### 3/5 — Great no-nonsense camera app but one flaw!

*2026-05-13, version 4.9.6*

Please add the ability to enable “mirror” selfie camera photos!

I absolutely despise the way “regular” selfie camera photos appear! I always turn on “mirror” selfie photos mode on even the stock iOS camera app.

It’s a huge dealbreaker that this doesn’t have “mirror” selfie photos option. It’s a pita to have to manually go into the photos app and edit it and flip the selfie image horizontally.

I really enjoy the rest of this app though! It’s simple, and straight to the point. The zero cam mode is on point too! Looks excellent without all that extra processing.

### 4/5 — Good, but some issues with smaller screens

*2026-05-03*

Overall I really like the photos zerocam takes; they look solid without being over edited. However, there is one issue for me. The controls are a bit poorly laid out/designed for my iPhone SE. the capture button and the buttons to flip the camera/change zoom overlap significantly. It’s usable but it’s a bit of an inconvenience, especially because it’s pretty easy to misclick and switch the camera instead capturing and vise versa. This could be remedied with smaller buttons for both the capture and lens buttons. But overall, the app is pretty solid

**Developer response:** Hi Alexx, thanks so much for the kind words and for taking the time to point this out!

Great news — we've fixed it! The UI has been reworked so the capture button and the lens/flip controls no longer overlap, and it should look and feel much better on smaller devices like the iPhone SE now. No more accidental camera flips mid-shot.

We're a small indie team of just two people (one designer, one developer), so feedback like yours genuinely helps us prioritize what to improve next — it's the best way for us to know what's actually getting in the way of people enjoying the app. We really appreciate you flagging this instead of just walking away.

If the new update feels better on your SE, we'd be incredibly grateful if you'd consider bumping your review up to 5 stars — it makes a huge difference for a tiny team like ours and helps more photographers discover Zerocam.

Happy shooting!
— The Zerocam team

### 2/5 — Looks nice but...?

*2026-04-19*

Edit button doesn't do anything. I'm unsure what its supposed to do...

Might also because I have a fairly basic iPhone but half the advertised widgets aren't available to me.

And 2x doesn't work. Photos are saved 1x. Feels like work is needed...

Edit: reduced rating. It’s sad I had to pay for this to find out it just doesn’t work.

Response to developer: I dont write reviews based on whether they hurt or help you, I review based on whether the app works. Yours doesn't: it has at least two broken features (edit and zoom). These do not need 'clarification', they are/were objectively broken. And no I can't test your latest version to see if they're fixed, because I've already used the free trial and a paid week, which I thought was an entirely reasonable attempt to give this app a chance. Instead all I got was the unhelpful developer reply.

**Developer response:** Hi! We have made a lot of improvements to the app lately, maybe you can give it another shot? In the latest version of Zerocam (5.0.0), we have brought back the lifetime purchase, because everybody was asking for it :-) Please, consider leaving us a 5-star review, if you think we deserve it. We're a small indie team of 2 people and the App Store ratings are so important for us 💛

### 3/5 — add flash option please

*2026-04-17, version 4.9*

i really like the look of these photos but sometimes i want to use the flash! that would take this app over the edge and make me keep my subscription

### 3/5 — Glitchy

*2026-03-07, version 4.7*

50/50 on if the photo you take will get even get saved to the camera roll. Even after a reinstall. With no way to contact the developer I would give this one a miss …

### 2/5 — Doesn't save any images

*2026-01-05, version 4.6.2*

Maybe I'm missing the point of an app as modern art, but Zerocam doesn't seem to save any of the images it takes even after giving it full permission for my photos. Interface looks great, though.

### 2/5 — Improvement suggestions

*2025-09-29, version 4.4.1*

Have sent multiple emails but have had no reply, so sharing here.

I would love for you to consider 1) a front-facing camera option, 2) a faster way to switch lenses in-app, and 3) a visual indicator when rotating device to landscape (e.g. rotate the text on buttons).

Also, on iOS 26 my photos appear to be incorrectly rotated in the Photos app? Tapping on them to preview rotates them back, but this feels like a bug.

Otherwise I love the app and the photos that it produces. Thanks!

UPDATE - still have issues with photos being rotated wrong way in the Photos app on iOS 26, so lowering my rating.

