# SubStreamer vs Sonic Stream

The clearest difference is rating: Sonic Stream at 4.6 against SubStreamer's 4.0. Sonic Stream also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 weeks). SubStreamer's advantage is review sentiment (72% vs 50%) and ratings volume (141 vs 5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Sonic Stream holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SubStreamer has 141 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of SubStreamer's written reviews are positive against 50% of Sonic Stream's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SubStreamer ships an update every 2 weeks, Sonic Stream every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
