# Studious vs HotNotes

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Studious at 50% against HotNotes's 0%. Studious also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 28 months) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 17.0). HotNotes's advantage is rating (3.5 vs 2.4). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HotNotes holds the better App Store score, 3.5 against 2.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 6 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Studious's written reviews are positive against 0% of HotNotes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Studious ships an update monthly, HotNotes every 28 months. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
