# xat vs Chalk

The clearest difference is rating: Chalk at 4.4 against xat's 3.0. Chalk also leads on review sentiment (75% vs 52%) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). xat's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.6). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. xat sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Chalk sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chalk holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 25 and 28 respectively. Written reviews point the same way: 52% of xat's written reviews are positive against 75% of Chalk's.
