### 3/5 — Great app - recently buggy

*2025-01-30*

App has been fantastic up until the last few months. The app has a bug where it’s not saving insulin values and often errors out when communicating with the server. I often either have to manually add the calculated insulin because it saves the BGL and carb values, but not the insulin, or I have to run through the calculator an extra time or two so that it saves the insulin values. I can see that others have reported similar issues so it may be something the devs need to look into.

### 3/5 — Needs updates

*2024-10-27*

This app used to be good, but it’s been glitchy for a while. The app takes a long time to load, so I usually have to close it and reopen it. Often when I enter data it only adds the BGL and carbs to the logbook but not the insulin dose. This is dangerous if I don’t notice that it’s done it, so the next calculation doesn’t allow for insulin on board.
When I contacted support, they said to delete the app and reinstall it. That worked at first but I still have the same problems. Please fix it ASAP!

### 3/5 — Great when it works

*2024-10-02*

When this app is working it is such a game changer. After deleting & reinstalling it I couldn’t get through a whole week without problems. I had to calibrate several times as my levels were out by over 10!! Sounding the alarm either when it thought I was low or high. Often had to wait 30 minutes for the transmitter to find signal. Deleted it so I could sleep as it kept saying transmitter list signal fir over 3 hours.

### 3/5 — Often OK… sometimes not.

*2024-04-04*

1. The app has problems getting “stuck” on a glucose reading or insulin on board. Led to a really good hypo once, when I believed the app!
2. Needs to have a way to revise data that you’ve input, eg pressing wrong insulin amount, or deciding differently after you’ve typed in the number.
3. Would be nice to offer a table of past glucose readings.

### 3/5 — Good app but needs refinement

*2024-01-22*

I love the flexibility this app gives you but please look at the following refinements:
-Dark/ Night mode.
-Auto Cloud Sync after a new entry ( I have to manually sync and resync. to get the cloud updates after new entries).
-Watch ⌚️ app seems to fail to update and have to be reloaded and relaunched a couple of times to get the trend and current BGL values to update.

### 3/5 — Connectivity issues

*2023-07-05*

I am new to the Ypso pump and have been having connectivity issues leading me to manually deliver bolus. I have just updated my IOS to 16.5.1 but it is still not connecting. Losing this capability is making the pump less effective than it could be. I am praying they sort this issue out soon as it was quite stressful, and stress in turn increases blood sugar levels making the whole experience counterproductive. Lovely little pump though

### 3/5 — Buggy syncs

*2023-04-24*

Keeps constantly making us relog back in, syncing is sometimes difficult.
Would be nice if there was a WiFi option where it would be sent to all phones it’s connected too like a dexcom, rather than the main user phone and then having to sync from there.
Also buggy on the reports, not all lows seem to be recorded so I have to enter them in manually which is of course an issue when sending this to the endo!

### 3/5 — If only the app was stable!

*2022-12-11*

I’ve been using the app since acquiring the YpsoPump some almost 5 years now! So they’ve had plenty of time to develop the app and debug it! Its certainly been developed with additional functionality, however the app is still full of bugs and feels as it gets less reliable with every “development”. Especially right now with mis-dosing as it hasn’t connected correctly to the pump and it doesn’t highlight it, when other times it alerts over and over again it hasn’t connected to the pump when it’s actually connected! Must do better quickly for its customers.

### 2/5 — Worryingly bad

*2022-10-05*

I have been using this app to bolus my insulin directly to my ypsopump.

This was a promise made by the company which I waited out on before being committed for 4 years to this pump.

The app crashes constantly. The Bluetooth connection is very poor and sometimes you don’t know if the bolus has actually delivered so you need to check it over and over.

You can’t have the app running in the background as it will alert your pump as soon as you’re more than a few metres away, but if you don’t leave it on it will say you’ve currently got a bolus running, even when you don’t.

I’m actually really disappointed and upset that this is so poor. More upsetting is how dangerous it is that you have no idea if you're bolusing multiple times. I’ve had several hypos because of this, and also highs when I think I’ve had a bolus and I haven’t.

I will be making a complaint to ypsopump. This app is so easy to use and would be brilliant if it wasn’t so hideously buggy and dangerous.

