Give it a week and you’ll get it, but it’s tough. Loving it now! ### 4/5 — Mostly great *2025-10-07, version 9.1.12* ZoomNotes really has everything I could ask for in a notes app. I’ve started incorporating it into my school life and daily life for a variety of features offered. My only real gripe comes with using the Apple Pencil pro’s squeeze mechanism. It open and closes the tool menu just fine, but sub-menus you opened do not close upon squeezing the pencil pro. This isn’t the worst thing, but it just feels like they should close with the main tool menu. ### 5/5 — Best App In The Store! *2025-09-16, version 9.1.11* After 5+ years of daily use (as of 9/16/25): ZoomNotes is hands-down my favorite, must-have app! I rely on it for everything: planning, calendar creation, PDF reading and editing (I even transformed a plain Bible PDF by adding thousands of links and images), and fixing up the daily images I create with ChatGPT. Spelling errors? Gone. Extra fingers? Erased. ZoomNotes makes it effortless. It truly does it all—so well that I no longer need a dozen other apps. From note-taking and presentations to transparency tools and advanced editing, it’s all built in. Honestly, this is the only app you need. After years of use, I’m convinced there’s nothing ZoomNotes can’t do. I use it exclusively, and it keeps getting better with every release. Don’t be discouraged by critics—if they don’t like it, it’s because they didn’t take the time to learn it. Yes, there’s a learning curve, but just a few days of practice pays off in a huge way. ZoomNotes has replaced at least 10 other specialized apps for me, and it continues to impress. It is, without question, the best app available. Period. ### 2/5 — Lost months of work twice *2025-08-28, version 9.1.10* I lost months of work & had to start from scratch I got to a certain point & today lost everything again after it crashed for the 100th time just today. I had my work on auto backup & thought I was covered . I went to re import my back up but the app backed up my file to the time my documents disappeared so once again I’ve lost everything. I love this app when it works but I’m freaking sick of losing my work & having to started over . The developer keeps adding new functions. I love that we continually get more options and don’t have to pay a monthly subscription fee like most other apps charge. I would suggest becoming a part of the Facebook group as everyone there is very helpful with learning all the functionality. Ed, the developer, is very helpful and quick to respond if you are having issues using the app. Ed is amazing!!! Everything that other people brag about being the reasons that they use other apps are things that this app already offers and has offered for years. I do not understand why more people aren’t bragging about this app. Props to the creator for all the things he has done to make this work for so many people. It has sooooo many features and customization options i am blown away. Totally worth the 10$. At first it may seem overwhelming, but keep at it and you too will find it is worth every obstacle, it is truly try and keep trying to master it. There are many options out there for help with ideas via YouTube for tutorials on how to use, setup, make different types of planners yourself, customizing, etc… I made and set mine up as a custom planner for my needs and absolutely love it!! Any problems and Ed (Developer) is always there to help fix it, usually right away, how often can you say that to other types of planners. This planner has from writing tools, to shapes, to tables, linking almost anything you want, import your calendar to link with your planner for monthly, weekly or yearly. The options and ideas are endless. I use mine on my Mac and iPad and the syncing is great. Try it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. ### 5/5 — The only way to go if you use a digital planner *2025-03-12, version 9.0.11* I’ve been going back and forth for years for digital planning, and THIS IS BY FAR, HANDS DOWN, THE ONLY APP THAT MAKES SENSE FOR IT. Trust me… I e tried it all. And have all the old and new note apps. This is the best ever. