### 2/5 — Keyboard blocks view of payment method fields.

*2026-06-07, version 5.21*

In the “select payment method” (not in the profile) there is a bug where the keyboard blocks the view of some of the fields. Also, there is no Apple Pay or Google Pay option which would be a more secure way of dealing with payment information. I spent 15min trying to get it to work on my phone before I gave up and just used the payment machine.

### 2/5 — Poorly coded - the wrong app for DCR to have chosen

*2026-05-31, version 5.21*

The app is not coded for autofill, requires a credit card rather than allowing ApplePay or other widely used payment methods (and given the poor coding, I don’t trust it to keep the card number secure), does not have a complete list of vehicle types, and requires extra steps for checkout of the cart and activation compared to other parking apps. So you end up spending a lot of time just trying to buy a $10 parking pass while your family is getting antsy to get going in the park. DCR would have done better to use one of the more established vendors with streamlined apps like the parking apps used by MBTA, the City of Boston and the surrounding suburbs, and many other cities and venues.

### 2/5 — Badly coded, no autofill

*2024-08-24, version 5.20*

None of the info or payment fields are properly coded to work with the phone’s auto-fill functions. No Apple Pay either. But it does work once you manually enter everything.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t auto-fill

*2024-07-05, version 5.20*

Had to enter my name, phone, email, and credit card manually with no option to auto fill. No way to use Apple Pay. Such a waste of time for an app I needed to use one time. 👎

### 2/5 — Clunky and Outdated But Works

*2024-07-05, version 5.20*

It works but doesn’t accept ApplePay and otherwise feels like it was built 20 years ago. Why does government always feel so far behind?

### 1/5 — Pain!

*2024-06-15, version 5.20*

What a pain in the neck! First time I use this app trying to pay for parking. Asks for my email I give, then I pick the park I want to pay, I choose an all day parking and start to pay, first it starts with my phone after I enter my number it will not accept it which doesn’t allow you to go any further so I asked the question after explaining what is happening and I get the answer to what I’m already doing. I explain I’ve already done that and the response “I don’t know how to answer that” this app is horrible.

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2024-05-26, version 5.20*

When I try to use this app, I get an error message: We couldn't complete your payment at the moment, please try again later. This app is simply just a frustrating waste of time.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2024-05-04, version 5.20*

DOES NOT WORK at Doheny State Beach. I called the number for assistant… Pre-recorded message sounded like it was from the 90s on an answering machine. how did our state park system adopt this technology?

### 1/5 — One of the worst apps out there

*2024-04-29, version 5.20*

The team that made this app is completely incompetent. It's one of the worst apps I've ever used and this company should be fined for scamming the state of California with this garbage.

### 1/5 — Awful user experience

*2024-04-21, version 5.20*

The UI/UX of this app is terrible. It’s also constantly crashing and you have to start from scratch every time. Took us 20min to get our parking pass, never again.

### 2/5 — Cumbersome

*2024-01-30, version 5.20*

I didn’t have enough change for the iron ranger (Trione-Annadel State Park in the Bay Area) and decided to try the app instead of going somewhere else. I scanned the QR code on the sign, then had to download the app - but it downloaded the Android app and I’m on an iPhone. So I went to the Apple App Store and got the right on, after thrashing around in Google for a while. Then you have to create an account, then log in, then tell it where you are, then register your car (license, make, model, color, etc.). Then you get to pay. There was no option for the senior discount. And they add a 5% “convenience fee” - there’s some irony there. And it won’t take AmEx. Half an hour later I could park legally and go hiking. Oh my.

### 1/5 — Surprisingly bad

*2023-10-01, version 5.15*

Man is this a terrible app. I needed to buy a bundle of firewood at a park, and it kept calling it a “pass”? That doesn’t make any sense. But even worse, I had to enter a credit card number. Why can’t I use Apple Pay?

### 1/5 — No park on map

*2023-09-18, version 5.15*

Park forces me to use this ap to pay but when I search for my park or use my location, there is no start park that matches. What a waste!

### 1/5 — Extremely tedious

*2023-09-10, version 5.15*

I want to pay for parking not have all my information saved forever to this app. Doesn’t think about the end user at all.

### 1/5 — Senior and handicapped

*2023-09-08, version 5.15*

The app charges regular price does not offer senior discount for elderly or handicap discounts
This is discriminatory.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2023-09-03, version 5.15*

Probably made by the ranger’s friend… only explanation why you would use this app!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Pain!

*2026-08-05, version 5.21.4*

Definitely not a user-friendly! Poorly coded! I’d never use it unless I have to.

### 1/5 — Barely functional

*2026-06-28, version 5.21*

Save buttons are offscreen. Text fields have to be filled in blind. Info has to be entered repeatwdly: You ask it for something, it asks for new information, then it resets. It’s just an embarassingly bad app for 2026.

