Tried it straight away - scan an item: ‘Item not found. Due to essential planned maintenance we…’ Same the following day, and the day after…same message. Your essential planned maintenance clearly isn’t that essential if you’re not trying hard enough to get your app to work at all. Shame I can’t give lower than one star but this is just not fit for purpose. ### 1/5 — Not working! *2022-07-19, version 3.1.2* Every time I scan a barcode a message in red displays cannot process due to maintenance. Has been this way for weeks. Not a good app. Sort it out!! ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2022-06-14, version 3.1.2* I was delighted that they accepted a lot of books that other sites hadn’t taken but they were all for a penny. When I reached the grand total of £4.03 the app stopped and said the weight of my books was too great. I couldn’t cash in, however, as it was under the minimum £5 sale. The books I could sell elsewhere have gone and the rest will go to a charity shop. A huge waste of time and effort. ### 1/5 — Rip off *2022-03-29, version 3.1.2* They give 1p for most books where everyone else would pay 20p. I saw other reviewers wrote they weren’t paid for good condition books they sent in. I thought they were just unlucky until it happened to me. I sent in brand new Star Trek books, they were the most valuable items of the lot I sold. Zapper emailed me that I wasn’t to be paid because they were in “poor condition”. Lies. The were brand new unread. Employees must get a kick out of scamming people. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2022-03-01, version 3.1.2* Clearing out old CDs and DVDs. Most CDs will be given 1p value and then you can’t submit your complete order until you reach a minimum of £5.00. So I duly sent off nearly 100 CDs eventually. Their delivery service is via Hermes. I sent my parcel off and nearly two weeks later, they still haven’t received it. I have used other re-selling apps and I won’t use ZAPPER again. ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2022-02-19, version 3.1.2* After scanned almost a 100 items. The app says., ‘We cannot accept trades with a value of less than £5.00. Please add more items to your list’. So considering that most items are valued for £0.01, I’d need to scan 500 items! ### 1/5 — Dishonest *2022-02-15, version 3.1.1* I carefully scanned and packed up over 170 dvds. I was offered a few pounds on certain titles but these apparently failed testing when they arrived. They were fine but I guess they wanted to pay as little as possible so they didn’t pay for the more expensive titles and wouldn’t return them to me. Just very sad that even on such small value they felt the need to cheat their customer. ### 2/5 — It’s ok but nothing more *2021-09-08, version 3.0.7* The app told me that the first item I scanned was already in the list! Ridiculous. The scanner works ok most of the time though couldn’t recognise some barcodes. The prices offered were so low I’d spend more in petrol, packing and time than would make the exercise worthwhile. May as well take the items to a local charity shop. Really disappointing. ### 1/5 — App tries buy most items for £0 *2021-06-08, version 3.0.7* This is ridiculous. App expecting to buy things for £0 and they will probably sell these things on for lots of money. How dumb do you think your customers are?? ### 1/5 — Adds your items for no money *2021-05-02, version 3.0.7* Even if their offer is 0p they still put the item in their basket. Lol, no thanks! ### 1/5 — Waste of time *2021-03-12, version 3.0.7* I used this to send PlayStation games and cd’s to get cash for my young nephew . Had to give a lot away for a penny to get to the £5.00 minimum send . But Harry Potter PlayStation game was supposed to collect £2.26 . Dropped my box off at the pick up shop 2miles away and when my order was processed they said the games were not in good order . I received £1.38! In total ! I’d rather have donated them to someone . There was nothing wrong with them! ### 1/5 — AVOID *2021-03-03, version 3.0.7* I sent my books in and they emailed me saying 2 books were missing when I clearly counted the books before dispatching them and they said 2 books were not in good condition. All the books I sent were in great condition. I used 3 other companies and was paid quicker and with no problem whatsoever. Ziffit App, great book app paid within 2 days. We buy books App, also great book App. Sell it back App, also a great book App. Avoid this dishonest company!!! Very disappointed!! I would give it no stars if I could!! ### 1/5 — Massive bug on the app *2021-02-11, version 3.0.7* App has a really bad bug that needs fixing. Sometimes a barcode will not be recognised so that a white box comes up at the bottom (despite the fact when you scan the same barcode for a different trade it does work). After this barcode is not recognised, ALL barcodes after that will not be recognised unless you delete all the items in your trade and start again. Four times I’ve tried completing this trade and I’ve encountered this issue all four times halfway through scanning, so much so that I can’t complete the trade. Completely breaks the app and needs fixing. ### 1/5 — Terrible App. DO NOT use *2021-01-08, version 3.0.7* Regretted using this App. Would not recommend! At first, it took all my books (which were in very good condition), but offered a low price ( which I didn’t mind as was having a clear out). Most of my books were given a price below 30p, except for one which was brand new and unused and was given a price of £4.10. After carefully packing each item, I triple checked all the books I’d scanned before packing & another family member also confirmed I had packed all books on the list. Once books were received by zapper, I was surprised most were rejected, even though they were in good or unused condition. I was prepared to accept this BUT, funnily enough, the one book which was most expensive (£4.10), they claimed they hadn’t received! I was totally baffled by this as I was 100% sure I had packed it and this was witnessed by another household member. Nevertheless, I still searched