It used to be so chill to have an ad open and then be able to close it and continue the game. Well, what do you do with your dragon??🤔🫤But, Zen Koi is awesome 😎 and I found out that I’m a really successful breeder. I have rare koi from different types of koi, and get some colorful ones. Also the possibility’s good because the checks on the possible koi turn out (sometimes) into a different koi!! Watching an ad for a boost i understand. I can play for 5 minutes without an ugly unskippable ad that I can only get out of by closing and reopening the game! It’s unplayable! I shouldn’t have to pay to get rid of the ads just to play the game! ### 1/5 — Spam After Playing *2023-03-11, version 1.12.1* I played this game many years ago and didn’t seem to have any issues with it. I redownloaded it again last week and a notification (that I had to interact with in order to close) appeared stating that the app has in app purchases. Within an hour of playing this for the first time (last week) I received a strange Japanese email requesting payment confirmation. Since then I have received two other strange Japanese emails stating that I’ve created accounts on Japanese websites that I have never even heard of, with multiple links scattered throughout. I’m not 100% sure if this app is the cause of this however it began in time with my first opening of this app and there are no other known explanations. The app is peaceful and lovely to play after a busy day, but it’s not worth it. ### 1/5 — I have this on both Android & Apple there are huge differences *2022-10-05, version 1.12.1* I love the Android version and I will give it 5 stars. It actually helps me to slow or stop an anxiety attack from getting out of control. The Android version ads are manageable. The Apple version ads are out of control and is actually more likely to make my anxiety worse. I am willing to watch ads when it’s necessary but in the Apple version it is very detrimental to game play. The more I think about it the lower the star count goes. ### 1/5 — What a way to ruin a real game *2021-04-18, version 1.11.8* I tried this again after being away a long time, and this version is nothing like the relaxing game I used to play. Inserting ads every time you change screen views is bad enough, but they also cause the game to fail and become all but unplayable. They also force you to use Facebook to get all the functionality of the game, which Zen Koi 2 avoids. This game was ruined by ads and poor programming. Don’t bother. If you loved the original trying this version will ruin those relaxing memories of what it used to be. ### 1/5 — Fun game lots of crashes *2020-07-19, version 1.11.3* This is such a fun game! Unfortunately the game was built to prey upon anxieties of never seeing something again to encourage the player to purchase “pearls.” It’s a collection game that gives limited slots to collect. I would have gladly bought this game outright, but that isn’t an option, and watching ads for one pearl when slots cost 100+, is neither relaxing nor worthy. If you don’t mind being a whale or being nickled and dimed, this game could be for you. ### 1/5 — 楽しく遊んでいいたのですが... *2020-04-17* 機種変更したらデータ移行ができません せっかくコツコツ育てた200匹近い龍が もうアクセスできないサイバー空間へ消え去りました。 時間は無駄になりましたが、無課金だったので損はないですが **Developer response:** Zen Koi 2は、まったく新しいパターンとゲーム機能を備えた独立したゲームであるため、最初のゲームのデータを転送することはできません。 ただし、ZK1プレイヤーは、最初のゲームでの時間と労力に対して報酬が与えられます。 詳細については、メモをご覧ください。 [https://www.facebook.com/notes/zen-koi-2/new-achievements/1878541262159249]プレイヤーが両方のゲームを一緒に楽しめることを願っています。 ### 1/5 — AVOID: Ads & IAP & constant crashing *2018-07-22* Zen Koi has had premium currency in-app-purchases (IAP) for as long as I've had the app. A forced update added advertisements which disrupt the flow and kill the zen vibe that was the game's main selling point. Now, the fullscreen ads are making the app constantly crash to desktop. They destroyed their own game in order to bombard it with ads. It's nearly unplayable in its current state. PS: If you can't even load the game, there is no excuse for giving it a rating higher than the lowest possible. A game that can't even be played should get the lowest possible marks. UPDATE: Unfortunately, it turns out that the ads for pearls (rewarded ads) are the ones causing most of the crashing. If the game only crashed when the rewarded ads ran, you could avoid the crashing by not playing the ads and missing out on those pearls. However, the crashes seem to be caused by the game contacting the server, so when the server is flaky, the game crashes constantly whether you avoid rewarded ads or not. LandShark contacted me. "For Zen Koi, you can get rid of interstitial ads with any purchase in the game, even the cheapest but rewarded ads you can still use it to earn pearls." He does not deny that the ads are causing the crashes. He gives no indication that LandShark has any plans to fix it. His only suggestion - that I give his company money for a constantly crashing app full of ads and IAP - would not solve the problem. Caveat emptor. **Developer response:** We apologize for the experience. We misunderstood and thought that you were talking about the interstitial ads. Regarding rewarded ad crashing the game, we have since informed our ad provider about this issue and they have blocked the ad that is causing the issue. If it is still crashing your game, please let us know which ad in particular e.g. Empires and Puzzles, etc is causing the crash. ### 1/5 — Really enjoyed it, until..... *2017-09-27, version 1.10.5* I was really enjoying the game, but there is no easy way to get pearls, which you NEED. I don't mind watching ads in order to not pay, but at one 30 second ad for ONE pearl, when the 3rd koi slot costs 50 pearls, and I imagine it only goes up from there ... that's just too ridiculous and the $$ price for pearls is astronomical.
