### 2/5 — Not good

*2019-01-31, version 1.5.5*

Ordered the whole house pack. App is difficult to navigate. Trying to update the firmware on 5 lights takes a very long time and still the lights do not function properly. For the price I’ll just plug back in my other back up, motion activated lights and return these. Needs lots of work!

### 3/5 — I’ve just started evaluating my Zings

*2018-12-15, version 1.5.4*

I was a Kickstarter Backer; I received three Zings that I signed up for.
They aren’t frauds: they function as motion-sensing nightlights and power-outage beacons and (when the internal battery is charged) independent, mobile, in-case-of-emergency light sources.
I haven’t connected the individual one or the network, or configured through Bluetooth, but I’ll check back when I do.

### 2/5 — Does not keep settings!!

*2018-12-08, version 1.5.4*

This light resets itself especially the motion sensor turning on by itself and also the app says in range and connected but does not respond to turn it off and its frustrating to unplug it to turn this “smart light”!

### 3/5 — So far so good BUT do we have a guide for optimal settings?

*2018-12-04, version 1.5.4*

Hey team. Is there a YouTube out there for optimal settings so I know how to properly set these up?

For instance only to turn on when motion between certain hours??

Thanks!

### 2/5 — Has Potential

*2018-11-12, version 1.5.3*

The lights are bright and the internal features (colors, temperature, etc.) seem to work well but the app is as close to useless as possible. Nothing is straightforward and the lights frequently disconnect from the app. I went in for the three pack and hope to soon have an app that allows me to effectively manage the smart features inside this light.

### 1/5 — Horrid

*2018-10-27, version 1.5.3*

This app has no real setup support. Very lacking on how to setup. Unable to add a button preset at all and there is no support . Website has a few silent videos which are not useful. I really can’t get the lights to do anything I want to since the app is so bad. Emailed with questions no answer. I want to return this.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Almost useless

*2022-03-23, version 2.0.1*

Cannot login/register/reset password to an account within the app. Cannot connect the lights to Wi-Fi or “Zing Cloud”. I have had these lights since crowdfunding and they STILL don’t live up to the promises made then. Idk if it’s because of the app or the actual zing software. The website is barebones and the support pages have about 6 total help articles.

### 1/5 — App

*2020-03-18, version 2.0.1*

App locked in on an email I removed and now will not let me add a new email address

### 1/5 — Lots of promise but doesn’t deliver

*2020-01-10, version 2.0.1*

Buggy app and not terribly intuitive. Light has a lot of functionality, but app doesn’t tap it. One huge bug in the app is that if you set up scheduling to have the light turn on and off at predefined times, one cannot set a custom color. One must use a preset and they are awe full if all you want is a nightlight.

Another big problem is the motion sensor of the light. It only works when you’re right in front of it. We are trying to use the light in a stairway where you approach the light from the side. The light doesn’t light up, however, making it useless as a night motion light as it doesn’t activate until you’re already down the stairs and in front of the light.

Lots of promise but doesn’t deliver.

### 1/5 — Worst app

*2019-07-03, version 2.0.0*

Always lose connection to the light and constantly fail on firmware update which bricks the device.

### 1/5 — Useless App

*2019-02-22, version 1.5.7*

Wow. The reviews don’t lie. This app is utterly useless. It worked for a few minutes, but I’m now stuck on the home screen like other reviewers I’ve read. When I tap on the light icon, it just vibrates like it’s shaking its smug blue head at me.

A couple of observations I made before I got totally stuck: While it’s possible to set several preset lighting schemes, there seems to be no way to actually SELECT the presets once they’re set. Clicking on them only lets you edit them again. So I don’t really know what the point is.

The product itself seems nice. Good colors and light output, although it does seem to make an annoying scratching/hissing noise in certain lighting conditions. I got the product for free because of a professional connection I have, so I can’t complain too much. Would definitely not buy, though, until this app is sorted out.

