous. When I get a security notification, I want to open the app and immediately see what is happening. Not deal with ads and constant pop-ups trying to sell me a subscription. This completely defeats the purpose of having a security camera. Even worse, one of the reasons I bought these cameras was the ability to record locally using an SD card. Now it feels like the app intentionally makes using the SD card difficult and constantly pushes you toward paying for their cloud subscription instead. A feature that was one of the main reasons for purchasing the camera should not become practically unusable just because you don’t want another monthly subscription. It’s disappointing because the hardware is good, but the app and aggressive subscription model have ruined the product. I would not recommend buying YI cameras anymore. Even if the camera itself seems like a good deal, you are ultimately dependent on this app to use it and the current experience is frustrating enough that I would choose another brand. ### 1/5 — Scam subscription services *2026-08-30, version 6.9.4* Do not sign up for the subscription services as they continuously charge your credit card even after clearly cancelling it. They then try to offer you a “half refund” while still charging the full amount next month. BEWARE! It’s legit scammy ### 1/5 — Ad pop-ups make the cameras virtually unusable *2026-08-30, version 6.9.4* The cameras are just OK. They’re not the highest resolution. However, the one thing that really prevents me from giving this any higher than one star is that the pop-ups from the app make it impossible to check right away when you get an alert. You have to navigate through several advertisement screens just to get to your live image. And they occur every single time you open the app. The app itself is pure garbage because of that. I have missed deliveries because of it. In addition, the app does not recognize any SD cards, I have been through several new ones to no avail. What’s the entire point of having the camera if I can’t record because the app does not recognize an SD card? I wouldn’t buy a camera if this is the app that you would be stuck with. ### 1/5 — Ads have killed this app. *2026-08-30, version 6.9.4* Ads have killed this app. Will be finding another camera that doesn’t make me sit through ads… very disappointed ### 1/5 — Just advertising *2026-08-29, version 6.9.4* I paid money for 10 cameras and felt money wasted. You get garbage advertising when you get alert from one of the cameras..!! I bought those cheap cameras because they don’t have monthly fees originally. They betray their clients and added the fees. After writing my review above, I got the most stupid answer. They offer me the most expensive discount for monthly fees. I threw those away, but better ones without any monthly fees. ### 1/5 — Garbage cameras, endless ads, canceling not possible! *2026-08-29, version 6.9.4* After you pay hard cash for the cameras, the free app version is flooding you with advertising and pathetic games that you can’t skip, they just keep coming. After going with the subscription for a few month, which lowest tier is limited to 5 cameras, I tried to cancel. That’s where China shows its real colors: they keep replying with offers to stay, although I already removed all cameras and told them that I threw them in the trash. They keep sending offers with a 5 day response time - up the button to submit the simple CANCEL NOW! request doesn’t respond, the chat doesn’t reflect the responses, so they charged again. Canceling a subscription has to be a simple process. Dispute filed.
