### 3/5 — Ok

*2026-09-02, version 2.2.23*

I wish i had the blood sugar response we had in the old version

### 4/5 — Smart app

*2026-08-25, version 2.2.22*

Just submit a picture of your breakfast and it knows the nutrition, just edit the details a little- not much hassle 👍

### 1/5 — Better than nothing; but there’s so much better out there

*2026-08-22, version 2.2.21*

AI ruins the accuracy. The ability to edit for AI mistakes is impossible. I am 16 emails deep and have barely gotten out of the AI unhelpful “please see our FAQs” responses just to change ONE inaccurate food. I’ve only been using the app for a few days but I’ve found 7 plants that don’t register as plants in your weekly count and I can’t change them.

The food “scores” are arbitrary and opaque. The same food can have a variation of a score of 40 to 90 with no explanation.

The recommended “substitutions” are flawed and inaccurate. One time it told me to substitute the wet version of a pasta for the dry version of the pasta and apparently that would increase the food score by 20 points?? I’m sorry, so don’t cook my pasta to make it healthier? The Italians would like a word…

If what you want is the lowest effort possible, this is good because you can just take a photo and will give you info. But will it be good info? Eh. Doubtful. It will literally hallucinate nutrition. Cannot even effectively track macros.

I also think it’s funny that my first 3 (of 16 so far!!) emails were respond to by AI and they still took over a day to get back to me. Is the delay to make it appear more human? Gross.

### 2/5 — Some good, mostly bsd

*2026-08-19, version 2.2.21*

The app has a lot of inaccuracies. For example, it will scan a single serving meal as 5000 calories instead of 400. This has happened multiple times. I tried contacting support, they kept giving me the runaround, asking me to send multiple barcodes and examples when all they have to do is take the product information and investigate themselves. Lazy, inaccurate, not worth the money.

### 4/5 — AI Misinterpretation & Gaps In App Logic

*2026-08-11, version 2.2.20*

The responsiveness and speed of the app is great, however after coming back to the app after a while it seems like there’s some large gaps in its logic as well as the scanning AI producing odd results.

Scanning recipe cards from providers such as Mindful Chef or Gusto produce sporadic and incorrect results when interpreted by the AI, sometimes it’s close but most of the time it’s quite far off in terms of the calories and macros. Multiple attempts of the same scan produce different results each time. The only way to tally the macros is to manually manipulate the ingredients until it kind of matches - it would be much quicker to just be able to manually edit the macros before committing.

Additionally trying to quickly log previously scanned foods is not easy to do as ingredients are wrapped up inside meals in the Recent list. Any ingredient should be able to be easily searchable and recalled so it can be used again and again whenever needed without needing to rescan it or having to favourite each individual item.

A few tweaks could make logging so much better and quicker.

### 3/5 — Letting themselves down by pushing products

*2026-08-11, version 2.2.20*

I think Zoe is contributing a lot to our diets. The scientific information about diet is second to none and the company is contributing a lot to research. They are lending their credentials in the scientific community to put across what seems like a valuable nutritional programme which I have bought into.

However I think they are letting themselves down by now pushing products like a subscription for 30 plus sprinkles and now a new bar. They are using some of the worst internet marketing methods to push these products at us at every end and turn. For me this undermines their scientific integrity. Stop it guys.

### 2/5 — Paid and unable to use

*2026-08-10, version 2.2.20*

I’m a Zoe investor and like to use the products on offer to customers. I signed up for a trial, on a rolling contract, paid my first weeks subscription and that’s as far as I’ve got. I’m unable to log into the app, with the same credentials as I use to log into the website from where I purchased the plan and manage my Zoe customer account. Further to this technical support has been poor, I’m still waiting, 5 days on for contact.

### 4/5 — Beef patty

*2026-08-08, version 2.2.20*

Should read Lamb Steak didn’t know how to change it.
What happened to my Lunch? Fetta and veggies?spinach, lemon Juice tomato?
I also have to be careful of seeds, as I have Diverticulitis flare ups.

