### 2.2.2 — 2026-09-17

What's New in 2.2.2

Launch at Startup
Start SafeVault when you log in to your Mac.

• Toggle in Settings → Launch at Startup, or from the menu bar tray

Security
Decrypted passwords are never kept as leftover text.

• Secrets stay in memory as wipeable bytes and are overwritten with zeros when hidden or no longer needed
• Clipboard auto-clear (Settings → Privacy): after 30 seconds, overwrite with random text, then empty the clipboard
• If you copy something else first, it is left alone

Stability
• Crash reports (Settings, on by default) send anonymous stacks so we can fix bugs; vault contents, passwords, and clipboard are never sent

### 2.2.0 — 2026-08-27

What's New in 2.2.0

Built-in Authenticator (TOTP)
Generate time-based verification codes in SafeVault—no separate authenticator app for vault-linked accounts.

• Create a new Base32 secret in-app (defaults: SHA-1, 30 seconds, 6 digits)
• Paste an otpauth:// URI, a Google Authenticator transfer (otpauth-migration://), or a plain Base32 secret
• Scan a QR with the camera (iPhone & iPad), or pick a QR image / text file on desktop
• Import from Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator
• Multi-account Google exports show a review list (select / deselect) before you save; duplicates are skipped
• Counter-based HOTP accounts in a migration export are skipped with a notice
• Invalid or unsupported QR / URI shows a clear error; a half-parsed secret is never stored
• Imported accounts keep their own algorithm, digits, and period so codes match the source app (for example SHA-256, 8 digits, or 60 seconds)
• See the live code, remaining seconds with period progress, and copy the code (or the secret when revealed)
• Each account can have a label and issuer for display
• Secrets are encrypted at rest with the same AES-256-GCM vault key as your passwords; plaintext from scan or paste is discarded as soon as possible
• Codes exist in memory only when you show, generate, or copy them

Vault linking
• Attach an existing authenticator account, or create one and link it, from a vault entry
• Copy the current verification code from the vault without opening Authenticator
• Search the Attach TOTP picker by issuer or label
• Unlink without deleting the account unless you confirm delete

Quick Search
• When an entry has a linked TOTP, copy the password or the current verification code
• Copies use the same auto-clear clipboard as passwords (Settings → Privacy)
• On macOS, ⌘⌃P Quick Search now focuses on the first press

Search
• Space-separated terms AND-match across vault home, Attach TOTP, and Quick Search
• Wrap phrases in "double quotes" to keep spaces
• Quick Search matches category, title, description, and password

Editing & generator
• After Add Entry, the new title is focused; Tab (desktop) / Next (mobile) moves title → password → description
• While editing a password, generate a 16-character strong password in place (same generator as the Password Generator page)
• Newest-first sort applies when you finish the edit (Enter or click away), not on each Tab
• Desktop Add Entry / Tab keeps title focus; on mobile, description stays ready after you confirm a password change

Sync & backup
• Authenticator accounts travel with local network sync and JSON import/export
• Secrets are re-encrypted to the destination device key; vault entries keep only a non-secret link
• Fresh-install sync works even when the vault only has sample or empty data (a vault key and fingerprint are created first)
• Same-title merges keep authenticator links

Where to find Authenticator
• Desktop: sidebar item immediately after Security
• iPhone & iPad: open Authenticator from Security or Password Generator (no extra tab)
