## What is Zplayer?

Zplayer Audiophile music player
Zplayer is a no-compromise music player built for audiophiles who keep their FLAC and DSD library on a
WebDAV server. No transcoding, no resampling, no cloud lock-in — just bit-perfect playback from your own
  files.
  Bit-perfect playback
FLAC, ALAC, WAV and native DSD (DSF and DFF) play through the iOS audio path at their original sample rate
and bit depth, including hi-res 24-bit and DSD64/128. The Now Playing screen shows a "bit-perfect" badge
whenever the connected DAC is receiving the file untouched, and a tap on the badge reveals the full audio
path: file format, output sample rate, and route.
  Stream from your WebDAV server
Point Zplayer at any WebDAV share — Synology, NAS, Nextcloud, your own server — and your entire library is
available. Tags are read directly from the files using HTTP Range requests, so the first scan is fast and
there's no central database to keep in sync.
  Sync across devices
Favorites, play counts, ratings and the playback queue sync automatically between phone and tablet.
WebDAV credentials and API keys are stored in keychain, so a fresh install on a new device
is ready in seconds. The library cache is per-device, but everything you create — your taste — follows you.
  Watch ready
Now Playing controls appear on Watch out of the box. Play, pause, skip, scrub from your wrist.
  Built for collectors
  - Pressing identification: scan an OBI strip or barcode and certify which physical pressing of an album
you're listening to. (through 3rd party app)
  - Cover art download: fetch high-quality covers from Last.fm, Discogs and the Cover Art Archive, in batch or
   one tap at a time.
  - Dynamic Range analysis (DR14) (through 3rd party app)
  - Open albums in DrTagger or DrDoctor with a single tap.
  - Smart playlists, favorites, ratings, recently played.
  No subscription, no telemetry
Zplayer doesn't phone home. Your library, your data, your DAC.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.5 — 2026-10-27

• Genres: browse your library by genre family (Rock, Jazz, Classical…) with subgenre filters. Combined tags like "Hard Rock / Rock" are grouped properly, and Home and Stats now count by genre family too.
• Your covers first: albums with their own cover file (cover.jpg, folder.jpg…) always show it and never download one from the internet.
• Visualizer: a spectrum glowing behind Now Playing in the cover's colour, plus vintage VU meters, oscilloscope and spectrum in a panel under the title. Tap the waveform button for the background; hold it for the meters. Works with FLAC and DSD, including DoP. Audio passes through untouched.
• Album pages find artwork scans wherever they are in the album folder, and show them as they load.
• Identify pressing: choose which image (OBI, back cover…) to send to OBI Scanner.
• Fixes and performance improvements.

### 2.4 — 2026-10-05

What's New in Zplayer 2.4

• A fresh look for iOS 26: the new Liquid Glass tab bar keeps Search in its own button and tucks itself away as you scroll, leaving the screen to your music.
• Redesigned Home: what's playing (or what you played last) on a card that takes the album's colours, quick shortcuts, and shelves for Recently Played, Most Played, DSD, your favourite genres and albums you haven't played yet.
• Search now finds albums as well as tracks, and ignores accents.
• Tap the artwork in the mini player, or the cover and album name in Now Playing, to jump straight to the album.
• New full-screen lyrics: large type that follows the song, and you can tap any line to jump to it.
• Album pages: the title up front, the artist one tap away, and new Play and Radio buttons.
• Stats, Playlists and Settings now live in a single menu button at the top.
• Box sets show their formats neatly ("18 × CD") instead of repeating them.
• Fixed: listening stats and playlists from iCloud could fail to load at launch, leaving Home and Stats empty.

### 2.3 — 2026-09-30

What's New in Zplayer 2.3

• Playlists: save your queue as a playlist and play it back anytime. Playlists sync across your iPhone and iPad through iCloud.
• Redesigned Stats: listening time, plays, top artists, albums, labels and tracks, a genre chart, and your listening by day of the week and hour — for the last week, month, year or all time.
• Richer album pages on iPhone: a summary of the album, collapsible credits, and an artist card with photo and bio that takes you to the artist's page.
• Other editions: when your library has several pressings of the same album, Zplayer shows them side by side — jump to any of them or compare them in DR Analysis.
• More accurate DR values: dynamic range is now measured over the whole track and every channel, matching the reference DR14 meters. DSD albums are refined automatically after you play them, and a "~" marks values that are still estimates.
• Stats and Settings now live in the toolbar, leaving more room for your music in the tab bar.
• Demo mode: try Zplayer without a server — sample FLAC and DSD albums are included (Settings → Try Demo Mode).

### 2.2 — 2026-09-28

• Redesigned mini player: the Now Playing bar now sits neatly above the
tab bar and no longer hides the last tracks of an album.
• Now Playing and Lyrics feature a new ambient background built from the
  album artwork.
• The currently playing track is now marked in search results.
• Stability and playback refinements.

### 2.1 — 2026-09-14

DoP mode fixed, enjoy your DSDs
