# QR Pro vs Barcode Scanner

The clearest difference is ads: QR Pro at none against Barcode Scanner's shown. QR Pro also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 7 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). Barcode Scanner's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Barcode Scanner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Pro has 29K ratings behind it against 3.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 73% of QR Pro's written reviews are positive against 78% of Barcode Scanner's.
