It won’t allow me to add music to a playlist. If I go on the website, my songs don’t even show up in my downloads. I feel like I cannot depend on this service to efficiently create playlists for my yoga classes. Very disappointed. ### 2/5 — App is useless *2023-12-20, version 3.0.5* Unfortunately i HAVE to use this app ..its the only music allowed in the yoga studio ..although thete are great selections, i do like to creste my own playlist , PROBLEM ; 1) when songs are downloaded to library , i take songs from download list to create a playlist ,none of them play 2) when ive created a playlist from the TRACKS ,, some songs are skipped over , meaning , that said sing is on my playlist but doesnt play ..and yes that particular song has been downloaded to my library 3) i once accidentally signed myself out of Yogi tunes ,, then signed myself back in … it deleted ALL OF MY playlists .. This app is FRUSTRATING AND INCONSISTENT!! Poorly designed…. PLEASE DO BETTER !!!!! ### 4/5 — The Update helped *2022-12-07, version 3.0.3* I was one of the users that had to delete the app and reload three times. I’m now up and running. ### 2/5 — Not Reliable *2021-09-30, version 2.0* The music selection is great, but I can’t rely on it working correctly. I thought using the offline listening feature would help because of unreliable cell service and I’m not always able to connect to Wi-Fi. But it still has problems. The idea is great, but not useful if it doesn’t work. ### 2/5 — A work in progress *2020-12-17, version 2.0* This creators of this app say it provides an alternative for yoga teachers to play music that does not fall under the PRO music organization umbrella. While that is a good concept for sure, the app is a work in progress. Most of the music is very limited when one compares it to the volume of music accessed through other music apps that are not permissible to use for yoga teachers in organized classes because they are within the “public performance” realm. This app is very glitchy. For example, we have high speed internet and have had the app for months but we can NEVER access playing playlists without persistent delays. Playing music in this way makes the app unusable (there is a workaround noted below). The way around this is to create a playlist and then once edited, make it available for offline use, and play the playlist from Downloaded music. The titles of songs in the playlist and / or their associated artist is often wrong from the playlist one creates. It is often the case that simple searches for artists are also inaccurate. For example, when I search for a song name, it is sometimes not found in the Yogitunes library yet when I search by artist, I can find the album then go through the songs and find the song that was “not found” in the library. The app developers are aware of this and many other issues within the app. I will say that I believe the app developers when they say they plan to enhance the app in time (not done as of 12/2020). It sounds like they are a small grassroots company and have a small team trying to recruit mostly lesser known music artists. I think the concept is good but I wish they either would enhance the app and artist selection significantly or reduce the cost for this app. I say this because it currently feels like they are finding their way through this experience and the users are the guinea pigs for what feels like more of a beta experience. Until a larger entity provides an alternative to the PRO organizations who target small yoga studios as an easy way to rack up “membership” fees, this is probably the best alternative ... for now. ### 1/5 — Imposible to get started *2019-05-30, version 1.0.2* Really poor new customer onboarding. Couldn’t log in, tried several times and it wouldn’t work but was quickly told that I was going to be changed after 30-day trial without even getting into the app. It’s 2019 figure out your onboarding. Cancelled right away. ### 1/5 — Not worth it *2018-04-17, version 0.10.5* The app support team never gets back to you with any questions you might have which is annoying. Plus if you want to cancel the subscription you will have a really hard time. I am still trying to cancel mine so I’m basically paying for an app I do not want. Only one star because of that and I have found better music tailored for my classes when i was on other apps. ### 1/5 — Unreliable *2018-01-07, version 0.10.5* Solid music selection but the app is horrific. On a good day, there is a 30-45 second delay from the time I press play to the time the music starts (on WiFi). However, the past few times I've tried to use it, it's just outright crashed. I can't rely on this to teach my yoga classes. I can't rely on it to even stream music for my own enjoyment. Glad I'm still in my free trial. ### 3/5 — Great music, app not so much *2017-12-27, version 0.10.5* Okay, 5+ stars for the music selection. I’ve been doing something of a angry music detox this past year and when I was