### 2/5 — Extremely tedious to log food, lacking compared to other tracking apps, and over gamified.

*2026-08-07, version 2.2.20*

The knowledge base is great, but the app is severely lacking in multiple areas.

Compared to other food logging apps in the field, such as Cronometer, this app pales in regard to logging your data.

The process of saving meals, foods, and finding them again is tedious.

The search function for your saved foods does not work.

The UI is sluggish and has too much emphasis on gamifying the process.

Logging your diet is a chore with this app, and I imagine a lot will simply give up due to the frustration of it.

After one week of tracking I won’t be logging any more data.

### 1/5 — Old app was great. Don’t waste your money on this one.

*2026-08-07, version 2.2.20*

I resubscribed to Zoe and am
now locked in for a year to an app that provides very little that’s helpful.

### 1/5 — Gaps and bugs

*2026-08-06, version 2.2.20*

Great when it works but frustrating bugs where ingredients are not added and you have to re-do multiple times. Sadly, too, Zoe does not highlight sodium content so I won’t renew my membership as this is a huge gap. The gamification is annoying, I feel like I’m being treated as a child.

### 1/5 — Goodbye After 3 Years

*2026-08-06, version 2.2.20*

If you are just starting your health journey, and are going to use the company’s testing to determine health markers such as gut microbiome and blood sugar reactivity, then I would still recommend this app.

I did that three years ago, and have religiously used this app since then.

Unfortunately, the new update that happened in July completely changed the structure of the app. All of the features that I was using as a dedicated member are now gone. I cannot upload my own recipes and modify them with ingredients that work for me. I can no longer track my fasting window or the percentage of macros. I can no longer see what percentage of calories each week are coming from processed foods or unhealthy fats. I can’t meal plan and make a grocery list. Instead, I’m getting the video lessons that I did when the app started three years ago in some gamified format.

I will always be grateful for the initial insights I gained through Zoe, but the app redesign was like putting the training wheels back on a bike I learned to ride years ago. Maybe if the wonderful features returned, it’d be worth the subscription.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work well anymore

*2026-08-05, version 2.2.20*

This app used to work fine, but all of a sudden when I try to type an item in when editing a meal The screen jumps up and all the spots where you type in the food and the amount disappears and you only see the “save changes” bar. It’s super annoying. And today another thing started happening. When I try to edit a food. And I am able to type something and either won’t type or when I click on a food everything. What is going on?

### 1/5 — Zoe Founders—Please READ reviews since APP updates

*2026-08-04, version 2.2.20*

Loved previous “classic” Zoe App. New updates, including a gamified jumping bean, a cumbersome and frustrating. While grocery shopping, scanning product barcodes and make informed choices based on my gut test results used to be easy. Simple swaps. No longer without adding to daily log. The original app recipe creation was amazing.

Please read reviews since app updates. I’m not the only dedicated Zoe follower that’s extremely frustrated.

### 1/5 — Hate the new app

*2026-08-03, version 2.2.20*

I do not need a stupid cartoon character to motivate me. I have been genuinely interested in and committed to the science of the microbiome since I did the Zoe test kit and find this infantilising, patronising and genuinely off-putting. I updated the app looking for a new recipe idea - I now cannot get out of this ridiculous Ziggy thing trying to get me to log a meal. I just paid £25 Zoe membership - for this????