### 2/5 — Very Disappointing

*2022-10-01*

I use this App with an YpsoMed pump, and it regularly loses Bluetooth connection with my pump. About 4 times a day - sometimes more - I have to go into Settings on my iPhone 13 and reconnect the Bluetooth connection, then close the App and then wait for a minute or two before it “finds” my data from the Pump and/or the cloud.
The Ypsomed Med Technical Staff have spent a lot of time with me and are very helpful, but cannot solve the problems I am having. I think this is just about the worst App I have ever encountered.
When connected, it does the sums well to work out how much insulin I need, but I often think I could do this more quickly with a $10 K-mart calculator.
Very unhappy.

### 3/5 — Continual delays on promised features

*2022-04-19*

The good:
Intuitive app makes it easy to enter blood glucose and carb values on your phone, minimising time spent tapping away on your Ypso pump

Easily see your insulin on board from the app for quick, moment in time decisions.

The bad:
Ypsomed continually advise of upcoming features to app and companion pump that seem to never be delivered on such as:

-Dexcom CGM integration for iphone
-Ypso pump dose feature.

If you consider the ypso-pump because of the system’s potential. Consider your options… this is an incredibly expensive device to purchase on the basis of what it might do at some point in the future.

These delays are undoubtedly related to the required software approval and medical treatment bureaucracy.

However without the bells and whistles for a year now… I for one wish I had not chosen the ypsopump as it’s pretty basic and limited in functionality without these enhancements.

### 3/5 — Great concept but needs work

*2022-04-19*

Love the concept behind this app of calculating insulin required and factoring in active insulin/carbs and different ratios at different times. I am using with pen injections. There are a few frustrating things though, app frequently crashes when adding a logbook entry especially if going back to a previous time/day. Also needs a function to edit an entry if you make a typo/error instead of deleting and redoing. The report function is fantastic and easy though, I haven’t found another app that has all of the features that this has!

### 2/5 — Cloud Unusable, Wring Credentials and Bluetooth Pop Ups

*2022-01-01*

First time ever reviewing but it had to be said. It kept telling me my credentials were wrong to link up to cloud (which I needed to use program). Even tried resetting the password twice and removing and reinstalling the app. Secondly, it ALWAYS pops up with the turn on Bluetooth settings every time I open the program and there is no way to seemingly shut off the pop up. The app was completely unusable to me for those two reasons. Glad I wasn’t forced to use it by having their pump or accessories

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No longer fit for purpose

*2026-03-19*

My Ypsomed pump is still under warranty until May, but the My Life app no longer works. To be fair it has never actually worked properly - issues with the Bluetooth, failure to link to the cloud, constant pop up prompts etc etc etc - but I have limped along with it for years. But I recently had to replace my phone, and after over 2 hours on the phone to the pump hotline I was told the problem was a compatibility issue, and that the app had not been updated to work with anything later than iOS 18. What? That came out 18 months ago. I’m disgusted. Currently waiting to get set up with hybrid closed loop on the CAM app. It had better be an improvement. Between the rubbish performance of the Libre sensors (also not kept up to date with newer phone operating systems apparently) I’ve just about had enough. These companies are producing expensive products designed to work with phones, but not ensuring that they keep up compatibility-wise. Not good enough.

### 1/5 — New update stuck on loading screen

*2024-10-29*

Ever since the new update there are times when I open the app and I am unable to get past the loading screen. This is extremely frustrating as I have to either restart my phone or close and open the app repeatedly until it works and is extremely inconvenient when calculating dosages before a meal. The app is essentially non-functional as this occurs so often. Please fix this.

### 1/5 — What a faff

*2024-06-21*

Oh my god! If this is the future then beam me up Scotty. If you can actually get the app connected it is possible to calculate a bolus .......eventually going from app to glucose metre to pump to app , is this really progress! Come back Animas all is forgive. Connectivity! Connectivity! Connectivity! If only this was possible for a modicum of time, every time you leave the app it’s a nightmare to reconnect. Thankfully I don’t have this problem with other apps I use otherwise I think I would have been out with the shotgun or razor blades a long time ago as the problem has ……….persisted!!!

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2024-04-04*

I was very excited at the prospect of this app linking up with my Dexcom G6 to eliminate a lot of manual entry but unfortunately I would say it successfully links up with my Dexcom less than 10% of the time. I still have to manually enter my Blood Glucose level to be able to calculate how many units of insulin to take. Also has a lot of alarms about not linking to the Dexcom, many of which I don’t seem to be able to turn off, which is a bit of salt in the wounds 😬

### 1/5 — Stressful,frustrating and totally unhelpful app

*2024-03-12*

As many others have highlighted in their reviews I experience constant issues with the Bluetooth connection between my phone and the app. This means that whenever I want to give a bolus it shows that it’s not connected so I have to turn my phone off then on before I can give a bolus. If you’re distracted during this process it’s very easy to forget that you haven’t actually given the bolus and end up high. It’s a complete PIA! I have changed my phone x 3 same issue, also reported several times.
I would not recommend. Ypsomed when are you going to sort out this problem? Diabetes tech is supposed to lighten the 24hr burden of managing diabetes not make it more stressful!