### 1/5 — Was great. Then got greedy.

*2025-09-27, version 4.4.1*

When I originally purchased this app, it had the ability to shoot five pictures per day for free. The developer then removed that previously available feature and put it behind a paywall, a clear violation of the App Store Terms of Service.

### 3/5 — Missing one crucial feature

*2025-09-13*

When Zerocam hits, it’s the best looking anti-camera. The photos have a filmic look, which I love. But not being able to tap-to-focus makes it difficult to get keepers especially when there are different subjects in multiple planes of focus. It’s hard to compose or frame your subject when you can’t focus. Focus is such a crucial part of photography I have to give it 3 stars. When that feature is added, it’s a solid 5.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for the feedback and the kind words about the filmic look. We're a small indie team of just two people and non-5-star reviews really hurt us. Tap-to-focus isn't part of our vision: Zerocam is about shooting without distractions, keeping focus on the moment rather than fiddling with the interface. We're now on version 4.9 with tons of improvements: RAW and RAW Max shooting, Looks (curated color grades with minimal processing), frontal camera, multi-exposure shots, shooting from the lock screen with the camera control button, 10 free shots before subscribing (plus a multi-day trial on subscription), a Restore Purchase button in the paywall, and many performance fixes. Please update and give the app another chance, and consider updating your rating to 5 stars. Thank you!

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2026-05-25, version 4.9.7*

Is there any way to get past the splash screen with the logo on iPhone 17? I’m on the latest iOS version and all I can see is zerocam logo at the startup after animation completes.

### 1/5 — Amazing photo colours, but the app doesn't work

*2026-05-18*

I love that the app removes iphone's postprocessing. The photos are so good with Zerocam.

But the app is terrible and doesn't work.

I used to use it on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, it didn't save photos half of the time. It blinked when it did the photo, and then you go to the gallery and the photo is not there.

Now I have iPhone 17 Air running the latest OS. I saw there was an app update, so I gave it a chance and paid for the subscription again.

Sadly, the app still doesn't work.

You open it via s shorcut, take a photo. It shows an ugly label “Saving, keep open". Ok. I wait. And even after it sometimes the photo doesn't appear in the gallery.

On top of that when I launch the app sometimes it shows the loading screen with the logo for 3, 5, 7 seconds and nothing happens, the app doesn't load. I give up and open the regular camera app.

I'm cancelling my subscription again. This is embarrassing to try to use a camera app that you can't rely on to open and can't rely on to save the picture after you've made the shot.

**Developer response:** Good news! We have fixed that issue in the latest version of Zerocam (5.0.0), we have also brought back the lifetime purchase, because everybody was asking for it :-)

Please, consider leaving us a 5-star review, if you think we deserve it. We're a small indie team of 2 people and the App Store ratings are so important for us 💛

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-05-14, version 4.9.6*

We need new update and more setting to control our zero processing photos

### 1/5 — Great concept ruined by greed

*2026-04-26*

This app takes beautifully natural, unprocessed photos, but the mandatory subscription is a complete dealbreaker. Expecting users to rent a camera app forever instead of offering a straightforward purchase is incredibly greedy. Great idea, ruined by the pricing. The devs are probably going to respond with “we’re a small indie developer team”. Ok well you’re part of the problem. Small team or not, you are just feeding the subscription fatigue that is exhausting your users and ruining good software.

**Developer response:** Good news! ### 1/5 — Subscription-Based

*2026-04-19, version 4.9*

I understand needing to make a living but good heavens, a subscription to use my camera? Just make the app paid?

UPDATE: Thanks for the developer response. It's still a subscription-based CAMERA APP. Introduce a lifetime license and I will reconsider my rating, but surely you understand why a subscription model would be polarizing for an app that should be completely offline.

### 1/5 — Cannot take a photo without starting a subscription…

*2026-01-25, version 4.7*

I was very much excited to try out another “zero-processing” camera app to get film-like photos (much like with Halide and Project Indigo), when I went to tap on “piu piu” to take my first photo, I was immediately greeted with a screen prompting me to start a subscription (with a free trial, but a subscription nonetheless).

Deleted the app immediately.

### 1/5 — Downhill

*2025-12-30*

Loved this app until they lost their simple charm. I was paying for a regular subscription when one day they updated it and I guess added a second tier option? Every time I would open the app, as soon as I hit the shutter button an ad would pop up asking me to upgrade- I was already paying, and photo ops were lost or interrupted so they could upsell! I cancelled my subscription- SO disappointing.

