Definitely needs that feature added. ### 2/5 — Clean, well‑built app, but two stars for the insane price. *2026-02-11* Using transcripts with a summary app works well and makes the process simple. It does a really good job of organizing transcripts from the source videos, with tags, but even if you need tags, it still isn’t worth it. Paying $60 just to organize and tag videos and pull transcripts seems unnecessary when you can do the same thing with Gemini. YouTube on a desktop, grab the transcript, Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V it into an AI, tidy it up, and congrats, you didn’t have to pay $60 for an app whose main feature is basically repackaged Gemini, note app with tagging. On an iPhone, copy the URL into Gemini and that’s literally it. It worked for the first video that I entered. But from that point on, I would enter the URL address for the video I was interested in, and the app would draw blanks “no results found“. No tutorial, no helpline, no support other than to tinker your subscription or credit card if desired ### 4/5 — very useful *2025-08-09, version 2.6.2* very user friendly to view real time captions ,better if with setting to set “caption “ as default view when I start watching video ( because seldom use “text” view). I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because it works like web based so all history data need some time to download whenever I open the app ### 3/5 — Wouldn’t transcribe 4 hour long video *2025-08-04* Paid good money for this app and it would not transcribe a 4 hour long Terrance McKenna lecture. First I’ve seen it not want to work. So i give it three stars. Should give it 1. It shouldn’t deny me service **Developer response:** Sorry about that. YouSumm needs the video to have subtitles in order to transcribe it. Most YouTube videos do, but if it’s an old video, there’s a higher chance it doesn’t include captions. The developer is constantly updating this app. Exemplary commitment. Dev are sure… You are not an Ai 🤖? I’ve done hundreds of transcription’s. This is definitely a premium app now. I LOVE that through out your update ms you added some powerful features that really adds dimensions to the apps overall functionality.. just impressive: 1. Change language output 2. Added tags (for quick organization) 3. A tab for summaries of transcriptions 4. The transcriptions tab has different formats now (if you want *the wall of text* - there you go. If you’re like like and want it *in paragraphs* - there you go. I gotta say just.. wow, night and day difference - literally. I had a bug list for you that I was slowly adding onto.. and you already took care majority of the items on my list.. bravo 👏 🙌 only one bug (if it’s a bug) that is constant for me…. DELETE BUG? Deleting a video, while inside its transcription page.. requires us having to tap delete, then back out to into the main gallery, then going back in to the video transcription screen, and hit delete again. While on topic of delete… for UX simplicity.. Would be better to “swipe & drag” The video and then it deletes. Exactly how we do with iCloud files. This reduces steps.. 1. Having to go into the video transcription page 2. tap delete red trash can icon 3. tap delete again in pop up UI With Swipe and drag: 1. Swipe video (to left or right —> you decide which side dev) and it’s all deleted. Thank you again for the amazing work you’ve done here. I’ve gotten much smarter BECAUSE OF YOU! ——————— NEW REVIEW ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The developer *literary* updated all the issues I brought up below in my OLD REVIEW (see the ❌) The developer resolved all the issues in just two days of me writing my old review & emailing a copy to them. I’m still shocked, this usually never happens. Wow! 😮 Very courteous, and proactive. Now that I understand there is support here, I care more about the product. Do keep in mind, this is a small indie studio, so for future customers of this amazing product.. stay within reason regarding updates & features. Now.. why is this app 5 stars now, because it’s super amazing now: ✅ READING: The app now automatically formats your transcripts into nice chunks of paragraphs.. Gone is the old, eye gouging, retina burning wall of text. ✅ LINKS SHORTCUT: You can now share YouTube links directly from the YouTube share button into the app. Which means.. Instead of copying the link like you normally would and then open this app (YouTube Transcriptor) then hit the plus button (+) to paste the link. Well.. No need for all of that. Now you just… 1. Tap share button on YouTube 2. scroll through your list of apps, choose YouTube Transcriptor 3. That’s it! ✅ DARK MODE: We now have a system dark mode, no more eye destruction at night. Comfortably transcribe at night, or read in the app. ✅ PDFS’s We can export as PDF’s so you can now study in another app by exporting the pdf to say Marginnotes, Notability, Liquid Text, Apple Notes.. etc. or you can just export into your Kindle or iBooks. Another bonus of the pdfs, it has an option for you to attach link of the YouTube video and time of spoken dialogue (again entirely your choice) This app is a must get now. $25 a year, that’s about $2 month (WELL WORTH IT FOR ME) Now I can read and study all of my favorite YouTube content like consciousness, game design, philosophy and soo much more. I say it this way because sadly.. I am already experiencing scarcity in the quality of life area. Basic features that should be here, especially for a subscription model.. are missing, and I must admit, I may end up leaving if these are not resolved. Again, these are all very basic features that should had been in here but for whatever reason are not. Here you go: ❌ 1. DARK MODE: Allow us to choose dark or bright and ALSO.. add (mimic systems settings) my iPhone automatically goes to white background during the day and automatically dark background at night. You are destroying our eyes when we read from your app at night. ❌ 2. GIANT WALL OF TEXT IS AWFUL With respectful tone in my voice as I say this.. the transcription area is horrendous. One giant.. massive monolith of text. Please.. break it up. Add some paragraphs in there. It’s very bad. There are free source small language model api’s out there (see hugging face) that’s already trained to do this, go get that and add it in here. The subtitles area is wonderful! You did excellent there. ❌ 3. SHARE AS PDF: No ability to share as pdf. The most widely used source of reading medium. we need to be able to share these as a pdf.
