You must look at the official Catholic Papal decree and it uses the word suppress and subdue which simply means to keep out of public eye or to let no longer grow or practice. However, in the late 13th century the Templars were disbanded and killed for blasphemy and heresy. During the initiation ceremony, Templars would spit on the cross while celebrating. The templars were also accused of praising idols. Later on before their disbandment, they were also accused of having intercourse with animals.
