There are many different ways to access and enjoy walks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and this app includes 35 of our favourites, developed with our National Park Rangers. There are walks of differing lengths, created to suit all abilities and taking in stunning woodlands, peaceful riversides, the Dales’ iconic hills, limestone scenery and dramatic waterfalls. These GPS-enabled walks are located right across the National Park and include a number of accessible ‘Miles without Stiles’ routes. We’ve also included a handy key with each to help you decide which to do next, plus links to important information to help you plan your visit, and guidance on staying safe in the countryside. I looked at two example walks and they seemed to be straight lines rather than circular. Positive side: it’s a very clean-looking and easy to use app. The symbols that are there are good - e.g., you can see if it goes past a pub. ### 5/5 — Amazing! *2025-05-04, version 1.6* So grateful for the app! The walks provided are excellent, we adapted the Hawes ones. The overlay of your position helps greatly to find the turns and paths to take. Once discovered this accessibility information wasn’t to be trusted, e.g. Smardale Gill was listed as limited accessibility when in fact this is one of the most accessible walks in the dales along an old railway line that is smooth and gently graded. App needs improvement to be useful and trusted. ### 5/5 — Easy to use and helpful *2022-06-13, version 1.3* Used this to plan alternative walks than we’d initially intended to do as when we got to the dales we were struck down by a bug & had to ‘downsize’. Maps were great because alternative paths the the suggested routes were able to be viewed & this enabled a shortcut to be taken on one walk where the intention outstretched the energy available!