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but if you get through it, IT IS GOLD. ### 2/5 — Issues still *2025-02-19, version 9.0.10* Still having an issue where if I zoom in and write a bit then the writing looks like vectors instead of smooth writing. Makes the document almost unusable when it happens. It is even worse when I zoom in even at just 200x…. Amazing app if you don’t have this issue. Will update review to 5 stars whenever this is fixed. I have already made the developer aware of this. ### 5/5 — incredible!! *2025-02-16, version 9.0.10* i have tried many note-taking apps in the past, but always found myself frustrated by a lack of actually useful features, and a push towards adding more while ignoring what is still missing. on the other side of things, you get feature-rich apps but with unresponsive developers. zoomnotes is neither of these things. it has an amazingly wide berth of tools at your disposal, so it's useful for both planning or notetaking (personally, i'm a notetaker). this has some of the widest selection of tools and settings and has made notetaking a breeze, even if there's a bit of a learning curve to get over first. for example, i love to make diagrams but always wasted so much time trying to align everything with other apps; zoomnotes is the first app i've used with an alignment function and my notes look even better! that being said, with as many features as zoomnotes has, i really think that more keyboard shortcuts would be a phenomenal addition. even just text shortcuts like command+B would be greatly useful, but shortcuts to switch tools would be very powerful and make it much simpler. maybe even customizable shortcuts for your favorite tools? ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Love this app *2025-09-25, version 9.1.12* I will admit it took me a while to understand how this app works. I am still learning. But once you start to get the hang of it..... it is awesome!! I have no complaints what so ever. I would love however to see some metallic and or glitter inks, I would love also to see a pc version. I do all my planning on this app. I don’t take notes. Update unlimited zoom no longer works and I don’t recommend this app if you want that feature ### 1/5 — So Disappointed!! *2025-07-14, version 9.1.7* I have been using ZoomNotes for 3 months. The app was just gone when I opened my iPad today. And when I reinstalled alll of customizations were gone. All of my files gone. And I had iCloud backup on. When I restore my lost planner it’s now acting glitchy so I close the app and reopen now my planner is gone again. I go to files to get it back and it’s gone. All my notes all my work is gone I’m sick. This is unacceptable! I’m just crushed. Months of work just gone. ### 1/5 — No tooltip help = user becomes clueless. *2024-09-24, version 9.0.1* I just downloaded after paying $7.99, used it for couple of hours. During this time I somehow created Pages couple of them by mistake and then trying to remove them which I couldn’t but then I ended up deleting my main page which took me about 45 minutes to figure out how to change fonts and this and that and get one page going. This may be powerful, but it is definitely not user-friendly. I’m going to download good and then try that. I did use it once during trial and end. It was much better than this. I wish there was a way to get my $7.99 back. This application requires a lot of work to make it user-friendly, there was a menu option on the left side somehow I don’t know what I did or it just disappeared. I did not find any way to bring it back so that was a headache things also added on its own maybe because I’m putting my palm on the iPad as I’m typing and it opened up a new menu option and then I had some issues with that too trying to close it. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2024-06-29, version 8.8.38* I consider myself pretty tech savvy, patient, appreciative of multiple tools… this app is ridiculous. I wish had this app in college and graduate school. It’s potential for notes, and adding images, links to resources, and creating sketches is amazing. Especially as the world moves away from printed materials to electronic versions. No more lugging heavy books around or keeping tiny reference books in your pockets. There are many layers as this program continually evolves. The developer is available to answer questions and make changes requested by the users. I’m the type of person who loves using different pens, I especially love the calligraphy pen! No other app has captured it the way zoomnotes have. Also really love infinity mode - just wish there was a way to return to origin when u zoom in too much, lol. Love the rulers, which has more than one type! Don’t see that too often. Lastly, we’ve been spared from the AI enshi**ification - thank goodness! I find that really annoying, the other note taking apps have integrated AI into it and I find it really downgrades the experience. Thanks to Ed! And to the other devs as well. Now, every time I’m on YouTube and I get suggested silly videos for childish apps like ‘Goodnotes’ and ‘Notability,’ I scoff and open Zoomnotes with a smile on my face. It is everything that we are led to believe ‘Goodnotes’ and ‘Notability’ would like to be. They might have some name recognition yes.. but Zoomnotes actually provides everything that those apps promise to be and MORE. Their price hikes and shady sequels without adding features that actually worked tuned me away finally. Zoomnotes is perfect in almost every way and even better than Goodnotes in a lot of ways.
