It initially gave me an error stating it could not connect. Please connect to Sonos on your iPhone first. I corrected the error by going into settings on the iPhone for the ZonePlay app and turning off Netwerk access and cellular access. I then killed the app on the watch and then re-enabled Netwerk access on the phone. This fix the issue. Overall app is pretty good. ### 2/5 — Works BUT… *2021-12-11, version 2.0.6* Works but will not stay open on iWatch like Apple Music does. Having to dig through the watch apps every time you want to control the music is definitely NOT ideal. ### 2/5 — Frustrated how long the Watch app is taking *2019-03-03, version 1.8.3* I understand that it’s probably not at all trivial to rewrite a Watch app, and maybe changes to WatchOS necessitated that, but I was only using the app for its Watch app, so going on half a year without that feature, it’s a little frustrating, and I have to give up, I think. ### 3/5 — Was functioning better than Sonobit now disappeared *2018-09-16, version 1.8.3* I have Sonos beam, sub, and two amps all connected to my wireless system. I have speakers out at my pool. I found this app and sonobit to control my Sonos at the pool. This ZonePlay worked much better. But now something has happened and it is no longer on the Apple Watch. Only on the phone. Very disappointed. I would give a solid 4 for being a third party controlling something like Sonos. I would give higher if I could actually use it. I’ll give a 3 for now until it’s fixed. I’ll come back and give a 5 when I can use it again. ### 3/5 — Does not work with VPN *2017-05-30, version 1.7.0* I use a VPN on my phone. When the VPN is enabled the ZonePlayer CANNOT find any Sonos speakers on your network. If your ok with compromising your security then the app/iWatch support is 4 star. If this were fixed a few more features would make this a 5. ### 2/5 — iWatch Features *2017-03-25, version 1.7.0* Bought the app after seeing positive reviews for iWatch integration. Thought it would allow volume control by rotating the crown, no go. Have to tap multiple times on the tiny screen to volume up/down. The iPhone app has different problem, no integration with hardware volume controls and no ability to tap ahead or behind the volume slider, can only drag the slider. Please fix the volume adjustment integration! Otherwise not worth $. ### 5/5 — Embarrassingly good *2016-11-25, version 1.7.0* Like most people I sought out this app for it's Apple Watch support, which works fantastic, just leaps and bounds better than Kronos which I had been using with iffy consistency. The kicker is I use this app more than the Sonos Controller App because I can access my favorite playlists faster since it has a widget that prevents me from needing to go into the app most of the time. Granted, the Sonos Controller supports things in the iPad like multi-window which render the widget mostly useless on the iPad Pro, but I still have zoneplayer on my iPad. The short of it is this is embarrassing how Sonos, who is a close Apple partner that sells their products INSIDE Apple stores, doesn't even natively support the Apple Watch a product on nearly 10 million wrists. ### 2/5 — Great Apple Watch App-Nothing Else *2016-07-09, version 1.6.0* I feel kinda burned. I probably should have dug deeper to learn that this app can't really access all of the Sonos APIs. So forget any of subscription services or as near as I can tell any of your playlists unless stored in the Sonos app. GREAT Apple Watch implementation - for $2 not $4. Yes I know it is only 2 bucks but this allows you to forward, reverse, and raise / lower volume. And nothing more. Still would have paid the $2 ### 5/5 — Great useful App for sonos owner *2016-05-19, version 1.6.0* Got this app awhile ago but didn't use it much. They have been continuing to update the app and now I use it all the time. Two main uses for me. I can now use apple music app to play through sonos. Select a song, album, playlist etc and do a share sheet play the music through sonos. Works awesome. I also use the apple watch app to control pause, play and volume. You can also select playlists on the watch. Seriously if sonos had any brains it would buy this company. ### 5/5 — This feature should be included in Apple Music *2016-05-08, version 1.5.5* I originally bought this for the ability to control Sonos from my Apple Watch and Notification Center. But the new feature of being able to "send to" Sonos from WITHIN Apple Music makes this a 10 star app. I've been wanting this feature since the day I got Sonos! ### 5/5 — If you use AppleMusic on Sonos you need this *2016-04-29, version 1.5.3* The "Play in Zone" extension is exactly what I was hoping Sonos would put into their app. It's so much easier to browse in the Music app and then send an album or playlist to the player than to use the Sonos app to browse. Buggy ### 1/5 — Not worth it; very limited Apple Watch functionality *2020-08-10, version 2.0.6* Be sure to read the really long description of the app. Lots of words (blah, blah, blah) that make it sound like this Apple Watch app does a lot, but all it really does is “pause and play” and volume. You can’t even move to the next song, let alone choose music. Not helpful for me. I guess I would not be so unhappy with its limited usefulness if I had paid $0.99, but is it worth $3.99? NO WAY. Keep your money until a useful Sonos Apple Watch app is available. That went fine. However none of my music is showing up, every category is empty. Any ideas? Unfortunately their website does not offer any help whatsoever. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with all apple watches. *2018-09-26, version 1.8.3* Purchased because of reviews and I felt like people who couldn’t get it onto the Apple Watch may have had older watches. Yeahhhh, no. Mine’s brand new and it won’t come up at all. Reset the watch, started whole process over, turned off/on phone, turned off/on watch, asked my biz tech guy and he did all the same things I did and said, “Sorry, the app just won’t work with your newer Apple Watch.” Awesome. 🙄 $4 down the tubes on yet another non-working app. ### 1/5 — Does not work on Apple Watch *2015-12-06, version 1.4.2* Bought this as it had many glowing reviews, outnumbering the few saying it didn’t actually work on the Apple Watch. I should have listened to the minority. I purchased this for what appeared to be a nice watch interface, which is the only reason I wanted it. When I open the app on my Watch it just shows the loading spinner with “ZonePlay”, never actually opening. I’m pretty disappointed. ### 1/5 — Good first try on Apple Watch *2015-07-12, version 1.3.6* I assume after Apple and Sonos get Sonos to work with Apple music later this year, and OS2 is released for the watch, Sonos will make a version of their controller available. Until then, this app provides some basic functions. The review I read on Flipboard overstated what the app can do, so I was somewhat disappointed. I hope the developers continues to upgrade this. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — The only app of its kind!! *2023-04-06* As far as I know, this is the only app of its kind on the App Store! Play any song or sound file from your iPhone to Sonos using the share feature. It allows me to play directly from the Files app or from the Apple Music app (on Sonos devices that do not support airplay). I do not open the app itself a lot, but I use it a lot from the share sheet of other apps to send things to Sonos, and it works great! It is so sad that this app is not getting more love on the App Store! this seems to have negatively impact developers, since there has been no update for three years. To the developers: your app is great! That said I am giving this 5 stars because: 1. It is the only app of its kind for WatchOS 2. This is the Apple Watch experience SONOS should have put out themselves. The implementation into only the lock screen on their controller is beyond lacking. Highly recommend it.
