## What is Zisty?

Zisty is a private messenger for people who already know each other.

• End-to-end encrypted: every message is encrypted before it leaves your phone; the server relays ciphertext it cannot read. One-to-one chats add quantum-resistant encryption on top.
• Direct when nearby: two phones close to each other talk over Bluetooth and peer-to-peer Wi‑Fi, through no server at all.
• No sign-up: no phone number, no account. Your identity is a key pair that lives on your phone.
• Friends, one by one: scan each other's code in person, send an invite link, or have a friend introduce you. Your address book is never read.
• Messages delete themselves: each chat sets its own retention, from burn-after-reading to 9 hours, counted from the moment a message is seen; unseen messages stay on the server for 5 days at most.
• Voice and video calls: end-to-end encrypted, direct when nearby, and you can answer from the Lock Screen.
• Moments: share photos and videos with the friends you choose; they disappear after 1 to 9 days.
• Bulletin board and moods: see how your friends are doing at a glance on the Home page, with the weather.
• Vault: a separately encrypted space for the pictures, videos and files you want to keep.
• Groups, voice messages (transcribed on your phone), Live Photos, videos, files and locations.
• Recovery Kit and phone moves: a password-protected file brings back your identity and friends; moving to a new phone takes everything along.
• App Lock: keep your chats behind Face ID.

Zisty has no ads, never reads your address book and builds no profile of you. Photos lose their location data before they are sent, and there are no third-party analytics.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 5.5.7 — 2026-10-27

• Nothing left behind: photos and videos that arrived while your phone was locked are there the moment you return.
• Smoother sending: photos sent while a large video uploads no longer wait in line; they arrive in a second or two.
• Smarter routes: when one path slows, downloads move to the faster one without disturbing the rest, and messages that piled up arrive sooner once you are back online.
• Steadier history: reading back up a chat, you stay where you are; at the bottom, new messages simply appear.
• Steadier calls: the sound barely skips when your phone switches networks, a shaky network no longer drops the call while it switches routes, sound comes back by itself after the system interrupts it, and you hear all three beeps when the other person hangs up.
• Expired messages clear away without a stutter, and files that have expired or been deleted are no longer downloaded again and again.

### 5.5 — 2026-10-25

• HDR, everywhere: photos and videos in chats and Moments open full screen in true HDR — luminous highlights, rich shadows, colour closer to what you saw. Sent compressed, they keep their HDR, so your friend sees the same light.
• The chat camera shoots in HDR, photos and video alike.
• Live Photos show in HDR too, flowing naturally into playback and back.
• Lighter and faster: HDR videos are much smaller; photos from your library get ready the moment you pick them and upload as soon as you tap Send; when the network falters, downloads find a smoother route on their own.
• Half-written messages, mentions included, wait for you when you return to a chat.
• A smoother home screen, and on iPhone Duo the full-screen controls are easier to reach when it is closed.

### 5.3 — 2026-10-24

• Sharper photos from the chat camera: 12 MP, macro switches on by itself for close subjects, and the viewfinder shows the whole frame.
• Photos from the camera can be sent as originals too.
• Faster sending: the camera gets a shot ready while you review it, so it starts uploading the moment you tap Send; small pictures take the faster route and no longer wait behind a video.
• iPhone Duo: photos and videos open centred on the outer display, the two columns line up when the phone is open sideways, and posting to the bulletin board works smoothly.
• Fixed: "Delete account" in Me did nothing.
• Fixed: with only the weather on the home bulletin board, the board sat higher than with a bulletin.

### 5.2.1 — 2026-10-24

• Faster video uploads: the faster route is picked automatically, and a part that gets stuck is re-sent another way. The upload progress now shows what your friend can already download.
• Recall is more reliable: whether the video is still being prepared, uploading, or your friend is downloading it, once recalled it never reaches them.
• Incoming calls still alert you while a Focus is on.
• A video's preview and its cover now show the same frame.
• Fixed: a GIF you had just sent could show as a grey square.
• Diagnostic logs can be uploaded without a note.

### 5.1 — 2026-10-23

• HDR in Moments: HDR photos and videos show in HDR when opened full screen.
• Videos in Moments can be up to 30 seconds long.
• Calls connect more reliably when the other phone has only just woken up.
• iPhone Duo: when half open, calls split into two halves, so you can stand the phone on a table and talk hands-free.
• Better battery life: the app goes back to sleep sooner after a message arrives, and stale Bluetooth connections are no longer kept.
