### 4/5 — Love it!

*2024-09-18*

Helps me discover a TON of new recipes that my family loves!

### 2/5 — vegan and recommending me non vegan meals

*2024-09-16*

why ask me my dietary restrictions if you’re gonna completely ignore it

### 4/5 — Login with Facebook issues

*2024-09-13*

I love this app and depend on it pretty heavily, but I had it linked to my Facebook and now the Facebook login feature is unavailable, and I can’t access my yums! I’ve tried with my email as well, but it always redirects to Facebook :(

**Developer response:** Hi Chef,
It sounds like you were logged into a different account than you had been using. We did not delete your saved recipes, they are saved in our cloud somewhere.
If you need assistance finding the account with your saved recipes, please email us at support@yummly.com

### 4/5 — Seems good, shame can’t log inventory though

*2024-08-07*

I have been searching lots of apps for meal planning and Inventory logging. This seems the most user friendly when it comes to meal planning, but I’m disappointed there’s no way to log / track expired dates of inventory. I usually cook more than 1 portion and freeze the others, and it would be helpful for me if I could have another list in addition to the shopping list where I can keep a tab on what’s in the freezer, and for how long it’s been there. Mainly in terms of batch cooking rather than individual ingredients though. Otherwise, seems a good app!

### 2/5 — Doesn’t filter like it used to

*2024-07-28*

I’ve had Yummly for years, and have added some banging recipes to my repertoire because of it. I open it up, browse some recipes and pictures and see what I want for dinner. But lately the filtering has been complete rubbish. It’s impossible to browse recipes anymore. Click Vegetarian or Vegan, and you see the same 18 recipes, 6 of which have meat. It’s always leant more towards vegan-keto-weirdness, but at least if I put a filter on I wouldn’t be suggest chicken or ribs. No longer! And the cuisine function has disappeared entirely. Why bother even having those button if you’re only going to show one recipe?

No browse, no fun! 😭

### 3/5 — Update has made this app frustrating

*2023-10-27*

I didn’t even realize that I’ve written a review for this app before but I’ve been trying to use this app recently and it’s way more difficult to navigate than it used to be. I’ve been using this app forever and recently I tried to log in and all my saved recipes are gone and now when I try and search recipes the majority of them have a little 🔒icon and you can’t access them unless you pay for pro. Then if you attempt to navigate anywhere on the app a screen constantly pops up asking you to pay for a subscription. The app is a good idea and I understand the desire to make more money by having people pay for the app but Jesus if I say I’m not interested, stop freaking asking me. And also don’t show me recipes that I cannot actually access.

OLD REVIEW:

I’ve used this app for a couple of years now and appreciate being able to save recipes and find new things to cool every so often. I don’t use this app as much as I used to simply because every time you open the app it now asks if you want to get Yummly pro. Stop asking me that every time I open the app! It also feels like it crashes more than it used to.

**Developer response:** Hi Chef,

Thanks for using Yummly and for writing in. I see how intrusive some of these ads are, and I think Yummly will definitely consider tighter controls over what sites can be on Yummly in the future.

I would definitely avoid this source in the future, but for your convenience I really suggest checking out the yummly owned recipes. All directions are in-app and ad-free.

### 2/5 — It’s ok…. But not what I thought it would be

*2022-09-18, version 8.7*

The app could go miles to become more user friendly. Setting a target temp is… I guess impossible after you set it the first time. Navigating the app is a pain. And if you BBQ, and planned on using it in that application… here are some of the problems you might encounter: most people will download the app on their phone. A lot of people are going to want to walk to an ice chest or fridge filled with cold beer. Some will even want to go to whatever device your listening to your favorite music to make adjustments. Some will want to visit a bathroom from time to time, whether a short break or an attempt to clone the President. All the above won’t be thinking about leaving your phone behind so it stays connected to the thermometer. THAT ALONE makes me want to give one star instead of two. The good news is: there will be vast opportunities for improvement, and if achieved, the bragging rights of how much has been accomplished in the improvement stage will be legendary.

**Developer response:** Hi Robby,
Some of these issues you have solutions. If you can email us at support@yummly.com I'm happy to walk you through these (like easily changing target temp) and I'd love to hear more feedback about navigating the app in general. Unfortunately, Bluetooth connections do have their limitations as far as range, but we do have a solution that will solve this issue being released in the future.

### 3/5 — 👍👍

*2022-01-03*

man i loved this app but then it got more popular and you need a subscription for many things you didn’t before and i can’t even get the subscription cause im not in the states 😒

### 4/5 — Concept is great but…

*2021-12-24, version 8.1.1*

The app is extensive and certainly makes searching for recipes that are specific to your tastes, food sensitivities items or allergies, or preferences more streamlined including creating shopping lists that are integrated with where you shop. However, the time you save gets lost when you click on a recipe and it takes you to someone’s rambling blog or an influencer’s blog filled with click bait ads. I just am looking for recipes. I really do not want to read a a 5 page article about it. But I guess that’s how Yummly and the blogs that they point back to make their money. I probably won’t keep it past the free trial. I don’t have time for the fluff. If it was just a recipe only app without the articles, would be better.