### 1/5 — Frustrating, can’t trust it

*2026-06-27, version 5.21*

As mentioned by others, no AutoFill and no Apple Pay make for a dismal onboarding experience. Payment declined using a saved card due to incorrect security code (I use a rotating code for fraud prevention) has me afraid the app or server is storing the actual CC number + code rather than exchanging for a token. So I’m afraid a data breach could be disastrous.

### 1/5 — Turrrible

*2026-06-05, version 5.21*

Horrible navigation, horrible check out process, no ability to add passes to Apple Wallet. Trash.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t accept Apple Pay

*2026-05-17, version 5.21*

Doesn’t accept Apple Pay. Doesn’t autofill contact details properly. Doesn’t autofill OTP codes. People using the app want to go fast.

### 1/5 — Should give zero starts

*2025-08-25, version 5.20*

I have used this app before. And today. No matter what I did, I cannot see where I’m at. I’m with children and I can’t walk back to the car and the attendant was on a break when I came in. If I end up with a ticket because the app can’t be used to pay I’m going to be extremely angry. I see other reviews complaining of the issue. So it’s not like you’re not aware of it. Fix it before we get a ticket. If you can’t fix it then your app should not have a contract with the state for mass use.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-06-22, version 5.20*

Everyone in Long Beach LI warns you it’s terrible and yet it’s even worse. So many common issues. Mine is that I can’t login to even use the beach pass.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-09-08, version 5.20*

Doesn’t have Apple Pay. What’s the point of an iPhone app if there’s no Apple Pay?

### 1/5 — Dead content

*2024-07-20, version 5.20*

Who thought using an app in areas without service is a good idea?

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2024-07-13, version 5.20*

Paid $15 for a day pass at Doheney State Beach through the app and received a $71 ticket. Had they let us check in at the gate it would have been free for military.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2026-06-23, version 5.21*

I like the app and easy to use

### 5/5 — Yodel pass

*2025-08-28, version 5.20*

Great app

### 5/5 — Yodel Pass

*2025-08-28, version 5.20*

Great App!

### 5/5 — Thankful for the App

*2024-01-01, version 5.15*

I had my ATM, no cash. I found the App trying to find a way to pay for a parking pass. Luckily I was able to find a pass I needed and did not have to drive an hour back just to get gas. Use the App with confidence, just make sure you have Wi-Fi!

### 5/5 — No problems

*2023-07-25, version 5.15*

I feel like a lot of people are buying passes AT the location where they might not get service on their phones. Either buy them before hand while on WiFi or if you have a wifi enabled vehicle, connect to that and boom. You’re in!

### 5/5 — User Friendly and Convenient

*2023-05-28, version 5.15*

I was able to set my account up in 5 minutes. Added contact, car and credit card info. Purchased a one-day vehicle permit for our picnic ($7) and we’re off …. Stores any permits in the app for quick and easy retrieval.

### 5/5 — Such a great concept

*2022-04-06*

I think this app is super innovative. I haven’t had to wait on link when I’ve needed to park even once. Highly recommend using it if it’s available near you.

### 5/5 — 5 stars

*2021-06-17, version 5.0.4*

Great app, very easy to use!

### 3/5 — Error Caused Double Charge

*2022-05-29*

My very first time using the app, I went to pay and got an error message. Then when I attempted to pay again, two passes popped up when I only need one. There is no place to report such errors on the app and thus no way to get my money back. Disappointing.

**Developer response:** Hi Kristen, thanks for your feedback. We have addressed the two passes issue, so it should be all clear right now. If you have any further questions, you can reach out to us via www.yodelpass.com. The Yodel assistant offers help on issues and you can submit a request via the assistant. Thank you for using Yodel!

### 3/5 — Mass State Parks

*2022-05-09*

So here is my review you can’t buy a season pass through the app.. you have to go to the DCR website and redirect to the yodel sight.. once you pay for the pass you then have to link your account to the app.. which honestly should be automatically linked if you buy a pass.. so 3 steps to get a season pass.. I hope the state has extra staff to help people through this process that know what they are doing..

**Developer response:** Hi Rdsxgy. Thank you for your feedback. DCR has launched a season pass on May 14th. You can head over to the Yodel Pass app and buy one now. There are two ways you can get assistance on further issues while using the Yodel App to purchase a Pass for the MA DCR: (1.) You can call 877-661-0496 (2.) You can reach out to us via www.yodelpass.com. The Yodel assistant offers help on issues and you can submit a request via the assistant. Or you can use the Contact Us form at the top right on the Yodel Pass webpage. Thank you for using Yodel!