### 1/5 — Unusable and demeaning interface

*2026-07-29, version 2.2.19*

I was a Zoe member and advocate for several years and found the app motivating, clear and helpful. I recommended it to about a dozen of my friends and even bought a couple of people memberships because I thought it was so good. That is until the recent update. Now I can’t even log a snack without being lectured by a dancing bean about mindful eating. The screen is cluttered with non-optional bean-journey maps I am not interested in that can not be dismissed. Instead of being able to see the impact of an ingredient on a meal or a meal on a day, I just get random numbers of beans flying across the screen. I am locked into paying for a two year contract for an app that is no longer useable. For the sake of future users, I hope the developers at Zoe will rethink their approach. I’ll be deleting the app evening though I’ll still be paying for it well into next year. Buyer beware.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-27, version 2.2.22*

Think Zoe is just about money grabbing

### 1/5 — Terrible!

*2026-08-26, version 2.2.22*

I joined today and I can’t use the app. Every time I get partway through the initial questions it crashes. I have deleted it and re downloaded it a few times. Switched my device off etc and it’s still doing it. Basically a waste of time and money. Really disappointed.

I get so far through the app and it crashes and disappears

### 1/5 — App crashes

*2026-08-26, version 2.2.22*

I just signed up for a year of Zoe and a Gut Health Test. After installing the app on my iPhone it keeps crashing towards the end of the initial setup quiz. I’ve tried deleting it and reinstalling, but no joy. Disappointing!

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-08-26, version 2.2.22*

I’ve only just joined Zoe & regretting it. This app is useless, it crashes every time I try to input details; I can’t get past the BP question. Please let me know how to proceed, alternatively cancel my membership and provide a FULL refund

### 1/5 — The app keeps crashing

*2026-08-25, version 2.2.22*

Just paid for a subscription but can’t even fully set up my profile on the app as it keeps crashing. I’ve reinstalled it multiple times and still no luck so I give up.

### 1/5 — Rubbish app

*2026-08-25, version 2.2.22*

Downloaded app and paid subscription for 7 day trial. On two devices, all up to date, and app keeps crashing during initial questioning. 8 times now! Just be an automated AI response. Very poor show. Will now demand refund. Beetr of with calorie counter app. That works!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Mindful eating!

*2026-08-22, version 2.2.21*

Zoe has helped me eat more mindful. I’ve always eaten fairly healthy, but with the easy swaps Zoe suggests, I’ve been able to up my healthy eating game. The accountability piece is helpful too!

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-08-09, version 2.2.20*

### 5/5 — Best part of my day Heath wise

*2026-08-04, version 2.2.20*

So glad I stumbled across the Zoe podcast in 2023. I got the gut health test and and the app. This new and improved app makes mindful eating a breeze! And I feel better because I’m eating better.

### 5/5 — Works very very well

*2026-08-04, version 2.2.20*

Says exactly what it does very helpful and great information on different foods.

I’m assuming Sometimes products may have changed which makes scans of foods a couple grams off but this isn’t a major issue at all.

### 5/5 — Accountability

*2026-07-22, version 2.2.16*

To be accountable and supported in my new journey to better and more consistent gut health is a great support. I’m still missing out the odd unhealthy snack but honesty is prevailing and it’s helping me to make the right choices in each passing craving thank you to whoever put this together

### 5/5 — Loved Zoe

*2026-07-12, version 2.2.13*

I really like Zoe to track my calories, protein etc because I have a rather serious illness. But, at the moment the App isn’t letting me add ingredients, swap ingredients like butternut squash to mango etc. Need tech support, but the app isn’t letting me do anything much at all!
Yes, I have downloaded the newest version from the App Store.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-07-11, version 2.2.13*

I’m so glad I signed up. The Zoe app is helping to change me relationship with food and I am learning so much about gut health and the impact on overall health. The app is so easy to use and also has lots of great recipes.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-07-09, version 2.2.12*

I’m a GP. Zoe has helped me personally but it’s so good that I’m recommending it to many of my patients.

### 5/5 — Greta improvement

*2026-07-02, version 2.2.10*

I love the update, everything makes more sense now. I was guessing why I was getting what scores before but now I’m learning a lot as we go!

### 5/5 — Just what I needed!

*2026-06-30, version 2.2.10*

Don’t want an app that forces me to follow a strict diet. Instead this app analyses the food I currently eat and makes small suggestions on how to improve it!
