# Hourglass vs Life Tally

The clearest difference is rating: Life Tally at 4.8 against Hourglass's 4.0. Life Tally also leads on ratings volume (15 vs 4). Hourglass's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Life Tally sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Hourglass asks for nothing beyond the download.

Life Tally holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 4 and 15 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Hourglass's written reviews are positive against 78% of Life Tally's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hourglass ships an update fortnightly, Life Tally every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
