# Anim8 vs SmartOCR

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Anim8 at 45% against SmartOCR's 0%. Anim8 also leads on ratings volume (22 vs 4) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.1). SmartOCR's advantage is price (Free vs $19.99) and rating (4.0 vs 3.0). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

SmartOCR is free to download; Anim8 costs $19.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SmartOCR holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Anim8 has 22 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of Anim8's written reviews are positive against 0% of SmartOCR's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
