# ZType vs Speed Typer

The clearest difference is rating: Speed Typer at 4.7 against ZType's 3.9. Speed Typer also leads on update cadence (every 6 days vs every 32 months) and ratings volume (6.6K vs 72). ZType's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 16.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ZType sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Speed Typer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speed Typer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed Typer has 6.6K ratings behind it against 72, so its average is the more settled of the two. ZType ships an update every 32 months, Speed Typer every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