### 1/5 — Surprised this is has been approved for use

*2023-02-09*

Overall, I’m extremely disappointed and can’t quite understand why medical professionals have recommended this pump/ app.

My main issue is that I cannot depend on this app. There is obviously something wrong with the connection or Bluetooth.

There have been a number of times (that I’m aware of) where the bolus has NOT been sent to the pump. I have sent video screen shots of this to Ypso with no response. I don’t feel that Ypso care, there is no urgency yet it’s affecting my sugar levels, and my health. I shouldn’t be left wondering whether to inject with a pen or not. Have or have I not had the bolus… I don’t feel that I should be put in this position.

Don’t trust the app - check, check and check again!

I absolutely love the bolus calculator, it’s really easy to use. I think it’s great.

Having been on a Medtronic pump for 10+ years, you really don’t know what you have till it’s gone! I’m really hoping to come off this pump/ app for a number of reasons including this dysfunctional app.

### 1/5 — Frustrating for small child

*2022-09-04*

Our little girl has had T1D for just over a year now and we moved on to my life when she started using a dexcom G6. The problem we find is that as she is only 4 years old she is in the care of different people. Between ourselves (both parents), childcare, grandparents and soon school we rely on the app syncing between different devices using the cloud function. The reality is that this simply doesn’t happen consistently. We have had numerous problems with someone ready to inject our daughter and not knowing what the insulin on board is due to the app not syncing. We are forced to have a written food diary to accompany the app to ensure that others can confidently determine whether all of the insulin is out of her system or not. We often feel that a lot of the technological advances in diabetes care is aimed at adults rather than children who need care and are not yet capable of having sole responsibility for their own care.

### 1/5 — Would give zero if possible

*2022-06-03*

Worst app accompanying the worst insulin pump I have ever used. While the Medtronic was a chunky brick, this lightweight piece of useless machinery is honestly worse than horrible. It consistently malfunctions - imagine relying on this inconsistent piece of electronic to keep you alive. It honestly frustrates me that the TGA suspended the t-Slim instead of the ypsopump. If anyone is wondering which to get, go for the t-Slim - it will save you from the frustrations I am currently having with the pump and the app.

You rely on this app to tell you how much insulin to take. But every time the pump malfunctions, it completely disconnects your account in the app from the “Cloud”. Trying to reconnect with the Cloud results in consecutive errors and failures to connect. Improve the app and the pump, ypsomed. If you’re providing a product and app to help people’s lives, please make sure it actually helps.

* Disclaimer: I appreciate the insulin pump technology that is currently available to help people manage their diabetes. This is just a review on this specific pump and app.

### 1/5 — Good when it works

*2021-03-30*

Great for use when using for injections not so great when it’s linked to the pump. The app seems to have a mind of its own. I bolus and the info transfers to the app 2 hours later the bolus has disappeared and showing as no insulin on board. This in itself could be dangerous as I know for a fact I’ve got insulin on board. The solution is to remove the pump from the app and re-add. This is time consuming especially when it’s to be done multiple times a day. Alternatively I can enter the information manually but it records it as an injection. Which results in the incorrect information being shared with my medical team. I would only recommend this if the option was this or no pump.

### 2/5 — Needs to be better

*2023-07-24*

I’ve been using this since Dec’22 on an iPhone SE 2020 and SE 2022. Updated to 2.1.1. In order to get reliable connection with the phone I have to close app after use and restart it before use. Also, if I don’t do this, the mylife app is the main battery user. On a daily basis when I try to bolus I still get the “bolus running” message when it’s not. This is very frustrating especially when eating out as I have to pull the pump out, enter and cancel temp bolus to reset it. I regularly do a combination bolus for a meal but it then refuses to allow me to do a bolus for my desert. I have to get the pump out to do a manual bolus which can be embarrassing if I’m in a restaurant. It also means log book is incorrect as the desert carbs aren’t recorded. Too many small and minor issues. It needs a fix.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2025-07-15*

Amazing and life changing. I’ve noticed a few patch fixes that have improved connectivity to the pump from the phone. There is one glitch that has never been fixed since the app was created. When I type in blood glucose and carb amount and click calculate and before I press yes to deliver I get an option screen with two blank tiles. I always click the right tile which I assume means deliver or agreed to delivery. It would be great if this was fixed.

