It makes the process quick and easy. It’s also super easy to sign up (or cancel) an aqua class. I’m not using half of the features of the app (yet) and look forward to exploring how to get more out of it to help me with my goals as I continue on my journey. So far I’m 7 months in and down some pounds and feeling much better than before I started taking better care of myself. Did the app contribute to this positive change? It’s frustrating that most of the tabs actually take you to the website in a browser and then you have to log in again. It has a great concept for motivation in providing a ranking based on your activity. Unfortunately this actually becomes discouraging as there is an issue of duplication when users connect more then one other fineness app to this one. Hoping to see a genuine comparison of my activity level and unable to to do this as it is apparent that the ranking is skewed by others that have rankings 3 or even 4 times higher then realistic values due to duplicate activities syncing. I was able to replicate this by connecting garmin, Strava, Apple health and myfitnesspal. Results x4. Would love to see this fixed as the concept is great but lacks in execution. ### 5/5 — Very functional app. *2024-04-03, version 6.3* I can’t think of anything I dislike about the YMCA app. Very functional!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unable to login to Virtual Y on iPhone *2024-05-25, version 6.3* I’m unable to login to the virtual Y on my iPhone because the Forgot Password option overlaps with the Password option. As a result, when I attempt to enter my password, the app thinks I’m requesting to reset my password, which I’m not. Tried using both the mobile and desktop versions, no luck with either. Very frustrating! ### 1/5 — Updated App *2023-03-13* The pool schedules have either vanished or been hidden in an impossible to find location. That was my main reason for using this app. Please bring them back! Also, please stop putting so much effort into tracking workouts. I have plenty of other apps where I can track workouts. I specifically need the YMCA app for information *about the YMCA*. What a waste. ### 1/5 — Unable to add Wallet Barcode *2021-03-01, version 4.0* Very frustrated. When you tap to add the barcode to the wallet in Apple Watch an error message says - Barcode not added. Please try again later. Well, later never comes! Very disappointing if you don’t want to bring your phone into the gym. Developer needs to get this fixed! ### 1/5 — What happened?? *2020-01-01, version 3.6* Not sure why they did this...but the previous APP allowed me to enter my workouts along with calories burned MANUALLY. Now I have to accept the calories they determined I burned. Not sure what it basing that figure on. My HRM says I burned 460; the APP said 340. I will use it to track my visits...but cannot rely on for anything else. ### 1/5 — Horrible upgrade! *2020-01-01, version 3.6* While there were issues with this app before, it was very useable for tracking fitness classes. I liked that you could see accumulated hours and calorie expenditure over time in graphs by month or year. The ‘upgrade’ took those features away and have rendered it useless. I have deleted it. ### 1/5 — Poor voiceover accessibility *2018-01-05, version 2.8* I am a blind person and use voiceover on my phone. When voiceover is turned on, the buttons such as challenges, workout etc are all unusable and cannot be activated. The only way to activate the buttons is to disable voiceover making the app inaccessible to people who are blind. ### 1/5 — Challenges don’t work *2017-11-02, version 2.8* They create challenges but don’t have a way to track the challenges. Right now they have a push up challenge but nobody at my Y has a clue how it works. We all spent an hour trying to figure it out. If you’re gonna spend the time to create a challenge and have a leader board... make it work. I gave it one star because I can use it to checkin when I don’t have a member card. ### 2/5 — No Upcoming Classes *2025-02-28, version 6.3* Consistently gives me an error that there are no classes, very frustrating to not be able to see any classes, I have to open and close the app multiple times before it shows me any upcoming classes ### 2/5 — Why is it so hard to book a class?! *2024-10-04* The app makes you jump through so many hoops to reserve a spot in a class. It doesn’t tell you when reservations open up if a class is not yet bookable, so you can’t even schedule a reminder for yourself OUTSIDE the app! To find a class you have to go to the schedule. To book a class, you have to leave the app and go to a seperate website—but there’s no easy link to that site through the app! Then if the class isn’t yet open for booking, you have to guess when it will be and make a reminder in your phone just to go back through the whole process again when they open up to book. Not very convenient if you have a life. ### 2/5 — Please Let Us Track Our Visits! *2023-08-18* Firstly, a lot of us hit a quota of visits per month to have insurance pay a portion of our dues. It seems a rather important feature! Secondly, let us create a calendar whether the class is bookable or not.
