# TheaterEars vs Party Tonight

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Party Tonight at none against TheaterEars's 6. Party Tonight also leads on ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (89% vs 61%). TheaterEars's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.5) and ratings volume (59K vs 8). On price, update cadence, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. TheaterEars sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Party Tonight asks for nothing beyond the download.

TheaterEars holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TheaterEars has 59K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of TheaterEars's written reviews are positive against 89% of Party Tonight's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

TheaterEars ships an update every 2 weeks, Party Tonight every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 31, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