### 2/5 — Difficult to learn and filters don’t work

*2021-03-16, version 6.7*

I’ve been using Allrecipes for many years. Recently, their app stopped working on my phone so I’m looking for a replacement. Reviews seemed to point towards this app.

Too complicated to begin with. It took my ten minutes just to get started and even then I was confused. I set my filters as Gluten-free AND wheat free (why both choices are there, I do not know) and dairy free. Out of the twenty or so favorite cuisines they offer, I selected about half of them. Typed in ‘chicken’ as main ingredient and first recipe it suggests is one that hasn’t yet been rated, AND contains two cups of flour?! So I added to my filter - do not want wheat flour. Try again with ‘chicken’ and this time the first choice it gives me is one from a cuisine category I didn’t select, also containing dairy.

Sorry, but I’m very much unimpressed!!

### 4/5 — Love this, but...

*2021-03-10, version 6.7*

I love this app. My husband introduced me to it a couple years back and we both use it on a weekly basis. The layout makes it less intimidating when finding something new to cook. It has options to help with shopping and has videos from chefs to help with some recipes (you have to pay for that portion.) which is nice.
Unfortunately, the app stopped working for me about 2-3 weeks ago. It started right after an update in Feb so I thought maybe it was a bad update. However I have had I believe two updates since than and it hasn’t fixed itself. I went to help page and that didn’t do anything for trying to figure out what is going on. I still use Yummly on my web browser but it is not as good as the app and keeps me from using it as often as I use to. I deleted the app and downloaded it again but it’s saying there is something wrong with my user. Not sure what happened but if this keeps up I may end up not using it. I pay for pro because I like it so much but if I can’t use it to the extent I’m used to there isn’t much keeping me from canceling my subscription.

### 5/5 — Simply the best!

*2021-02-19*

I love using this website since my son, living in Australia, introduced me to it early in 2020 when we were visiting him. Since Covid restrictions have been in place in the UK I have enjoyed spending time getting to know your site more and trying out new recipes.
The ease at which you can put in the combination of ingredients followed by the individual dishes is just great. I am having great fun doing this and enjoying the almost 100% success of dishes I have chosen.
Thank you Yum

### 1/5 — What happened?

*2024-11-19*

Why are you closing the app?

### 1/5 — Log in

*2024-09-28*

Can’t log in since the update all of my saved recipes are gone

### 1/5 — Thanks for the great update.

*2024-09-18*

Constant log in problems since last update. All my saved recipes are gone. Thanks .

### 1/5 — Meal Planner

*2024-09-17*

Used to be a Great App, but now since the new update the Meal Planner is LOCKED! 😡

### 1/5 — Meal Plan is locked and I can’t figure out how to pay for it

*2024-09-14*

Would really love to love this app because it looks beautiful and useful, but the Meal Plan feature is locked and I’ve spent 30 minutes trying everything I can think of to pay for the app to unlock it, to no avail. Sort of ridiculous. Super frustrating.

### 1/5 — Linking any outlook email will result in login failure

*2024-08-23*

This app is a potential minefield so avoid it especially when coming to your outlook 96 hours after my email sign in request still no link in my email address in any of my mailboxes and spam.

### 1/5 — Sloppy updates every time

*2024-04-10*

New update INSTANTLY CRASHES BEFORE LOADING. Always issues every update. Will be finding a new app

**Developer response:** Hi Chef,
The "Ingredients On hand" is meant to act as a one-time filter. It is not really intended to stay on from search to search. If it is turning on mid-search, please let me know at support@yummly.com

### 1/5 — Cancel subscription

*2021-04-18, version 6.8*

Yummly has too many ads, requires multiple clicks to get to the heart of a recipe, and profiles recipes for me that don’t fit my needs. But what is the most frustrating is trying to cancel my subscription. It’s a never ending do-loop of logging into website to access my account, then being sent an email that asks me to sign in. I have then gotten to the place to cancel my subscription, which I do, but then the website will not allow me to cancel my account until I have canceled my subscription, which I have already done (or think I’ve done). But at each step, I have to log in to website where it again sends me an email with link to sign in and I have to start all over. It just keeps repeating. This doesn’t make any sense, does it? No. I can’t even explain what is happening because it is utter nonsense. I want to cancel my subscription and delete my account. And it doesn’t appear that I can. So, my advice is to avoid this app at all costs. It’s a trap and there are better cooking apps out there. And if I did successfully cancel my subscription, please cancel my account. I have tried multiple times and it just keeps telling me that I need to cancel my subscription first. Which I tried to do. That’s how bad this is.

**Developer response:** Sorry for any trouble you had canceling your subscription. Please reach out to me at Support@yummly.com and I will make sure any issues you're having are resolved.

