# VideoBox vs Cloud Media Player

The clearest difference is rating: VideoBox at 4.5 against Cloud Media Player's 2.9. VideoBox also leads on ratings volume (142 vs 19) and review sentiment (36% vs 25%). Cloud Media Player's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (10.3 vs 14.0). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. VideoBox sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and Cloud Media Player sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

VideoBox holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: VideoBox has 142 ratings behind it against 19, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 36% of VideoBox's written reviews are positive against 25% of Cloud Media Player's.

VideoBox ships an update every 6 months, Cloud Media Player every 9 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