**Developer response:** Good news! We have fixed that issue in the latest version of Zerocam (5.0.0), we have also brought back the lifetime purchase, because everybody was asking for it :-) Please, consider leaving us a 5-star review, if you think we deserve it. ### 1/5 — 2x is broken on iPhone Air

*2025-12-13*

Fix 2x. Also, the quality of images is lower than a standard camera app

**Developer response:** Good news! We have fixed that issue in the latest version of Zerocam (5.0.0), we have also brought back the lifetime purchase, because everybody was asking for it :-) Please, consider leaving us a 5-star review, if you think we deserve it. ### 1/5 — unusable

*2025-11-09, version 4.5.2*

what’s the point of making an app free and putting everything behind a paywall

### 1/5 — zero interface

*2025-10-19, version 4.5.1*

zero interface is actually the worst thing about this cam, I couldn't even find a folder where my photos were saved.... I also need the ability to choose the aspect ratio.... and this yellow button is a huge thief of attention, I cannot focus on the main purpose of app because of that

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-21*

Love the app and the widget too

**Developer response:** Thank you 💛

### 5/5 — Please add support for iPhone 12

*2026-07-05*

Looks really good so far from the trial but the aspect ratio is currently unusable for iPhone 12 as it has unique proportions, please fix

**Developer response:** Working on it! Thank you so much for your feedback 💛

### 5/5 — Easy for files to edit

*2026-06-15*

This makes taking pictures and getting files that have a wide editing range super easy if you like editing, this is one of the easiest workflows on a mobile phone

**Developer response:** Hey, thank you for the feedback, we really appreciate it! You can now shoot in RAW Max and 48 MP with supported lenses. Just update to version 4.3.1 😉

### 5/5 — Improvement suggestions

*2026-04-20*

UPDATE April 2026 - very happy with the changes made in version 4.9, which includes most of my suggestions above. Thanks developers!

### 5/5 — Real Mobile Photography

*2026-04-17, version 4.9*

I’ve used zerocam on my 17 pro max and on some of my older android devices like the nothing phone 2 and it’s been great. I usually take pictures with the iOS camera and zerocam and it really is a toss up a lot of times which is better. Really depends on the setting. But I’d say a good 50% of the time Zerocam does what the native app doesn’t.

### 5/5 — Could be so sooo much better.

*2026-03-27, version 4.8.1*

While i get the concept of going for a more point and shot style camera, the inability to tap to focus or a flash is a huge downer. It doesn’t even have the option to turn on a grid for when you need to frame that shoot just a little bit better. Which really sucks because the app produces some of the most beautiful, natural looking images ive ever taken on any app that takes ready to share images with no editing required but also being able to shoot in raw and proraw. However, not being able to tap to focus or having a flash has made me miss the perfect shot. The app automatically focuses on what it wants, making miss my shot and having to keep shooting until it finally gets what it wants (if what i want to shoot is not gone already). Being able to tap to focus, adding a little flash and grid icon would not take away from the simplicity of the app. I really wanted to purchase the year subscription but the lack of this simple, yet powerful little features in photography doesn’t justify the price for me:/ i would give this app 5 stars of it at very minimum had the ability to Tap to Focus. Otherwise it’ll have to stay at 2 for now :/

### 5/5 — need infinite

*2025-12-13, version 4.6.2*

I would like to purchase the ‘infinite’ mode, but it is not available. Could I get it for the Indonesian region?

### 5/5 — 2x is the best

*2025-11-15, version 4.6.0*

***update: 2x is back!!

Please please bring back the 2x zoom.
I’m a yearly subscriber and will not continue if 2x is gone as it was my most used.

### 5/5 — Best camera app

*2025-10-05, version 4.4.1*

Love it!

### 5/5 — Wonderful Camera

*2025-08-07*

Would you consider a one-time cost option? I love this app, but hate the idea of having to pay for another subscription. Thank you!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the 5 stars and the kind words! ❤️ We're a small indie team of just two people and reviews like this really keep us going. About the one-time purchase, we understand the appeal, it wasn't an easy decision to remove it, but the subscription model helps us keep the app sustainable with ongoing updates and support. We hope in the future we'll offer something that suits you better. So glad you're loving Zerocam!
