When you make an instalment payment, the amount you have repaid does not immediately return to your available credit. Instead, your credit remains tied up until the entire purchase has been fully repaid. So, even though you are making regular payments, the money you have already paid is essentially sitting there without becoming available for you to use again. Personally, I find this quite restrictive and I wish this had been made clearer before I started using Zilch. I think customers should be aware of how this works before opening an account, especially if they are used to services where their spending availability increases as they make repayments. For me, this makes Zilch much less attractive compared with other options, and I hope they reconsider this system in the future. **Developer response:** Oh no! That’s not good. Send us a message on Facebook or Instagram and we’ll look into this for you. ### 1/5 — Disputes/charge back team are rubbish stay away *2026-09-02, version 2.59.0* Stay away from zilch they keep Closing my dispute and ignoring my live chats for months speak to agents who don’t understand english! Over 400 pounds in a dispute and zilch just ignore and ignore and everyone who picks up can’t see anything you’ve spoke to the previous agent I’d stay away rubbish! ### 1/5 — New layout is terrible *2026-08-30, version 2.59.0* I’ve been using Zilch for sometime now. The new layout is terrible once inside the app. You used to be able to easily view what was due when. In what day and not by date. You can no longer see the days they are due and now only by date…… It is in list form now by date as opposed to the opposite. Much harder to use and control payments or forward paying. Do not like the new update or layout. It’s terrible. No longer user friendly in my opinion. Much harder to see what is due by day. Which in my opinion was far better…. Sorry zilch. Have never applied. Trying to contact zilch is impossible as have to log into app - tricky as never set it up in the first place…. Contact options all depend on app so completely unclear where this leaves me - is someone setting up account in my name?? ### 1/5 — DO NOT RECOMMEND *2026-08-04, version 2.57.0* Very disappointed by Zilch’s customer service and dispute process, please be warned, Zilch does not protect your finances I used Zilch to pay for trainers sold as legitimate however they have arrived and are clearly counterfeit. Despite providing clear evidence including from the brand, Zilch will not progress a chargeback without an ‘independent third-party verification’ which obviously is impossible to obtain without paying (defeating the purpose of claiming the money back). This is an unrealistic requirement when evidence of them being counterfeit has already been provided per the brands own policy (a working QR code which the shoes DO NOT HAVE) and is clearly not a fair investigation process. I won’t be using Zilch any longer, your money is not safe. ### 1/5 — Terrible Customer Service *2026-07-27, version 2.56.0* When the app works it’s fantastic, however sometimes it just spontaneously declines transactions.
