### 4/5 — Love the UX - several ideas for improvement

*2025-09-12, version 1.8.0*

Really like the design and experience. I appreciate that there aren’t calories, no looking up items and encouraging toxic diet culture… but I am frustrated by some SMALL tweaks that could be easily changed. I would love the ability to:

- add multiple portions of a food group —> so I can see, oh I’ve had 3 carb portions already today

- create more categories of food groups: would love drinks, sweets..

- view the entire meal title when looking at the day (right now it cuts off.. so if you have more than a few words you can’t see it at a glance.. ie., oatmeal, peanut butter and an apple)

- I can’t seem to find the view where I can see a week of food or food groups or how I felt after meals at a glance, although I see it described in the update.

### 4/5 — Only one complaint

*2023-12-22, version 1.8.0*

I love this app the only thing I wish you guys could change is to make it so we can add the ingredients to the things we list, for example where it says fruits, dairy, etc I wish it would also have the option for other notes on the food, that’s it thank you for taking the time to read this

### 4/5 — Good but…

*2023-12-20, version 1.8.0*

Love how simple this app is but I wish there were more options for types of food, for example, “dessert” or “grains”. When I have cacao powder I feel weird classifying that as a carb but don’t know how else to categorize it. It would also be nice to track if I took my vitamins for the day. There should be a “title” for the meal I ate and then a description below so that I can describe the ingredients. That would be really helpful!

### 4/5 — Wish i could export data

*2023-04-07, version 1.8.0*

Love the app UX/UI but I really want to be able to share this data with my nutritionist and I really can’t and don’t know how to export the data or even see what I ate in a week if there is an option to do this I would love to know but that’s the only thinking making me search for another app

### 4/5 — Solid Start

*2022-12-20, version 1.8.0*

Enjoy the simplicity and method of adding meals. Especially like the idea of focusing on eating food group. Would love to see more insight — specifically how much of each good group I’ve had in the past 7 and 30 days. (Can only see the most and least consumed currently.)

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2022-04-17, version 1.7.0*

Helps me track my meals in a simple way.

### 5/5 — Love it! But suggestion!

*2022-03-02, version 1.7.0*

I love this app! I use it everyday! Once suggestion though is to maybe add drinks for an option!

### 5/5 — Great addition to my fitness journey

*2022-02-04, version 1.7.0*

I recently started working out and have been looking for a way to track what I eat in addition to my exercising. I found this app at the perfect time. Super easy and user-friendly! It’s nice to have an app with a premium subscription that you can try for free before committing. Awesome app!

### 5/5 — Good App

*2021-11-05, version 1.6.0*

I really enjoy the app, but would like to see the option of adding food on a past day if I forgot to add it that day.

### 5/5 — Very useful

*2021-04-11, version 1.6.0*

Use it everyday, can’t live without it!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t see past meals

*2026-05-09, version 1.8.0*

Have been logging my meals for over a month on this, can only see the past week!! What a waste of my time. There’s zero mention that it wasn’t going to let me see what I’ve input after a week and zero no way of getting any help.

### 1/5 — Flawed

*2022-09-10*

Would be nice if someone could log into the app. The confirmation code gets sent. You enter it but you can’t click confirm because the keyboard is covering it and theres no way to do so

**Developer response:** Hello Bwuise Wree

We apologize you are running into this. I promise you we will do our best to fix this for you if you want to reach out to us at yourbalancedfood@gmail.com we’re more than happy to trouble shoot this with you if you can send some basic info like what device you are using and a screenshot or screen recording of this happening.

Some other potential troubleshooting tips:

- Are you able to press return on your keyboard to hide it?
- Can you scroll down while the keyboard is still open to see if you can show the button to sign in?

### 1/5 — Can’t post food

*2022-07-17, version 1.8.0*

Can’t post food. I can add all the details, but there’s no button to “post” the meal… makes no sense.

### 2/5 — It won’t work for me

*2025-01-04, version 1.8.0*

I can’t afford a subscription service right now, I was hoping this would be a one time payment app. I hate all these new subscription stuff. The worst part is, the free version would be great if I could see my past journals for more than a week. Glad I checked what the differences were after only logging for a day, or else in a week I would have been in for a surprise losing all my progress. I need to keep a log for my doctor, but it looks like that log will have to be in a notes app.

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2026-01-05, version 1.8.0*

Pictures should be bigger and titles able to be longer. Otherwise good app

### 3/5 — Please fix bug ASAP - iPhone app

*2024-10-01, version 1.8.0*

You cannot add a food until you type in the name of the food. But when you do, the onscreen keyboard covers the bottom half of the screen and it does not allow scrolling so you can’t actually add the food item.

### 3/5 — Good idea

*2024-06-25, version 1.8.0*

It’s a good app. I love that I can take pictures and sort the food groups etc I’m not keeping it simply because I can’t share my journal. I am journaling as part of a program and I need to share it with my coach. If you put a “share” option I’ll download it again and subscribe.

### 3/5 — Great app, but one catch…

*2024-05-12, version 1.8.0*

I love the simplicity of it. It’s been helping me eat more regularly, consistently, and balanced through a difficult schedule and lots of anxiety. If it were a one time purchase I’d have bought it very quickly. I don’t like subscription models. So I haven’t. But then I found that you can’t even view your historical entries without a subscription. So that made it in that you pretty much have go buy the paid version. Which IMO is kind of a sleazy way to sell it to you. Sigh. I’m probably going to do it because it’s the best I’ve found for simplicity but yeah would expect more from a paid version.