### 1/5 — MANY promises, FEW Truths

*2019-01-08, version 1.5.4*

I should not be able to buy this at Home Depot when so many Kickstarter Backers have received nothing (except stupid excuses.)

Further, the model at Home Depot has no USB C port, no Alexa or Google Home integration (that lie is printed directly on the box) and there are NO motion notifications, NO Bluetooth device finding ability, NO notifications for calls, texts or emails (which are ALL in their terrible app!)

Why are they expending ANY effort to get a different (garbage!) model in stores when many of the people who backed this and paid to make it happen have received nothing but infuriating excuses?

This thing is a pathetic, expensive scam.

### 1/5 — Zing night light is a scam buyer beware

*2018-12-11, version 1.5.4*

Hi

Do not purchase the zing night lights as you will never receive the product. They have conducted a kickstarter and indi campaign and have refused to fulfill orders to the backers of the project. They have also refused to provide any update or reply to anyone on these platforms. See for yourself by checking out their campaign pages. All they did was fulfill a few users and then ran off.

### 1/5 — Refund needed

*2018-12-10, version 1.5.4*

Hi,
I just received my 6 zing device and I need a refund. The product/app does not hold any of my pre-set and I have to reset it every day. The product is not any different from a $5 night light if none of the functions is saved.

### 1/5 — Stuck in Home Screen

*2018-12-10, version 1.5.4*

No matter what I do I can’t get out of the home screen. My lights are listed, but selecting them or touching them doesn’t do anything. I can’t get to the screens to make any adjustments to their color, brightness, schedule, or anything else. This app makes no sense to me at all. I’m really frustrated.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2018-10-31, version 1.5.3*

Nothing to set up but none of the settings you make will stick either. It just does what it wants. Now I can’t even make any change anymore. I cannot select the unit to make changes. Only if I could return this piece of junk.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Loving this night light would be an understatement

*2023-12-17, version 2.0.1*

I now have six zing nightlight, and I love them! They are the best, there is nothing that even comes close to being as great a nightlight as these are.
I love all the features, different lighting effects & connectivity.
Truly a great device!

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2022-05-04, version 2.0.1*

This is the best smart night light! I wish you would make more. I only bought 2 :( hopefully you’ll come back again.

### 5/5 — Great gift!

*2019-12-05, version 2.0.1*

Very cool nightlight and features. Even has a sleep feature. Endless colors to choose from and great for power outages. App is a little buggy but the firmware is kept updated with improvements.

### 5/5 — Fun.

*2019-05-14, version 1.6.1*

Cool technology and functional too! Occasionally things are better than promised and this is one of those things! I wish I had thought of this!

### 5/5 — Zing is awesome

*2019-04-05, version 1.6.0*

I’ve been a backer from the start up. Zing has progressed a long way. By far the best intuitive night light. Love em.

### 5/5 — Zing is the best AI IoT nightlight available!

*2019-03-21, version 1.5.7*

(I don’t understand any negative comments as this Zing app and Zing AI IoT nightlights works perfectly!) I even use it as my alarm in my house. I had a repair person come to the house when I wasn’t there and the app notified me. That was awesome. And the actual product also works great. It is so colorful and can be set in so many different patterns and brightness levels. I have 4 Zings and they literally know where I’m walking and light up my path before I get there! They really use AI (Artificial Intelligence).

### 5/5 — The best night light ever

*2019-03-02, version 1.5.7*

Yes it is

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2019-10-02, version 2.0.1*

I’m not sure the blue light reduction reduces the color temperature; it just removes the blues. Could you please update to have f.lux-like color temperature reduction? Preferably all the way down to <2000K.

### 4/5 — It simply works

*2019-04-15, version 1.6.0*

Easy to use. It works. I like using the motion sensor. The schedule works very well. I wish it worked with Alexa. Love all the color choices.

### 3/5 — Google Assistant integration

*2020-08-13*

Where's the integration to Alexa and Google?
