### 2/5 — Two Stars for Effort!

Leagues beyond the pitiful app that'd been hanging around for ages, that's for certain. And any progress is good progress. I appreciate being able to link in outside apps like Runkeeper and MFP, but... where are the connections to Apple's baked-in HealthKit? Or working with Apple Watch?

It seems this app is striving to be a sort of base of operations for everything fitness for YMCA members, and that's a lofty goal! But I am concerned about not hooking into a very basic, core-level iOS function like HealthKit. For example: swimming. I swam this morning at my local Y, and it's not represented correctly in the Workout section, and the information it did pull was via MyFitnessPal. Huh? I thought maybe I could manually enter it in, using my stats from the Apple Activity app, but manual entry requires choosing the equipment used in a workout session. "Pool" is not in that option list.

Not everyone uses the equipment at the Y, as nice as it is. Rather, there are lots of people who use the Y as a base to drop stuff at the locker room, run outside (or go swim!), and clean up.

If being a central end-all/be-all source of fitness data is the end game here, there is a lot of growing that is needed to make that happen, and it begins with more options on how workout activity is reported and where that information comes from. Runkeeper is great, and it's what I use! But where is Strava? What if I only use my Apple Watch and its capabilities for all of my workout tracking?

I'm excited for the potential here and hope it comes to fruition in future iterations.

With the Y app, I set goals and find that I like to keep them, checking back regularly to see how I may rank in general, but also when challenges are presented. I also like the notifications feature letting us know what’s happening around the Y.