The only actual change I would make is the ability to track numbers of the food groups. Eg, checking “carb” is helpful from the sense of evaluating, but as I get going I’m going to need to think okay, this was 2 servings of carbs and I’ve only had one serving of protein. I think you could get around that by entering every unit in separately…I will try. For example, if I put in spaghetti and check carb, that doesn’t give me an idea of how much carb.

### 3/5 — Requires login account & your data is stored in cloud

*2023-12-28, version 1.8.0*

Note: this is NOT an app functionality review Rather, it’s only about critical data handling / privacy. (I had to choose a star rating but that’s irrelevant so I chose a middle 3 stars.)

Read the privacy policy and it says all user data is stored in a cloud database. You can’t use this app with data stored locally only.

Policy says this is for web and app utility. Seems if you don’t want web data access, you can’t choose for local phone app only data handling.

In line with that requirement, a login account with name and email is required.

So, if you want a simple food logging app where your data stays local and login credentials aren’t required, this is not the one.

### 3/5 — Suggestions

*2022-11-30, version 1.8.0*

I had a problem with the signup page. It was buggy, but after a while I came back and it fixed itself? Not sure what happened, but I got to use the app now.

I have a few suggestions already:

- Add fiber to the food groups.

- Add dessert to the meal types.

- Add a quantification feature for each food group when you log a meal. So that you can visualize if your meal is mostly carbs, or protein, or veggies, etc. Maybe a slide-able pie chart using the selected food groups. Doesn’t have to be exact, just a visualization.

- Customize daily water intake goal. (Change the default 64oz.)

- Set drink water reminder notifications aside from meal notifications.

- Customize the times of the meal reminders.

-Consider offering a lifetime deal.

This app has great potential! Please keep working on it! So many people are in need of a quick and easy way to log their food without it being mentally draining or harmful. I can see this being a safe place to keep track of things. In a way, having limited features is kinda freeing. Saves you from fiddling too much with it because you can’t. I ramble, lol. Looking forward to future updates!

### 5/5 — Calories

*2025-07-30, version 1.8.0*

I love that there are no calorie trackers in this, its a great way to keep track without fixating on numbers!

### 5/5 — So perfect for ED recovery and nutrition without diet culture- health focused!

*2025-03-31, version 1.8.0*

I am so so happy I found this app. I am recovered from disordered eating but also want to eat healthier, generally get an idea of how I am eating, and make sure I am eating enough since I’m a D1 athlete. This app is super helpful as I work on my nutrition and work with my nutritionist. This app is so so perfect for that, I love how straight forward and not overwhelming it is. it has a lot of the features I want- and avoids exactly what I need to avoid (like calorie tracking, exercise goals, or rating foods as healthy or unhealthy)

### 5/5 — Great App.

*2025-01-01, version 1.8.0*

Very easy to track my meals, was great as I wanted to go on a diet and this app made it easier for me. I could track my water intake and calorie intake. Loved it!

### 5/5 — Hi

*2024-09-04, version 1.8.0*

I’m writing a review because I want people to know how good this app is not many people reviewed this but it is so so good. I don’t think I would ever want to change this app. It is absolutely perfect as a younger person. I do not have the money, to pay for this app so I use it completes without any purchases and I don’t think I would like to because even without it it is so so good it’s so good for tracking so good for making sure you drink enough water I love this app and as someone who is has coeliac disease it is never been easier to track my diet which can be hard when I have dietary needs. I’m also low in iron and this is so good for my dietician to track. I would 100% recommend us to anyone. I hope you can get this up.

### 5/5 — AMAZING APP!

*2024-07-13, version 1.8.0*

I think this is a really great idea and you have executed it perfectly! Well done! One suggestion thought can you make it so we can change it from oz to ml? Love this app, use it daily

### 5/5 — Simple Tracking App

*2024-02-19, version 1.8.0*

I love the simplicity of the app. There is nothing overwhelming that would cause you to spend more time than needed in the App. This is important because if you’ve struggled with your relationship with food, there are not too many things that could steer you to a dark place. Simply take a picture and assess the food groups you’ve eaten. While I wish there was one for dessert, I use the “other” category in its place. Premium is affordable and I hope with updates it doesn’t become overwhelming like some of the others. The journal is very basic to write your thoughts for the day.

### 5/5 — Great App.

*2023-05-06*

Very easy track my meals, was great as I wanted to go on a diet and this app made it easier for me. I could track my water intake and calorie intake. Loved it!

### 5/5 — Love the Food Group Feature!

*2022-08-20, version 1.8.0*

I just downloaded this and love the format so far! Just one thing that I wish it had is I wish you could mark if something has multiple servings of a food group. For example, my morning smoothie has both milk and yogurt, so it would me nice to mark that I’ve had 2 servings of dairy.
Overall though, love the app!!!

### 5/5 — Simple & Easy to Use!

*2022-08-03, version 1.8.0*

My review after using it for one week. I like the water tracker in oz. I love the journal option and questions. I wouldn't mind a chance to customize the times of the notifications, so the app reminds me to add any info to the journal. Overall, I like the app. It's a simple app to help me with my weight loss journey. And will help me focus on balance, making balanced choices, and not focusing on calories.

### 5/5 — Best review!

*2022-05-13, version 1.8.0*

Since I downloaded this application I’m in love with it and I can’t go a day without using it. It’s part of my life and it has made my life soooo easy. I’ve refers the app to 10+ friends and family and it’s definitely a life changer. I would only like to make one recommendation is the ability to make changes to the water tracking unit to cups.