### 1/5 — Worst Recipe App without a doubt

*2020-12-31, version 6.4.2*

I hated their website and app several years ago when I tried to use. But one of my dear friend sent me a recipe “Super Energy Kale Soup” via email I tried click the link and open it in my browser, ingredients comes up but when I click “get directions” , that page never stop loading and nothing comes up. I’m kind of person who have insane amount patient!! So I go to App Store and download the app, and follow through the 10 minutes worth of crap to finish signing up, then even get the pro version. I searched for the kale soup recipe and and when it came up I clicked “ get directions”, same thing happened and it opens a blank page. Now most people would give up by then, but I decided to try one more recipe to see if only that one kale recipe soup has issue, but second and third recipe same thing. I use an IPhone XR and all the software are up to date. I don’t care what million other people say, after spending 25 minutes of my life I will never get back... this is the worst recipe app or to be honest any app I have ever used. Your incompetence is nothing short of unspeakable!!

### 1/5 — Rae Duthie

*2019-12-16*

I’ve been using this app for a long time & loved it! Not any more!! It won’t let me sign in & freezes up when I try to use it without signing in. Trying to make me upgrade & pay a monthly fee!! I’ll go find another app instead! Too bad I’ll lose all the recipes I saved though.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Yummly

*2024-09-27*

AWSOME SITE - LOVE THE VARIETY of recipes from all over the world and the way they’re organized and easy to follow! Most of the recipes I tried turned out very tasty!

### 5/5 — 30 minutes no!

*2024-05-05*

Amazing and delicious but took more me with prep. Worth it but plan for more than 30 minutes!

### 5/5 — My Go-To Grocery App

*2023-11-05*

Honestly worth the money if you're on the fence about paying. Make cooking less of a hassle by adding recipe ingredients to a shopping list, or tailor your experience for whatever diet needs you have. It's also a great way to explore different cuisines.

Only downside is no Chrome integration with adding your own recipes. I have to open a recipe in Safari for it to add to my Yums properly.

### 5/5 — Used it for years

*2023-06-21*

Many years ago I searched for an app with these functions and happily started using Yummly. I don’t use many of the integrated features for scheduling or lists but I have lots of collections and love being prompted by new recipes. I exclusively use this app for my recipe keeping. So thankyou to the developers. I’d be lost without it. Still using it regularly.

### 5/5 — Yummly’s Awesome!!

*2021-09-21*

As a parent of 3 boys, we often get stuck cooking the same thing over and over that we know they’ll eat.
With Yummly, I simply put in the type of meat we have pulled out and look for inspiration…
It’s fantastic, and like so many of the order type meals that cost so much and are actually very fattening have all the ingredients and instructions easily accessable, for a fraction of the price while having a diverse range of meals!!
Thanks Yummly, I love you and you make it so easy to please 3 growing boys and a wife who loves me cooking👊🏻

### 5/5 — This is brilliant, especially considering it is free

*2021-09-01*

The only slightly annoying thing is that you have to leave the app to see the directions, but to be honest that doesn’t really bother me. It is presented really nicely, it has a huge variety of dishes, you can make meal plans and shopping lists really easily and it also has these pro courses that I haven’t tried yet but I had a look and they seem to have a lot of detail and teach you different cooking techniques, and it is all broken down in a simple way. And all of this is free, no subscription or anything!

### 5/5 — Heaven for gf vegans !!!

*2021-08-31*

I have many cookbooks and feeds to follow but to have everything in one place with so very many options per ingredient as well as ability to adjust suggestions based on intolerances ans preferences is just marvellous. I looked up black rice to start and couldn’t believe just how many recipes there were for an ingredient that is not that well known. To be honest, I truly appreciate the excellent presentation above all else; it makes me want to recreate all I see! fabulous app!

### 5/5 — Best time waster in the world😄😄

*2021-08-12*

Great app, only problem is that I find it hard to leave it as I just love the endless great recipes

### 5/5 — My go to app

*2021-06-18*

I have been using Yummly for a long time ... It just keep getting better and better ... I love how I can flick between devices (iPad to phone) to check shopping list when I'm out and about

### 5/5 — Great!

*2021-03-07, version 6.7*

It’s the best free recipe app! You can save recipes to different categories. The app starts you off with some categories, but you can create your own categories that make sense to you so that you can easily find what you have a taste for. You can click on ingredients right from the recipe, & they go to your shopping list which is organized by type (produce, meat, etc.). You can check it off in the app as you buy it, but it doesn’t disappear. It just moves to a completed section of your list, then you delete it when you want. In the shopping list, it also tells you what recipe the ingredient is for, AND you can get to the recipe right from the specific ingredient in your shopping list. 🤗 There are SO many recipes too AND different recipes for (ways to make) the same dish. Some recipes for a dish may be easier or have a different twist. There is so much possibility.
