# Complete Ear Trainer vs MasterPiano

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Complete Ear Trainer at 199 against MasterPiano's 10. Complete Ear Trainer also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Complete Ear Trainer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and MasterPiano sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Complete Ear Trainer against 4.6 for MasterPiano. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Complete Ear Trainer has 199 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Complete Ear Trainer ships an update fortnightly, MasterPiano monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
