Zapptax cannot even confirm that they send my form to tax authorities or when it was sent. The shorter deadline is blatant lie and me and everyone else will confirm that it is more like 10-20 weeks or more. Getting a shop give you an invoice for zapptax adress is a nightmare if you are not fluent in French and can explain accountancy lingo. Only plus is you get tiny bit more which personally I don’t think it is worth the headache or the wait. My partner who used a more conventional method like Globalblue received his tax in 2 weeks. The difference in timescale is BIG. I will not use them again. If you decide to use them get ready for 3-5 months of waiting and customer service that copies and pastes the same message to you. ### 3/5 — Refunds now works for Canadian credit card holders *2026-05-26, version 3.10* Originally, after several months, Zapptax received our refund from the tax authorities. However, they then told us that the partner they were then using for credit card payments could not support refunds for Canadian and U.S. credit cards, which was the reason for my original one star bad review of the Zapptax app. A couple of months later, as indicated in the response to my original review, Zapptax told us that they were now trying out a new partner for credit card payments. It ultimately resulted in the refund to our credit card finally being processed, which is why I have since updated to three stars my review of the Zapptax app. ### 1/5 — Scam *2025-07-20, version 3.2.1* Do not use them. Online chat is useless repeating the same thing again again with the same stereotype message. You ll find so much better service elsewhere. Claiming issues with French tax agencies, Fine. Buggy, slow, had to make multiple accounts and support wasn’t able to help. Ended up missing out on a refund. I am now on another trip and the Zapptax app won’t let me start a new trip because the last trip is still ‘open’ as the refund has not been paid. Unfortunately, I am in Brittany and the local retailers here are not big enough for Global Blue so it’s Zapptax or nothing. Apparently, it’s nothing for this trip. ### 1/5 — Refunds really not guaranteed for Canadian and U.S. credit card holders 😫 *2026-02-10, version 3.6.1* After several months, Zapptax finally received our refund from the tax authorities. However, they then told us that the partner they use for credit card payments could not support refunds for Canadian and U.S. credit cards. Even if they brag of supporting the refund method of our choice, they now ask us to enter our bank account information in the app. Would you provide it to them? ### 1/5 — No money back for months…. *2026-01-28, version 3.6.1* I tried to make the refunds easier by using the app while in France. Everything went fine at the airport and was accepted by customs. However it’s now almost 4 months later and I still have not seen my money back. I got an email that I need to attach a bank account since they can’t credit back to the card but still have not seen a dime. Doing it the old fashioned detax way I got my money after a few weeks. There is no excuse and I think they are making money by not paying out your refund. I spent half hour to explain to the sales and eventually still got the invoice with my name and a tax refund form with my name with the apps address which is weird. I am not sure whether it works or not to proceed. It is very confusing to people who shop in foreign countries and also the shops. It is better to use the traditional method using the tax refund form issued by shops. It is the most secure way to get back the refund. I don’t recommend this apps. ### 1/5 — Scammers *2025-11-17, version 3.4.1* 3 months later, after processing forms in Paris and receiving approval from customs and on the Zapptax app, I receive an email from Zapptax (at a sketchy email address). It states payment is ready, but they cannot credit my credit card and require my banking information. Would you give it to them? ### 1/5 — Didn’t work *2025-09-17, version 3.3* Barcode wouldn’t scan. Customs wanted paper. Go paper, at least then you have a back up if something goes wrong. Amazing customer service too. ### 5/5 — Tax Refund success *2023-04-26, version 2.7* I was a bit nervous since this is my first time using this app. However, it was a relatively smooth process. Download the app, make your purchase and ask for the invoice as indicated in the app (I went to Galeries Lafayette and either the clerk or their tax/concierge desk made the invoice without issue), then scan or stamp at customs. I had a bit of an issue with using an American bank account but a quick chat got it straightened out. You can either use a bank or PayPal for the refund (the credit card feature didn’t work for me). All in all I got 90% of the 20% VAT (calculated as 18% VAT on the subtotal as the refunded amount). Refund amount varies a bit depending on your total purchases. This is a lot more than the in person tax agencies! Refund took about a week after I submitted the forms. PayPal/your bank may also charge a fee for the wire/exchange into USD during the refund so be mindful for that. The in person places do the same. Took me about a month go get my refund. Not 24 hours. It would be nice if they mention it… so it’s not false advertised since it’s no longer 24 hour. Easy to use. Was able to claim all my purchases even without invoice edited. So that is super good. The more you spend the more percent you get back. Highest is 14.99% which I got. So I personally think it’s worth the wait. Then the traditional way which is 10% cash at the airport. I would recommend using this!!! ### 5/5 — EU tax refund made super easy! *2022-10-28, version 2.3.2* I am using the app for years now and it a lifesaver for the tax refund process. The biggest benefit is that you’re not limited to each “store daily sales limit” in order to get a refund. You can aggregate all the receipt through ZappTax and they will be the one managing all the paperwork. Everything is digital and super easy to use. They also helped me figure out how to validate the form after my trip because I couldn’t find a custom’s agent and none of the “Pablo” machines were working. It was a bit tricky but we finally made it. Thanks again guys.