### 5/5 — I’m new, but I am excited to use this app!

*2024-06-03*

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in May of last year, and it’s been an everyday struggle with calculating the insulin I need to have and keeping track of my glucose levels, but MyLife has already helped and I’ve only had this app for like 2 hours! I’m excited to edit this review once I’ve used MyLife more, because I’m sure it will be wonderful. :)
Hi, I’ve been using for a month or so now, and I LOVE IT. I love that it gives you the .0 things too!

### 5/5 — Great support

*2023-12-05*

Since I started using this app it’s given me a better understanding of my diabetes. I love how it calculates your insulin amount to take and let’s you know how much insulin you have on board to be able to adjust if you need to. 100% happy with this app

### 5/5 — Change of life

*2023-08-02*

Since using this app my life has changed, recently being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes has meant a whole lifestyle change, but the app has made things so much easier to allow me to check my intended food intake and work out what I require to balance my required insulin dose, just brilliant, and more items are added frequently to expand the menu, luv it!

### 5/5 — My life

*2023-07-09*

As i am diabetic and having to have my incline everyday this app helps me to see how much incline to give me so I won’t have a hipper or a hippo so I am rating this 5 stars for its excellent work and amazing because it is free so I don’t have to pay saying that it quite fun changing my profile to make it match my current look as yesterday I went to the beach so I took a picture and used it as my profile picture.

### 5/5 — Brilliant much better and in control daily

*2021-02-06*

My son moved to this app and meter from another brand with no app. Since switching we find the hole process so much easier. No major glitches other than the PdF export tab which I was told by the helpline the developers are fixing for the next update. The app and easy graphics and graphs make the patient (and their family) more in control of the weekly or monthly patterns. Before this dAta was only for a consultant to see a few times a year... now we have a chance to improve correct and learn every day. We are sticking to it and recommend when used with their monitor and using pens.

### 5/5 — THIS IS AMAZING!!

*2020-01-17*

I have no idea why some other people are saying “no i don’t like it” or “it’s too slow” because, in my opinion, this is life changing! No need to count your carbs and work it out on some other meter, nope, you can just put it straight in to this amazing piece of software! It works especially well with people who have the libre or the dexcom, as they don’t have to have a meter any more. Overall, this app is just fully amazing, 10/10 would recommend!!!

### 4/5 — Generally useful but buggy

*2022-12-25*

Very useful app and much better than most other ways to control insulin pumps. The built-in bolus calculator is also very useful.

However I often have to close and re-open the app to get it to connect to my pump. There have also been times where it delivers insulin, and I can see that in the logbook on the Ypsopump, but the log disappears from the app itself and I have to manually add it back as a “pen injection” to keep the insulin on board accurate.

### 4/5 — app has been great but old phone is broken and app won’t let me sign in with new phone

*2022-07-25*

I have had the app since around 10th of december and it has worked perfectly until my old phone that i used it on’s screen had broken. I have recently been trying to transfer all my data on to my new phone however the old phone has not been backed up in months so i have to manually download and log into every app. I have had a lot of difficulties trying to log back into this app particularly, which i heavily rely on as a person with T1D. I have recently changed my password using my email (on this apple account) as the app kept saying “Your credentials are wrong.” but after i changed my password and tried using my new one it still keeps saying that my credentials are wrong. i have used the password i recently created over 10 times to ensure i didn’t put it in wrong, however it still says my credentials are wrong… this is also not the only time i have tried to reset it and it hasn’t let me log in each time i have changed the password. Please could you allow me to sign into my account so i can start using the app again because i am running out of testing strips and would appreciate being able to use the app again, if not that is okay as i can re-enter my details but it would be a lot faster and easier if this problem could be fixed now or next time, so other people don’t have to deal with this problem

### 4/5 — Fantastic! Some additions would earn a 5th star

*2022-06-30*

Love the app. Use with for our 4year old.
Only suggestions would be to sync with Dexcom CGM with getting blood sugar levels across easier.
And also being able to plus or minus bolus of 20% with push of a button, in regards to needing to increase for sick days, or reduce for activity/exercise.
Thank you for the great app!