at home for it to no success. When I contacted zapper, they were adamant they hadn’t received it, even though I was sure I had posted it and remember it because it was the most expensive book and remember putting it in the box. They said I had no proof!! To which I replied that what proof did I have they hadn’t received it!! The whole thing seemed dishonest to me and will not trust them again. After much deliberation, I did manage to get my £4.10 back, but the whole process seemed like a rip off to me and would give zero stars if I could. Would not trust them again and probably best to take a video of your books while you’re packing, so you have proof of what you’re sending!! ### 1/5 — Avoid - Rip Off Merchants *2020-12-10, version 3.0.7* Avoid these people or you will be ripped off big time. They pull you in by giving you a fair first trade but after that they find fault with every book you send. My wife sent a trade in, include some near new books, one still in a wrapper and they got rejected as they found fault with the books. Bare in mind we are talking, in some cases, second hand, they expect the books to be in near new condition. Even when they are they get rejected. Avoid this bunch of crooks. There are other book buying apps out there and offer you a fair price. ### 1/5 — Scam! *2020-11-26, version 3.0.7* Take pictures or a video before sending your books! They knocked my payment to half with the excuse that the books I sent were in poor condition....nonsense! Funny they deducted the books that were the most valuable. Do not use! Ziffit are much better and paid what they promised me. ### 1/5 — Dishonest robbers - zero stars *2020-10-10, version 3.0.7* Sent a medium sized bundle of DVDs plus a pair of headphones. Only paid out on half the items claiming the others were missing. If you use this company, take a photo of your package and contents before sending. I have deleted the app and won’t be using again. Highest offer was 1 pence. Don’t waste your time on this ### 1/5 — 2024 lure you in but then… *2024-02-02, version 3.1.2* Scanned 10 DVDs and getting between 20p-30p for each one. Soon as I get past my 10th item suddenly every DVD is only worth 1p. I scanned another 20x all at 1p Each?? ### 1/5 — Permanent maintenance, waste of time *2023-08-11, version 3.1.2* I liked the idea of these guys. Even if i got nothing for my old DVDs I’d be happy for them to go somewhere and be reused or recycled. But this app hasn’t worked EVER on any single barcode on any DVD since I downloaded it. Tried eBay, but no luck, so sent them off to Zapper and quite quickly received cash for them. Some books I only got 20p for, but it all adds up and hopefully someone else can read them now. ### 5/5 — Excellent service *2021-06-13, version 3.0.7* Zapper is one of my two favourite book-buying apps, the other being Ziffit. They both pay the most for books, and often give books a different value from each other, so I think it’s best to use both. Where Zapper differs from all the other book-buying apps is that they’ll take almost any book, even if they deem it to have no value - allowing you to declutter your house of all the books you’ll never read again. (However, you can’t pack every single book into your box as there’s a maximum weight limit of 10kg. 10kg is still a lot though!) Please note that you also need a printer for the labels. I got paid promptly into my bank account and the whole process was really smooth. I’m happy and will definitely use them again. ### 5/5 — Excellent app *2021-04-21, version 3.0.7* Probably the easiest way I’ve found to both get rid of clutter and make a few quid too! A very simple and user-friendly process with a payout within a few days. I also loved that they accept items worth 0p because they can recycle them. I will definitely be using Zapper again. ### 5/5 — Great service *2018-06-06* I use a variety of apps for getting rid of unwanted items and so have good experience if the process. Zapper is one of the lesser known brands and pay via cheque as opposed to bank transfer. However I have found the service for my recent transaction to be swift and without incident. The Collectplus service allows you to track your parcel although Zapper send emails to update on the process regularly. As with all apps it is worth comparing whether you are getting the best price, however for their reliable service I will be using Zapper again in the future. ### 5/5 — Efficient *2018-04-14* Good app, easy to scan. Sometimes does double scan but not really a problem, just the app being faster than me. Like that it saves all your items as we uploaded things over a 2 week period. Free positing efficient and the communication Emils were great. Cheque seems quite an old fashioned way to pay but that’s only a small issue. ### 5/5 — Good service *2018-02-08* The app is quick for scanning so made the process of listing and boxing 45 games and CDs really quick. Email correspondence excellent and payment confirmed exactly as quoted. Many services don’t end up giving you the promised amount for your trade. Well done Zapper ### 4/5 — Great service! *2018-09-24, version 1.0.3* Love this app/company! I cleaned out boxes of old books (wish I had found this before I donated all my old CDs and DVDs). You don’t make much for each book, but it was nice to get a check for £45 for three boxes of books that I will never read again. The entire process was seamless with regular updates until it came time to receive the cheque - after two weeks, I still had not been paid. I sent an email and received a response almost immediately, and the cheque was printed and sent the next day - great service. Just a note - each box you send must be under 10kg, or the courier won’t collect it. They do tell you this, but it is somewhat buried in the shipping instructions. ### 4/5 — Easy to use *2018-09-08* I found the app very easy to use and most of what I wanted rid of was accepted. The prices were better than other apps/services I looked into. Sending my stuff was easy, I just dropped it at a local store and was given a receipt. I could track my parcel the whole way and the cheque arrived quickly.
