# Area Quiz vs square

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: square at none against Area Quiz's 2. square also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (328 vs 11). Area Quiz's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.7). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Area Quiz sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. square asks for nothing beyond the download.

Area Quiz holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: square has 328 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of Area Quiz's written reviews are positive against 79% of square's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Area Quiz ships an update every 5 months, square every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
