But then the money was taken out of my account both times. I was trying to do this before my flight and had to just wait until I got I got the country and sort something out then. I was automatically referred to a chatbot that just didn’t respond and then closed the chat. Several hours later I then got an email saying the eSIMs came through after they said there was an error, I have emailed them as per their refund policy and haven’t heard anything back but will update IF I ever do . Really disappointing as this was my go to eSIM app bu ### 4/5 — Support to be improved *2024-08-02* As long as it works it is ok, but when it doesn’t , the chat support is not good. It closed very quick so you need to keep watch . ### 3/5 — Slow connections *2024-05-23* I do appreciate how well this app works short term, Unfortunately though, I do tend to use a lot of mobile data for various things, so at a certain point the speed is severely slowed down. Downgrading the speed of internet to 512 kbps is makes unlimited plans highly not worth it as opposed to other esim providers who don't throttle connections. The 1gb and 5gb plans and all all work very well though, it kind of depends what you are seeking for internet. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. But for some reason the last 2 or 3 times the QR code never works. I have to enter the activation code manually. Inconvenient and it gives me anxiety. It gives me a “no valid data found” error when scanning QR code. Also. Sometimes I have several hours after purchase to activate. Even though the app says it is ready. This also makes me feel like there is a problem Thankfully it has eventually worked out each time, but it’s unreliable/inconsistent to the extent that i may try another app. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback and for being a loyal user of ZIM! Really good value and could buy in advance then activate it when I needed it. I had great signal (better than my friends who’d bought physical sims in store at home) which meant we could navigate where we needed even in (most of) the middle of nowhere! Biggest issue I have right now is the sillyness & inconvenience of buying an esim on my phone which I then receive a QR code for that I need to scan on a different device to add the Esim. During my recent trip to Pakistan, my e-sim with ZIM allowed me to stay in contact with my family and friends and share content from my trip on my social media. Would 100% recommend! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unfortunate problems, deteriorated service *2025-08-01, version 4.0.6* Made purchases in 2024 with no problems. However 2025 July, I had problems purchasing a new eSIM, it was cancelled twice because of local operator issues. Also activation of eSIM wasn’t so smooth, had to restart device, manually select the operator so on. And now trying to top up the eSIM and getting errors again. It’s a shame the service deteriorated since last year dramatically. Also the data speed struggles, WTR is provider and so slow generally where there should not be a speed limit I was told, my partner through other provider 1Global using the same local network Turk Telecom has no issues next to me. At least the support team is trying to help and solve the problems but would be great if they solved these issues and made things easier, smoother and more reliable. ### 1/5 — Latest version 4.0.2 crashed *2025-06-11, version 4.0.2* I just install the latest version 4.0.2 of n an IPhone (IOS 18.5) and the app open and close immediately ### 1/5 — Data scam *2025-02-19, version 3.3.1* I just landed in Turkey and only used Google Maps to navigate to my resort, yet somehow, I’ve already used 2GB out of my 20GB allowance. This makes no sense! Back in the UK, I stream movies and series regularly, use tons of data, and never go over 30GB in a whole month. Something about ZIM eSIM’s data tracking feels completely off. If you’re considering using this service, think twice it doesn’t add up, and you might burn through your data way faster than expected. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. ### 1/5 — Stopped working *2025-01-24, version 3.2.8* My India plan worked for 3 days then stopped. The only way to contact ZIM is through their chat with very long waits for each reply and requiring WiFi. I’ve ended up getting a new sim with Yo which works fine. ### 1/5 — Great when it works and eSIM is not removed *2024-12-23, version 3.2.8* Don’t buy in advance when there are special offers - the eSIm often disappears from my account wallet before I come to use it. Support is patchy - it was good but now I don’t get responses to emails and chats are closed without contact with myself. However when you use “ In Country “ the sim works well and speeds are good ( I’ve used all over Europe and US) after a short settling in period where the link is 4G then moves to 5G. Setting to “automatic “ goes not always give the best local provider - play around with this setting to pick the best local provider ### 1/5 — Fake Unlimited *2024-11-11* Die Unlimited Pakete sind nicht zu gebrauchen da sie gedrosselt werden und es wird nirgends erwähnt.
