There was no option to go back after going to subscribe location. Even if I close the app ( manually removed it from background ) it still comes up on the same screen. (I am an app developer and seems like you guys are using sheety hybrid app approach. Use react native if you guys don't wana write same code twice. It will at-least compile to native ) ### 1/5 — Keeps crashing since update *2018-06-03, version 6.5.2* Was useful for checking drop-in times. After latest update, app will not stay open. I continued to get notifications for all ymca’s. After the latest update, I started getting push notifications with no actual content. It would say “here’s what’s happening today”, and that was it. So I turned them off completely within the app. They randomly turned back on. I turned them off again. They turned back on AGAIN! So I removed push notification access through Apple. I would really like to receive important info such as random poor closures or class cancellations, but this is just unacceptable. Just stick to google as the only useful parts direct you back to the web. Even for gong to the gym I entered my bar code but trying to use it brought up somebody else. Terrible. The membership card entry doesn't do anything, doesn't retain the information. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unfortunately not a useful app *2024-12-26, version 10.2.7* I was hoping to use this app to hold my bar code so I don’t need to remember my key tag, but it hangs when I select that item on the home screen. Then I thought that I could use it to see if my local Y is open on Boxing Day so I tried the hours and contacts item. It says it’s open at 7 am on holidays so I drove over. Turns out it isn’t open, which makes sense but I figure if you’re going to include an entire page of your app for hours it should be up to date. ### 1/5 — Too confusing *2023-01-02, version 6.7.0* The YMCA application is absolutely confusing. There is no simple way to book any classes. I use two YMCA clubs, when I book a class of one of the clubs , it makes me go through many crazy steps just to book it. Also, my schedule and email show me only the day and time. It does not show the name of the club in case I might have forgotten . So, I need to put the name manually. Please make it simpler to book classes and put more information after booking one. ### 1/5 — Can’t use the app *2022-03-26, version 6.7.0* The app is so glitchy that it doesn’t stay on main screen, it keeps popping up their updating app content banner that cover ms the entire screen and tou simply cannot use the app at all. ### 1/5 — Can’t scan QR code *2022-03-25, version 6.7.0* This is the only app I use where the scanners struggle to read the QR code for sign in. Add functionality to add to Apple wallet ### 1/5 — User Unfriendly App *2022-03-19, version 6.7.0* Please update the YMCA app to this century’s standards. Here’s what it needs: 1. Much less clicks to see what you want. 2. One simple booking calendar with filters. 3. User calendar showing all upcoming bookings. 4. Built in notifications for booked activities. 5. Simple cancellation button. 6. Full profile editing capability for members. Nobody should have to go to the service desk to update anything. 7. A members scan barcode on the phone (that works smoothly). 8. Admission and every program should be payable through the app. 9. Pausing or cancelling memberships should be doable with the app. 10. FAQ section ### 1/5 — App doesn’t work *2022-02-16, version 6.7.0* Wont load correctly, just gets caught up on the “app updating page” ### 1/5 — Not user friendly *2020-10-21, version 6.7.0* This app is garbage and needs a total overhaul. It’s not user friendly at all and completely frustrating. Considering how much memberships are at the YMCA you’d think they’d put some of that money into making a decent app. ### 1/5 — Apple Wallet support needed. *2020-01-13, version 6.7.0* I don’t want to open your app to pull up the barcode. Please add wallet integration. Then I can get by with just my watch. ### 1/5 — Numerous Bugs & Poor Layout *2019-04-20, version 6.7.0* The only good function of the app is having access to the schedule of activities and news. Having said that, the notification function doesn’t work properly, it still pushes notifications even if it is turned off and randomly activated the push notification after turning it off. In addition to indicating there are notifications when none are available and all have been read. The member ID scan feature rarely works, which seems due to a poor quality image generated resulting in having to use my card to scan in every time. A nice feature would be to have the ability to add my kids’ access cards to my account again to facilitate check in from a single place. The layout and functionally is dated and could use some major rework.
