# Amber vs Viya

The clearest difference is monetization model: Amber at free against Viya's free with in-app purchases. Amber also leads on ratings volume (2.9K vs 353). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Amber against 4.6 for Viya. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Amber has 2.9K ratings behind it against 353, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 33% of Amber's written reviews are positive against 30% of Viya's.

Amber ships an update monthly, Viya every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
