### 4/5 — Doesn’t send all exercise to Strava

*2026-08-10, version 4.2.2*

I am enjoying the app but cannot get it to write my indoor treadmill or indoor exercise Bicycle to write to Strava

### 2/5 — Widget usually shows old data

*2026-05-09, version 4.0.6*

The main reason I tried this app was to show the number of minutes of zone 2 so far this week. The app does do that in principle , but it’s more-or-less unusable for that purpose in practice because it usually shows old data that doesn’t include the latest workouts, for example.

Sometimes you can cause the widget to update by opening the app. But I’m always left wondering if the widget I’m looking at is showing wrong data.

### 2/5 — What I’ve Been Looking For

*2025-03-11, version 2.7.6*

Accuracy and an app that runs in the background. Only issue is the calculation does zones based on HRR, not percentage of max HR

### 5/5 — Previous issue fixed

*2025-03-07, version 2.7.6*

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-03-05, version 2.7.4*

Great for tracking zone 2 over time. I had an idea for a new feature and emailed Shannon. She responded promptly and had it implemented in a few days, amazing!

### 5/5 — Update not working.

*2025-03-05, version 2.7.4*

Generally love this app. But my wife just updated it on 3/5/25 and it won’t open. She has an iPhone 16 and the latest iOS. The app gets stuck in the load screen. My update seems to work. Could use some feedback.

### 3/5 — Keeps prompting for a review

*2025-02-19, version 2.7.2*

Might be a good app, but it constantly prompts for a review.

### 5/5 — Excellent!!

*2025-02-07, version 2.7.1*

This is a great little app for doing Zone training and tracking. I had been looking for something to help me with Zone 2 training and ran across Z2 - it is perfect . It is simple and easy to use and connects to my heart rate monitor easily every time. It helps to keep you in the “Zone “ and keeps track of your daily and weekly minutes spent in Zone 2 (or other zones). This is a very useful app and the developer is great at implementing suggestions.

### 5/5 — Great app and great developer

*2025-02-06, version 2.7*

I love this app. After reviewing all the zone2 apps available. This app is heads and tails better in terms of functionality and ease of use.

I discovered a problem with the mirroring to iPhone in the 2.7 release and Shannon had it fixed within a couple hours.

She is the gold standard for how great developers support their products!!!

### 5/5 — Intuitive

*2024-12-06*

If you are interested in monitoring your zones during your workouts this app is the one. Standard or custom HR zones, compatible with most HR monitors, sync w/ Apple health. My fav part is the large easy to read display.

### 5/5 — THE SECRET…

*2024-12-03, version 2.6.2*

The Guru of Longevity, Dr. Peter Attia has approved the Zone 2 training as the magical ingredient that needs to be added to your commonsensical diet! Together, that “potion” will help you drop off those unbearable pounds you carry around every single day!
The app’s interface is so polished- you will need the sunglasses 😎 to navigate!!!
Seamlessly connecting to the heart rate monitor, infinitely customizable, and enhanced by the Best App Support that responds to ALL inquiries, even on the weekends- this app is a clear the Winner 🥇 in the category!!!
To the Developer:
Outstanding!! Bravo!!!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2024-11-30, version 2.6.2*

This is a fantastic app!! It took my understanding of how well I am actually working out to a while new level and works seamlessly with my Apple workouts. I love being able to see that I can get Zone 2 training and above done even without running all the time. What would make it even better is if you could enter more specific workouts to track other than the categories that are provided and also get totals for all zone training over different time periods.

### 5/5 — Impressed

*2024-11-13, version 2.5.10*

Just started using Z2. It is exactly what i needed to stay focused on my zone 2 goal. It is simple, focused perfectly on tracking zone 2, great in-workout high low alerts. Simple interface, easy to use, multiple time frame views. Dont change it!

### 5/5 — Works AS Described

*2024-11-05, version 2.5.8*

This is a great app. I love the zone tracking and the notification when I move from zone to zone

### 4/5 — Great app!

*2024-10-27*

This is a great app. What would make it even better is if you could enter more specific workouts to track other than the categories that are provided.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not transparent

*2026-08-16, version 4.2.4*

I am really tired of having apps that you go to the trouble of setting up and then you hit a paywall of an unknown amount even. It's exhausting.