trying this app out, a number of the tracks went on to a private playlist for my every day use, The music selection is frankly just that good and varied enough that I have no problems listening to it outside of the yoga studio. So, it really kills me to have to give this only three stars and I sincerely hope this gets addressed as this is a great app, that a few minor tweaks in my opinion, would make it a essential in any yoga teachers toolbox. The single largest issue the app has his stability. The first few times that I used it for a class, I had to reset the app multiple times. Initially I thought it was a memory issue and close out all but the app on my phone, but the problem persisted, I ultimately had to fall back on Pandora for music. Another issue is that the user interface does have a bit of a learning curve. First couple times I played around with it, I assumed that I had done everything right, only to find that about two hours worth of music selection never was properly saved and had to rely on a premade list. As I said, the music selection simply is the best for Yoga (many types and can even be tailored according to the season) as well as for every day use, the stability issues and interface however just hurt this app. If these two issues are addressed I will definitely download and use it again. ### 2/5 — Great music, frustrating app *2017-12-20, version 0.10.5* The system is relatively intuitive. My main gripe is the glitchy offline part of the app. While the offline option is great, it rarely works well. If you’re hooked to wi-fi it says your tracks are there, then when you show up at a studio, no access to wi-fi, suddenly tracks are missing, it reverts to an old saved version (that no longer exists), or no matter which offline selection you choose, it only opens the same one, until you reboot the app. Frustrating to say the least. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not worth the $$$ *2024-10-23, version 3.0.5* This app is extremely frustrating. Doesn’t add songs to playlists and the the playlists disappear suddenly?! Only able to download and use those songs which is really not helpful as during teaching a yoga class I have NO time to play DJ :( I most likely won’t keep this after my free trial ### 1/5 — Yogitunes *2023-08-15* Not happy with this app AT ALL ..unfortunately i HAVE to use it in the studio i teach in .. When I open the app, it says I must subscribe. There is no option to tell it that I am already paying YogiTunes monthly, just not through the AppStore, because I subscribed through the website before downloading the app. It seems that the app is only for new users, which is pretty crappy. At least I can still use the service I pay for with my mobile browser. This review is about the app, which is completely useless for current paid users. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2023-01-11, version 3.0.3* I really like the music in the app but it’s impossible to create a personal playlist. You can download, save it to your playlist but when you check it, the playlist is empty. Tried on more than one device and it never works. Pity. Super easy to use and I love that it’s an ethical company with fair pay to the artists unfortunately they have ruined the app for all existing YogiTunes subscribers. The new update does not allow me to use the app without purchasing a new subscription. I’ll be canceling my current subscription and finding a new music app for my classes. It’s a bummer because this was so good for 2 years. Whether you want to curate a soundtrack to go with a yoga flow of any style, a Breathwork, workout or dance playlist - this app has a lot of great choices for that as well as premade playlists. I love the fair trade aspect as well, that the musicians get paid fairly for their music streams. Also shout out to customer support - they were so friendly and helpful when I needed assistance with the app. Genuine, kind humans working behind the scenes. Having ambient music to “hold space” is a must during my yoga classes. I share deep practices like nada yoga and yoga nidra to help shift nervous system states. Navigating the complex world of trauma is hard. Having music that I feel connected with helps me to regulate so that all of my patients can co-regulate with me. When there are problems, the sweet and supportive staff at yogi tunes are just an email away. I get artists need to be paid but as a small business, like mine, it is hard to pay multiple organizations like those. When the app upgrade happened, yes there were some hiccups, yet an email out to their team solved the problem and got me back on track. Small ethical companies do not function like big ones. There are people who care on the other end. When we communicate our needs, Phoenix or another awesome YogiTunie is there to assist. I’m so grateful for the music, community feel, awesome mixes and knowing the artists are fairly compensated. I’ll continue to use YogiTunes for my studio needs!
