# xDrive Explorer vs i

The clearest difference is rating: xDrive Explorer at 2.6 against i's 2.3. i's advantage is ratings volume (789 vs 41) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 11.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

xDrive Explorer holds the better App Store score, 2.6 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: i has 789 ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 9% of xDrive Explorer's written reviews are positive against 15% of i's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

xDrive Explorer ships an update every 2 months, i every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