### 1/5 — Watch disconnects constantly while working out

*2025-03-03, version 2.7.3*

The whole point of the app is to track Apple Watch zones but it keeps disconnecting

### 1/5 — Barely worked at all

*2024-12-01, version 2.6.2*

My watch lost connection 95% of the time, and the functionality really isn’t worth it. Found an app that does a better job for less than half the price

### 1/5 — Won’t go landscape landscape

*2024-11-23, version 2.6.1*

When I turn my phone landscape (as it sits better on the treadmill that way) this app flicks to landscape for a second and then annoyingly back to portrait mode. Also you can’t turn off the goal for Z2, I just want to use it live when on the treadmill.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2024-10-02, version 2.5.7*

Loses tracking halfway through a workout.

### 1/5 — misleading

*2024-05-22*

charged me $10 instead of $4.99

### 1/5 — App just crashes

*2024-04-21, version 2.5*

App just crashes on iPhone 11pro running iOS 17.4.1.

### 1/5 — Constantly disconnects from HR monitor

*2024-04-21, version 2.5*

Constantly disconnects from Polar HR monitor and will randomly connect to other blue tooth devices and apps. Then will not reconnect.

### 1/5 — Need Apple Fitness Subscription to use

*2024-04-16*

Looked good but you
Need to subscribe to Apple Fitness for this to work. Rip off

### 1/5 — Duped

*2023-11-12*

I felt duped by the $1.99 price. It charges you the full annual cost of $1.99/month FOR A YEAR. Was there something I missed?

**Developer response:** Hello, this is a paid app so you only pay once to download it. No reoccurring costs. I think you might have this app confused with another one?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Good App

*2025-12-11, version 4.0.2*

I am new to Zone 2 training for Weight Loss but I am finding the app very beneficial. It’s hard for me to log into Zone 2 on a elliptical machine. Some sort of graph that tracks. My history might help me hit this sound better, but this product is pushing me in the right direction.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2025-08-25, version 3.3.5*

This app does exactly what I need! Shows you what zone you are in during a workout, tracks cumulative time in your species zone (2 for me), and tracks weekly time in zone. I am aiming for 150 minutes and this app keeps me on track

### 5/5 — Simple way to track zone 2 over time

*2025-07-08, version 3.2.5*

Exactly what I’ve been looking for. I can set a target for the week of zone 2 and 5 and can keep track.

Can check straight after workouts to see if I need to spend some extra time in zone 2

The live Work out with current zone on your phone is great for cycling.

### 5/5 — Great app for zone specific training

*2025-06-16, version 3.2.3*

Very happy with the app, and very impressed by the developer. The app does exactly what it says, allows you to track how long you’ve been training in a specific zone. I suggested to the developer that a landscape orientation would be useful for rowers / Concept2 users. Very soon after, this feature was included in the app. Now it’s perfect - for me, anyway!

### 5/5 — Excellent app & support

*2025-06-08, version 3.2.2*

I love the app. Straightforward and perfect for tracking cardio workouts without the extraneous nonsense that so many fitness apps overcharged for. Shannon provides outstanding support, too. If you want to track cardio workouts by time spent in customizable heart-rate zones, this is a terrific choice.

### 5/5 — Visibility = Consistency Love this app!

*2025-06-01, version 3.2.2*

This app has been extremely helpful by providing excellent visibility of my Zone 2 status! I use it regularly on home cardio equipment.

### 5/5 — Intuitive

*2025-05-30, version 3.2.2*

If you are interested in monitoring your zones during your workouts this app is the one. Standard or custom HR zones, compatible with most HR monitors, sync w/ Apple health. My fav part is the large easy to read display.

### 5/5 — Please Show Calories Burn

*2025-05-08, version 3.1*

Please Show Calories Burn

### 5/5 — Simple zone 2 training tool

*2025-05-04, version 3.0.7*

This is a simple app to assist with zone 2 training. Recommend strongly.

I follow Peter Attia and he is big on zone 2 training. Zone 2 training improves metabolic health. I wanted a HR system that would alert me when I was above or below the zone 2 range and at the same time would allow me to listen to a podcast. Anything above this is more than I wanted. Keep it simple. Found this combo with the zone 2 app and a $50 Garmin Dual HR strap.
